JANUARY 29TH, 2019 WASHINGTON AVENUE ARMORY, ALBANY, NY NEWA BRAWL OUT EPISODE 5
(Promoter’s Note: Rather than simply having dark matches at tapings, I figure why not present them as matches on a pre-show on the fed’s website? Either way, they serve the same purpose as a dark match; get more talent on the card and paid, and warm up the crowd for the actual show.)
WEB PRE-SHOW EXCLUSIVE MATCH: SAMURAY DEL SOL vs. JAKE “THE MILKMAN” MILLIMAN
Samuray Del Sol controls the entire match, to the surprise of very, very few. He picks up the 3 count following the Hara-Kiri. WINNER: SAMURAY DEL SOL!
WEB PRE-SHOW EXCLUSIVE MATCH: BRITTANY BLAKE vs. APRIL HUNTER
In her NEWA debut match, April is a dominant force against Brittany, putting her away with a power bomb. WINNER: APRIL HUNTER!
SHOW INTRO
LK: Greetings from Albany, New York! I’m Linwood Knight, joined as always by “The Mauler” Maryellen Huss, and we are moving into the second round of the Shuffle Down to Buffalo Tournament!
MH: The opening rounds in the boroughs are all done, giving us our Sweet 16, and we will be bringing them down to the Elite 8 right here in Albany and next week in Syracuse.
LK: And these matches are absolutely massive, Maryellen! So big, we couldn’t even think of opening the action with one, instead opting for a light heavyweight battle between Jerry Lynn and Acid Jaz!
MH: These two men were both eliminated from the tournament last week, and they’re looking to pick up some momentum for when we open up the Light Heavyweight division very soon.
LK: The tournament proper resumes right after that, first with Harley Race taking on Matt Riddle.
MH: Race may be tougher than the leather on a cowboy boot, but Riddle is no slouch and his MMA experience might help him match Race’s considerable ring acumen. Whichever one falls tonight, I expect him to be in the World Title hunt soon enough!
LK: The winner of that match will go on to the semi-finals in Rochester, New York, and take on the winner of this contest, Pampero Firpo against “Mr. Perfect” Curt Hennig.
MH: In the back of Bobby Heenan’s mind, he’s got to be wondering if he’ll be in a position where two members of the Heenan Family will be butting heads soon. But Firpo surprised a lot of people when he eliminated Rob Van Dam back in Brooklyn, and he and James Cornette made it very clear they’re not looking past Mr. Perfect!
LK: Two powerful men will collide in our next tournament match, as Bobo Brazil locks horns with the notorious Iron Sheik.
MH: While these two are great wrestlers, as this match drags on I expect them to break out the power moves and fists to try and put each other away. I can’t help but love that kind of violence!
LK: *double takes* … charming. Anyhow, our last tournament match tonight is a battle between blue collar and white collar, as “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan squares off with the “Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase.
MH: These two are no strangers to each other, having worked in the same promotions at the same time for many years. I have to believe they both know they’ll need to step up their games against each other to advance in the tournament tonight.
LK: And speaking of stepping up the game, tonight’s main event will be our first ever No Disqualifications match! Rhino makes his NEWA debut to team up with “Macho Man” Randy Savage, as the latter seeks to settle his beef with Cesar Sleaze and Dizzy Lixx, the Metalheads!
MH: You want to talk about raising the stakes, Linwood? Not only is head referee John Parungao assigned to this match up, but chief of security Matt Tobin will be stationed at ringside to make sure nobody interferes in this match! Though anyone who wants to get near these four men in a No DQ environment would probably need their head checked!
LK: Right now, let’s go to Mike Cusey to introduce our first match of the broadcast!
EXHIBITION MATCH: ACID JAZ vs. JERRY LYNN
These two light heavyweights kept the action brisk through the match, scoring near falls and several popular spots, including a Cradle Piledriver from Lynn and a Lo Down from Jaz. In the end, Acid Jaz gets his first NEWA victory here with Sliced Chocolate. WINNER: ACID JAZ!
LK: And just like that, Acid Jaz gets one in the win column! And against an all-time Light Heavyweight great! What a victory for this Chikara alumni!
MH: Lynn does not look happy at that loss. And for that matter, both he and fellow ECW alumni Rob Van Dam are 0 and 2 so far in NEWA. Is this a false start for these two, or have the bingo hall boys run out of gas?
TOURNAMENT SECOND ROUND MATCH: MATT RIDDLE vs. HARLEY RACE (with manager BOBBY “THE BRAIN” HEENAN)
Matt Riddle went into this match with something to prove, and he and Race seemed to come up with answers to everything the other would throw at each other. Riddle countered a shoulder tackle with a clothesline, Race countered a back body drop, Riddle avoided a jumping knee smash, on and on without so much as a pin attempt for the longest time! Riddle just refused to even let his foe attempt a pin, and Race refused to give an inch to the MMA veteran, either. The first pin of the match actually came at about 10 minutes with Race getting a 2 count after a piledriver. A few moments later, a cross body block by Race was barely enough to get him the 3 count and advance him in the tournament. WINNER: HARLEY RACE!
Lk: It’s not often Race is challenged like that, especially by someone as young as Matt Riddle.
MH: You can see the relief on Heenan’s face, he must have been holding his breath this whole time! But now he’s hurrying to the back to check on his man in the next match!

(And now, part 2 of 2!)
TOURNAMENT SECOND ROUND MATCH: PAMPERO FIRPO (with manager JAMES E. CORNETTE) vs. “MR PERFECT” CURT HENNIG (with manager BOBBY “THE BRAIN” HEENAN)
Firpo gets right in Hennig’s face immediately with his infamously powerful hair, and the offense is so unorthodox that even Mr. Perfect is caught off Firpo quickly goes for a pinfall, and Heenan springs into action, successfully distracting the ref. The Bull of the Pampas is undeterred, and following a massive slam tries again, only to get a face full of a foreign object by Heenan. The ref catches none of this, but while Firpo feels the pain, he just gets pissed. Cornette gets right in the Brain’s face to prevent any more shenanigans as Firpo locks in El Garfio in the center of the ring, and Hennig submits! WINNER: PAMPERO FIRPO!
MH: Unbelievable! First Rob Van Dam, now Curt Hennig falls to the Argentinian mad man! Firpo is beating all the odds!
LK: Heenan and Cornette are still shouting at each other at ringside! And with Firpo now set to face another of Heenan’s charges in Harley Race in the semi-finals, this animosity between one of wrestling’s most notorious mutual admiration societies won’t die down anytime soon!
*After the commercial break, we find Trish Stratus in the ring with a mic in hand*
LK: Welcome back, everyone, and as you can see, Ms. Stratus here has something to say.
TRISH STRATUS: So last week, Bayley apologized to me provided I apologize to her. Well... alright, then. Come on out, Bayley, let's do this woman to woman, right here in the ring and in front of these fans.
MH: The crowd isn't sure what to think of this, and personally I don't blame them, but there's Bayley's music, she's coming to the ring with a mic, and from the look in her eyes, she's not sure what to think, either.
LK: Bayley may be sweet and kind, but she's not as naive as she once was. She knows she might be walking into a trap, but wants to make this right anyway if there's a chance.
MH: And you can tell on your former point, too. She's staying near the ropes, not going to the center of the ring or near a turnbuckle, she's keeping an escape option open just in case.
TRISH: Come on... come closer, I don't bite.
BAYLEY: Come on, Trish, I know you don't need glasses to see me, and you can hear me just-
LK: Wait a minute, Bayley's mic got cut off.
TRISH: What's that, Bayley? You say you're sorry you lost your precious little temper at the big mean Trish? Well, forget it! Because I'm not sorry for a thing I said! Nobody should be sorry for telling the truth. And the truth is you're nothing but a fangirl dressed up as a wrestler at some fleabag comic convention in a one horse town!
LK: Now wait a minute! Bayley's a decorated champion many times over!
MH: Bayley's trying to respond, but her mic is still turned off. Who did Trish pay off in the back?
TRISH: I'd say you're a dime a dozen, but the real truth is you're a dime a million, and that's still paying too much! You're an embarrassment to this business, Bayley! Your ridiculous hugging everyone you meet and "golly gee whiz" attitude about everyone back stage, you're nothing but a child! And children need to be spanked.
LK: Wait, did someone just come out of the audience?! Bayley's being pulled out of the ring- that's Courtney Rush! Courtney Rush is laying into Bayley, and Trish is loving every second of the brutality!
MH: Courtney is absolutely sick! This demented woman is just manhandling Bayley!
LK: DAMN! Black Hole Slam onto the floor on Bayley! She's been laid out! And Trish is laughing right in Bayley's face!
MH: Matt Tobin and some other backstage staff are hurrying out to break this up, but it looks like Trish and Courtney were done, anyway. I can't believe Trish has gotten this arrogant!
TOURNAMENT SECOND ROUND MATCH: BOBO BRAZIL VS. THE IRON SHEIK
The Iron Sheik opens up on offence, but loses control quickly as Brazil reverses an abdominal stretch, and the two fight back and forth with a hammer punch getting a 2 count for Brazil. Sheik regains control from the turnbuckle, and gets a 2 count after two sidewinder suplexes. The two war back and forth, the Sheik getting in a hit with his loaded boot in the process, and a series of turnbuckle reversals sends the two down. Brazil answers the ref's 10 count first, and hits the Sheik with the Coco Butt when he gets back up. That gets a 2 yet again, and after some more back and forth action, Bobo Brazil locks in a long, painful bear hug. Sheik gets out, hits Brazil again with the loaded boot, and the Sheik throws him over the top rope. That was a mistake, as Brazil reverses an Irish whip into the steel post, setting the stage for a series of Coco Butts back in the ring which finally puts the Sheik down! WINNER: BOBO BRAZIL!
LK: The Iron Sheik will be nursing his head all week after that, Maryellen! Talk about a bruising!
MH: Brazil advances into the Elite 8 with a hard fought victory!
TOURNAMENT SECOND ROUND MATCH: "HACKSAW" JIM DUGGAN vs. "MILLION DOLLAR MAN" TED DIBIASSE
A series of quick reversals and dodges opens the match, with Duggan scoring the first real success of the match with a spinning body slam leading to a two count. In and out of the ring the two jockey for control, with Duggan escaping pin and submission attempts several times. These two throw nearly everything they have at each other, reversing suplexes and throwing haymakers until DiBiase finally gets the three count with a power slam. WINNER: "MILLION DOLLAR MAN" TED DIBIASE!
MH: And DiBiase jams a hundred dollar bill into Duggan's mouth. All these years and he still doesn't show a lick of respect for Hacksaw!
LK: That's DiBiase for you. When you believe everybody has a price, you undervalue a lot of people.
NO DISQUALIFICATION TAG TEAM MATCH: "MACHO MAN" RANDY SAVAGE & RHINO vs. THE METALHEADS (CESAR SLEAZE & DIZZY LIXX)
LK: We should mention that Penelope Ford is barred from ringside, since she is a trained wrestler herself and could impact the match's result. Commissioner Justin Toner set that as a condition for letting these four men loose in this no DQ match.
Randy Savage and Dizzy Lixx start off the match, and Lixx barely dodges a rushing attack from Savage. Out of the ring they go, and Lixx gets the advantage with a throw to the steel steps, and Sleaze takes over on offense back in the ring until Savage dodges a clothesline and tags Rhino. They battle back and forth, Sleaze tags in Lixx, and eventually he hits with Heavy Metal for a two count. The Skid Row double team attack also results in a two, and Sleaze takes back over only for Rhino to block a low blow and get Savage back into the mix. Sleaze and Savage trade offense, culminating in Savage hitting his patented Flying Elbow Smash, but Lixx breaks up the pin. Savage tags Rhino, who tries for a tombstone, but Sleaze wriggles out and hits Bang Your Head, and tags in Lixx.
The lean and arrogant drummer tries for a missile drop kick, but Rhino gets away and hits a spinning spinebuster! Rhino soon enough hits the GORE!, but Sleaze breaks up the pin attempt. Savage goes in to work over Sleaze, while Rhino sends Lixx into the turnbuckle only to get a knee to the face for his trouble. Lixx breaks out every dirty trick he has at this point, biting noses, spitting, even jabbing Savage with his drumsticks at one point. The match is utter pandemonium from then on out, culminating with the Macho Man piledriving Sixx to the mat, and hitting Lixx with the Flying Elbow Smash. Rhino meets Cesar Sleaze with the GORE! before he can break up the pin, and the result is inevitable. WINNERS: "MACHO MAN" RANDY SAVAGE & RHINO!
LK: And with that, the issue may well be settled for the moment. Lixx and Sleaze aren't likely to be trying for any revenge after that.
MH: It makes you wonder if Savage and Rhino will remain a tag team, they certainly seem to have gelled here tonight.
LK: Time will indeed tell whether or not these two volatile individuals continue to work together. But until next week, for Maryellen Huss, I'm Linwood Knight wishing you all a good night!

FEBRUARY 5TH, 2019 TURNING STONE RESORT, VERONA NY (just outside Syracuse) NEWA BRAWL OUT EPISODE 6
WEB PRE-SHOW EXCLUSIVE MATCH: BRIAN CHRISTOPHER vs. CHAZ TAYLOR
A very competitive match, Christopher picking up the win via DQ when a frustrated Chaz goes for a chair outside the ring. WINNER: BRIAN CHRISTOPHER!
WEB PRE-SHOW EXCLUSIVE MATCH: "JUMPING" JIM BRUNZEL vs. DAVID TAYLOR
Quick paced action with several counters. Brunzel lands his High Flying Dropkick leading to the pin. WINNER: "JUMPING" JIM BRUNZEL!
SHOW OPENING
LK: Good evening, everyone! We are live from Turning Stone Resort and Casino for NEWA Brawl Out! I'm Linwood Knight, this is "The Mauler" Maryellen Huss, and we have a jam packed show for you tonight!
MH: The rest of the Shuffle Down to Buffalo Tournament's Elite 8 will be determined here tonight with the remaining four second round matches. We've had some surprising advances already, can a potential Cinderella story continue to play out here tonight?
LK: We will talk about those in a moment, but our opening contest tonight is two in-ring debuts for NEWA! Penelope Ford, who you've seen accompany the "Macho Man" Randy Savage to the ring, enters the ring against Courtney Rush.
MH: Courtney first appeared last week, abusing Bayley at the behest of Trish Stratus. But Penelope is as brave and agile as they come, and she will try to stand up to these two Mean Girls.
LK: Indeed, it should be a fierce match up. Now, our tournament action begins properly with Dizzy Lixx battling "Exotic" Adrian Street.
MH: Lixx's victory against Randy Savage was the biggest surprise of the opening round. And by now Adrian Street has seen just how vicious Lixx can be in the ring and had better be on his guard no matter how banged up Savage and Rhino left him last week!
LK: Following that, it's size versus technique as King Kong Bundy goes toe to toe with Gorgeous George!
MH: George's wits and cleverness had better not fail him, especially if the Weasel, Bobby Heenan decides to get involved on his client's behalf. Bundy and Heenan can and will fight as dirty as the self-proclaimed Toast of the Town.
LK: The hits will just keep on coming, with Road Warrior Animal doing battle against Lou Thesz, and even though on paper it looks like a second size versus technique battle, this time the odds may well favor technique!
MH: While Animal isn't the first name you think of when you think of solid technical wrestling, he can hang in there when it calls for it. If he can keep up with Thesz's maneuvers, though, remains to be seen.
LK: Our final second round match sees "Tugboat" Taylor locking up with "Nature Boy" Buddy Rogers!
MH: Taylor is another unexpected first round winner, but Rogers is a much different opponent than the unpredictable Bruiser Brody. If ol' Tugboat can pull this off, too, then who knows how far he can go?
LK: And our main event tonight, Rob Van Dam and Jerry Lynn look to reverse their fortunes in the tag team ranks against the Bolsheviks!
MH: Both Lynn and Van Dam are 0-2 in NEWA, and I've been hearing some rumors that other ECW alumni are not thrilled with how they've been performing.
LK: Yeah, considering the violent history of ECW, that's not a comforting thing to hear if you're Rob Van Dam or Jerry Lynn. But right now, it's time for our opening match-up, so take it away, Mike Cusey!
EXHIBITION MATCH: COURTNEY RUSH (with TRISH STRATUS) vs. PENELOPE FORD
Neither combatant can gain the upper hand in the match's opening moments, and a fluke F5 from Rush only scores a quick 2 count. Ford slowly begins to dominate the match, scoring several near falls, and while Rush never stops putting up a fight, she eventually submits to the Muta Lock and Trish can't get the ref's attention to distract from her associate tapping out! WINNER: PENELOPE FORD!
LK: Now that people have seen what Ford can really do, they'll think twice about using her as a pawn against Randy Savage!
MH: Maybe so, but here comes Trish with a steel chair! She just waylaid Penelope with that blow! And she's still not done! Now Rush is getting in Ford's face to lick it! EW!!
LK: But here comes Bayley with a chair of her own! Trish and Courtney are bailing out!
TOURNAMENT SECOND ROUND MATCH: DIZZY LIXX (with CESAR SLEAZE) vs. "EXOTIC" ADRIAN STREET (with manager JAMES E. CORNETTE and valet MISS LINDA)
Lixx comes in like gangbusters, hitting a flurry of offense and scoring several near falls. A panicked Cornette jumps onto the ring apron and tries to smash Lixx with his tennis racquet, but just takes it to his own head before Lixx then uses it against Street! Still only a two count though. Lixx continues the offense until finally Street gets a high kick in after being tossed into the turnbuckle, almost on instinct. The Exotic One makes his offense count, hitting hard with the Daffodil and cinching the London Bridge Leglock in the center of the ring, and Lixx taps! WINNER: "EXOTIC" ADRIAN STREET!
LK: Lixx knew he had to hit hard and hit fast, but Adrian Street comes out on top to advance to the Elite 8!
MH: Lixx is no fluke, but Street is just that much tougher. We have not seen the last of the Metalhead's antics, as I'm sure they're going to be focused on tag team gold by hook or by crook.
(Part 2 coming soon!)

(And now, part 2 of 2!)
TOURNAMENT SECOND ROUND MATCH: KING KONG BUNDY (with manager BOBBY "THE BRAIN" HEENAN) vs. GORGEOUS GEORGE (with valet/manager CHERIE DUPRE)
Against all seeming common sense, George tries to body slam Bundy. After that obvious mistake, the action gets a little more balanced as the two start to feel each other out. George escapes a tombstone piledriver attempt, only for Bundy to block a snapmare, then George immediately ducks a clothesline. The first pin attempt comes following a top rope knee drop from Gorgeous George, but that gets a 2. The damage is done by this point, and George manages to get a submission win with his Spinning Toehold. WINNER: GEORGEOUS GEORGE!
LK: Can you believe this! George has managed to keep the big man down! Bobby Heenan has one man left in this tournament!
MH: That one man is Harley Race, though, who is still one of the odds on favorites. But it's still a massive win for the so-called Toast of the Town!
TOURNAMENT SECOND ROUND MATCH: LOU THESZ vs. ROAD WARRIOR ANIMAL (with manager "PRECIOUS" PAUL ELLERING)
The two veterans lock up, and Thesz gets in a headlock that Animal quickly reverses into a suplex. A pair of massive shoulder blocks, and Animal tries for a pin, getting a quick 2. Thesz survives some more pin attempts, and starts mounting a comeback, getting a surprise roll up on Animal but no victory. Back and forth this one goes, Thesz and Animal refusing to go down. The Road Warrior tosses Thesz over the top rope, but does not pursue, opting to catch his breath. Then he notices someone jump the guard rail...
LK: That's Buddy Rogers! Rogers is taking the boots to Thesz!
MH: He just got Animal DQ'd and made a statement to Thesz!
WINNER BY DISQUALIFICATION: LOU THESZ!
LK: Animal is furious! He's chasing after Rogers, who's running to the back quick as he can! And the production trailer is telling me that Alicia Coast is racing to catch up to the Nature Boy!
BACKSTAGE INTERVIEW
ALICIA COAST: Buddy Rogers, what is the meaning of interfering in the match like that!
"NATURE BOY" BUDDY ROGERS: Oh, I'll tell you the meaning, sweetheart! Given a choice between taking on the very appropriately named Animal, that gorilla in a man's body, or Lou Thesz, which do you think I would rather do?! I know for an absolute FACT that I can out-wrestle Thesz! I know beyond the slightest shadow of a doubt that I can out-think Thesz! And I- WOAH!
*Rogers is off like a bolt, as Animal stomps past security, continuing his pursuit of the man who just robbed him of his World Title ambitions.*
ANIMAL: CALL ME THAT TO MY FACE, NATURE BOY!! COME ON!!
LK: This better get under control quick, because Rogers wrestles "Tugboat" Thomas right after this commercial break!
TOURNAMENT SECOND ROUND MATCH: "TUGBOAT" TAYLOR (with CHAZ TAYLOR) vs. "NATURE BOY" BUDDY ROGERS
LK: Fans, we are back, and to make sure this match proceeds as scheduled, the Road Warriors have been escorted out of the building with a promise for a match with Rogers down the line after the tournament. Rogers is being fined for his actions, but this match was advertised, he earned this place in the tournament, so his punishment is limited to the fine.
Taylor gets an early start, but the Nature Boy is too canny, too quick, and scouted this match well. Even so, there's a lot of fight in the ol' Tugboat, as he pulls himself to the ropes to escape the Figure Four Grapevine. Buddy Rogers proceeds to actually get the big man up for an atomic drop, then reapplies the Figure Four Grapevine, and Taylor submits. WINNER: "NATURE BOY" BUDDY ROGERS!
MH: Perhaps it's an anticlimactic finish to the second round of the tournament, but you're looking at the final member of our Elite 8 in all his smug glory.
MH: They move on to Rochester where the four winners will compete for the NEWA World Championship, and the four losers will instead go on to battle for the North American Championship, all in Buffalo in two weeks!
MAIN EVENT: ROB VAN DAM & JERRY LYNN vs. THE BOLSHEVIKS (NIKOLAI VOLKOFF & BORIS ZHUKOV)
Jerry Lynn hits a dropkick right on Boris Zhukov at the opening bell, causing the big Russian with minimal neck to stagger, but not enough for him to be hit by Lynn's second dropkick. Zhukov works Lynn over some, sending him into his corner, and he tags Volkoff and they double team the considerably smaller Lynn. Volkoff goes for a blatant choke, but Lynn escapes with a knee to the midsection, and somehow gets the powerful Volkoff off his feet for a German suplex! The two count that follows leads Lynn to quickly tag in RVD. And the Whole F'n Show proceeds to work out weeks of pent up frustration on Volkoff, scoring the Van Terminator twice! Volkoff only escapes the pin with Zhukov's help, and barely escapes RVD to tag his partner back in.
RVD ducks Zhukov's offense, but an attempt at a monkey flip fails leading to the Bolsheviks taking control back. It's only temporary, as RVD sends Zhukov into the turnbuckle, spinning kicks him in the head, and picks up right where he left off. Lynn is tagged in, and proceeds to dazzle with quick moves, but Zhukov has had enough after he lands outside the ring and Lynn follows. Zhukov decides to slam Lynn THROUGH the announce table, and finally referee John Parungao, who had been giving these two teams a lot of leeway, has had enough and disqualifies the Bolsheviks! WINNERS BY DISQUALIFICATION: ROB VAN DAM & JERRY LYNN!
LK: You can see it in the look on Rob Van Dam's face. If ever you could be robbed even in victory, this was it.
MH: I guess if the Bolsheviks got away with those kinds of antics against the Taylors, they could just make lightning strike twice. But Zhukov isn't done with Lynn! He's picking up a chair, Volkoff is picking up Lynn, and RVD's grinning!
LK: You know what that means! These fans have wanted to see it here since we announced RVD was joining NEWA! And there's the Van Daminator!
MH: At least the fans get to go home happy now.
LK: Too true, and speaking of which, we are all out of time! For Maryellen Huss, I'm Linwood Knight wishing you all a great night!

FEBRUARY 12TH, 2019 MAIN STREET ARMORY, ROCHESTER NY NEWA BRAWL OUT EPISODE 7
WEB PRE-SHOW EXCLUSIVE MATCH: BRUTUS "THE BARBER" BEEFCAKE vs. CESAR SLEAZE (with DIZZY LIXX)
Brother Bruti controls most of the early match, but Sleaze's chokes and eye gouges lead to the upper hand and the Twisted Mister finish. WINNER: CESAR SLEAZE!
WEB PRE-SHOW EXCLUSIVE MATCH: THE TAYLORS ("TUGBOAT" TAYLOR & CHAZ TAYLOR) vs. BRIAN CHRISTOPHER & ROCK RIDDLE
In the first outing with his new manager/tag partner, Christopher winds up completely cut off by the more seasoned tag team, and is pinned by a cartwheel and clothesline by the elder Taylor. WINNERS: "TUGBOAT" TAYLOR & CHAZ TAYLOR!
SHOW OPENING:
LK: Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, Linwood Knight and Maryellen Huss here at ringside, and the boss himself, NEWA promoter and co-owner James Irish is coming down to ringside!
MH: This is an unusual instance, normally James stays backstage and focuses on working with his staff on the key decisions when it's show time. What's on the boss' mind?
JAMES IRISH: Hello, Rochester, New York! And welcome to the first ever NEWA Brawl Out in our new, longer show format! ESPN has been so happy with the ratings we've been getting, they've given us more time each week, and my hometown crowd will be the first beneficiary of that decision! But I'm not here to just boast about our new format, but to announce matches for the finale for the Shuffle Down to Buffalo Tournament.
Firstly, as you may well remember, in addition to the final rounds of the tournament which will determine the NEWA World and North American champions, respectively, we have Tag Team Champions and a Women's Champion to crown at that event as well. Regarding the former, we will hold a Fatal Four Way Elimination match with our four most established teams, specifically the Road Warriors, the Bolsheviks, the Taylors and the Metalheads! And as far as the women's championship goes, there will be a 14 woman battle royal featuring every single woman you've seen compete here in NEWA, specifically Trish Stratus, Bayley, Jazz, Courtney Rush, Brittany Blake, April Hunter, Penelope Ford, Madison Rayne who is making her debut tonight, and the NEWA debuts of Maria Manic, Malia Hosaka, Tomoka Nakagawa, Thunderkitty, Heidi Lovelace and Jessica Havok!
Folks, when we say we respect the past, embrace the present and look to the future, we mean it. NEWA is here to stay in this brave new world of regional superfeds, and it's thanks to every one of you who buys tickets to our shows, watches us on TV or our YouTube channel, and has pre-ordered the DVD sets of these first eight shows. Without you, there is no us. And without Rochester, there is no me. Enjoy the- oh, wait, there's one last thing. The Tournament Finale next week, IT'S A CAGE MATCH!!! *pauses for cheers* Okay, now I'm really done, enjoy the show everyone!
LK: That was certainly a good number of bombshells delivered by the boss, but I've got one more right here! While this was going on, a camera crew spotted the Metalheads meeting up with Bobby Heenan, let's go to the footage.
BACKSTAGE AREA...
DIZZY LIXX: Hey, Bobby, c'mere.
BOBBY HEENAN: What's the matter, can't you see I'm trying to figure out how to keep that loose cannon Brody from-
CESAR SLEAZE: What if we gave you an incentive to not care this time? We've got the Road Warriors in a four way match-up next week with the tag belts on the line. We want a little... leveling of the playing field if you catch our meaning. And there's something in it for you and your team. Break out the bread, Lixx.
DIZZY LIXX: *hands Heenan eight thousand dollars* A few grand to grease the palms of the Brain is nothing compared to tag team championship payouts in the long term.
BOBBY HEENAN: *counting the money* 8 large, not bad. I take back most of the bad things I've said about you guys! I think we have an understanding, gentlemen. I'll let Bundy and Brody know, though I'm still not sure how Brody will respond to this.
*Heenan exits*
CESAR SLEAZE: Wait, "most" of the bad things?
DIZZY LIXX: Meh, it's Heenan being Heenan. Let it go, so long as they do what we need.
(That match will open up Part 2, going up soon!)

(And now, part 2 of 3!)
LK: Welcome back, fans, and as King Kong Bundy and Bruiser Brody come down to ringside for their match against the Road Warriors, let's quickly run down the rest of tonight's card. Of course we have our four quarter finals matches in the Shuffle Down to Buffalo Tournament, featuring Harley Race vs. Pampero Firpo, Bobo Brazil vs. Ted DiBiase, Adrian Street vs. Gorgeous George and Lou Thesz vs. Buddy Rogers.
MH: Eight veteran grapples remain in contention for the NEWA World Championship and North American Championship. We will know which of them are going after which belt in a matter of hours tonight!
LK: Plus, as James Irish alluded to earlier, Madison Rayne makes her NEWA debut against Jazz!
MH: Rayne has been in several federations, and has won gold in many of them, you have to believe she's looking to add to that portfolio here. Jazz, meanwhile, badly wants to put her surprise loss to Brittany Blake behind her.
LK: Also tonight, Rob Van Dam looks to get a singles win to his credit here in NEWA, this week taking on the King of Bros, Matt Riddle!
MH: It has not been an easy time for ECW alumni here in NEWA, and tonight won't be any easier for Van Dam, even if he and Riddle generally get along from what I hear.
LK: And tonight's main event features two former world champions as the Iron Sheik battles "Macho Man" Randy Savage! Two fearsome opponents in the ring, and two very unpredictable men behind the mic!
MH: I have to believe these two will be jockeying for a spot on the contenders list for a singles title, and see this match as a stepping stone in that path.
LK: Right now, let's turn it over to ring announcer Mike Cusey!
EXHIBITION TAG TEAM MATCH: THE ROAD WARRIORS (HAWK & ANIMAL with manager "PRECIOUS" PAUL ELLERING) vs. KING KONG BUNDY (with manager BOBBY "THE BRAIN" HEENAN) & BRUISER BRODY
Brody and Animal start the match, and Brody takes control with a shoulder tackle and a boot to Animal's face. Animal tries to put Brody away quickly, even hitting the Doomsday Device with Hawk, but only gets two counts for his trouble. Hawk tags in, won't even let Brody get close to his corner, and he and Animal hit the Doomsday Device a second time, but again Brody kicks out. Brody finally counters a jumping fist drop from Hawk, connects with a drop kick, and tags in King Kong Bundy.
Hawk and Bundy trade offense, and the Road Warrior finally gets the upper hand with a tandem clothesline with Animal, but only gets a 2 count on Bundy. Bundy continues to resist, countering and taking control until Hawk reverses a back body drop attempt and quickly tags Animal. Animal locks in a Camel Clutch while Paul Ellering keeps Bobby Heenan from interfering, and Bundy submits to the aggravation of Brody! WINNERS: THE ROAD WARRIORS!
LK: And that's eight thousand dollars of the Metalheads' money flushed down the toilet as this makeshift tandem of Brody and Bundy continues to have nothing but problems!
MH: Bruiser Brody is just storming off in disgust, and after the way Heenan's been regarding him, I don't blame him one bit! Right now, Alicia Coast is headed to ringside to speak to the Road Warriors!
AC: Paul Ellering, your team the Road Warriors has been entered into the Fatal Four Way tag team contest to determine the first ever NEWA World Tag Team Champions at our Buffalo show. I presume this is what you expected all along. PAUL ELLERING: Having one of my charges holding the NEWA World Championship would have been a tremendous achievement, and if it weren’t for Buddy Rogers, Animal very well could still be in that conversation. But if we’re being honest, the Road Warriors and I always knew that our main goal would always be continuing to dominate the tag ranks. Our efforts so far have merely been the prelude, Alicia, the real domination will begin when we show three other teams why the Road Warriors are the most decorated team in this sport’s history. Tell ‘em, Animal! ANIMAL: The way I see it, there’s four deserving victims waiting to land in the emergency room, and two bystanders who ought to get out of the way! We have no beef with the Taylors, but if it comes down to it, we have no problem pounding them into the mat. And if the Bolsheviks think they can match power with us, they’ll learn that they’d be better off going crying back to Vladimir Putin! But we’re saving our real wrath for the Metalheads. You slimy jackals have been getting away from nearly every beating that’s been due to you! Now you stoop so low as to pay off Bundy and Brody to do your dirty work? All you’ve done is make us mad, right Hawk? HAWK: WELL… if there’s anything we can’t stand, it’s copycats! We didn’t like it with Demolition, we didn’t like it with the Powers of Pain, and we don’t like it with you Metalheads, either, and we’re not the ones you’re even copying! Nobody, but nobody, tops the originals, and you can cry “we’re not gonna take it” all you want. The Doomsday Device will send you straight to the oldies circuit right next to A Flock of Seagulls and Toni Basil, right where you belong! OHHHHHHHHHHHHH WHATTA RUSH!!! ANIMAL: One last thing! Nature Boy… I haven’t forgotten about you at all. Your reckoning is coming.
TOURNAMENT QUARTER FINALS MATCH: HARLEY RACE (with manager BOBBY "THE BRAIN" HEENAN) vs. PAMPERO FIRPO (with manager JAMES E. CORNETTE)
These two very tough men open their match countering blows before Firpo gets the first real traction in the match with a forearm blow to Race's back. The advantage just keeps going back and forth until Race hits a lariat that knocks the spit right out of his mouth. A vertical suplex from Race just gets him a 2 count, as does a piledriver. Race locks in an Indian Deathlock, but James E. Cornette pulls on his leg to break the hold, which leads to Race pursuing Cornette outside the ring. Firpo recovers, and takes advantage by ramming Harley Race's head right into the steel turnbuckle post! A pair of knee lifts from the Bull of the Pampas leads to a two count in his first pin attempt of the match. Firpo continues to hit Race with almost everything he has, getting little further, and then throws Race out of the ring and wallops him with Cornette's tennis racquet! The ref calls for the bell, disqualifying Firpo! WINNER BY DISQUALIFICATION: HARLEY RACE!
MH: The look of relief on Heenan's face couldn't be clearer! His man remains in contention for the World Championship!
LK: Cornette tried everything he could to keep Firpo in the running, but Race may be one of the few wrestlers tougher than the Bull of the Pampas. He doesn't look too upset, though, and that's probably because his other charge Adrian Street still has yet to wrestle tonight in his tournament match.
TOURNAMENT QUARTER FINALS MATCH: BOBO BRAZIL vs. "MILLION DOLLAR MAN" TED DIBIASE
DiBiase's opening knife edge chop is swatted away by Brazil, who stuns his foe with a picture-perfect drop kick. Bobo picks his foe up, but the canny Million Dollar Man rakes his eye, and he proceeds to throw the disoriented Brazil into the ropes, leading into a power slam. A neckbreaker follows, but Brazil counters DiBiase's attempt at a fist drop, only for DiBiase to dodge a headscissors attempt. The action continues in similar fashion, eventually leading to the first pin attempt of the match as Brazil runs right into the turnbuckles after DiBiase dodges a clothesline. Ted only receives a 2 count, though.
DiBiase goes for a leglock submission, but Brazil powers out of it, slams DiBiase to the mat and then hits the Coco Butt, only to score a 2 count of his own. Knowing what's at stake, the two continue to trade holds, slams and counters with neither maintaining an advantage for long. Bobo Brazil powers out of the Million Dollar Dream, then kicks out after a vertical suplex. DiBiase keeps trying, getting nothing but two counts, and eventually sends Brazil out of the ring. Bobo nearly lands on his feet, though, and recovers quickly enough to pull DiBiase out by his legs and Bobo body slams him onto the steel steps! A second such slam in the ring only nets him a two count, but he keeps the momentum up as best he can despite DiBiase's stubbornness. It takes the cumulative effects of three more Coco Butts to finally leave DiBiase down for the three count. WINNER: BOBO BRAZIL!
LK: That is the single hardest fought victory in Bobo Brazil's tenure here in NEWA so far! And now next week he must go on to battle Harley Race!
MH: That match promises to be a true endurance test for both men, but right now Brazil is probably just thinking of getting some rest after DiBiase took him to the limit!
EXHIBITION MATCH: MADISON RAYNE vs. JAZZ
Rayne opens the match kicking like a madwoman and using her boot to choke Jazz, but when she tosses her to the ropes, Jazz counters into an STF! Even though it gets broken up, it shifts the momentum drastically in Jazz's favor until Rayne grabs Jazz's tights during a DDT attempt to get a two count. She keeps the pressure on, hitting the Rayne Check twice within two minutes to get the three count. WINNER: MADISON RAYNE!
LK: And Rayne is gloating into the camera, "it's going to be just that easy next week in the battle royal."
MH: Those comments may put an even larger target on her back than she would have already had, because Jazz is certain to want to get back at Madison for this!
(PROMOTER'S NOTE: The DiBiase/Brazil match went to 11 near falls before the finish, easily my most tense match to date. Next post should probably go up on Friday, since I have my usual D&D night tomorrow.)

(And now, part 3 of 3!)
EXHIBITION MATCH: MATT RIDDLE vs. ROB VAN DAM (with JERRY LYNN)
A fast paced opening sees RVD counter Riddle's Super Bro Punch, who then counters RVD's monkey flip and lands the rolling gut wrench suplexes to get a quick 2 count. Riddle next hits the Brostroyer, and to the shock of everyone, gets a three count then and there! WINNER: MATT RIDDLE!
LK: Wait, what? I mean, I figured Riddle had as good a chance of winning as RVD had, but that quickly? Is RVD hurt??
MH: No, he's up, and he looks as shocked as anyone. And Riddle's verbally defending himself, and- WAIT! Someone, no, two someones are coming from the locker room area with chairs!
LK: Maryellen, the rumors you alluded to last week are true! That's Chris Candido and Steve Corino! They're laying out both RVD and Matt Riddle! Jerry Lynn is trying to save them, but- OHHH! He just got decked, too! All three of them are down and hurting!
STEVE CORINO: *on mic* The good name of ECW has been dragged in the mud enough without these two has-beens stinking up arenas across New York! We're going to do something about it, starting now!
MH: The gauntlet has been laid down, and wait, Candido is propping up RVD on his knees, Corino's holding up a chair and-
LK: VAN DAMINATOR BY CHRIS CANDIDO ON RVD HIMSELF! Talk about a smack in the face! And here comes security to break this up, finally! Even commissioner Justin Toner is coming out to get some control back, and he does not look happy!
MH: I don't blame him. These two are not under NEWA contract! They were backstage as guests after doing an autograph signing earlier today! And now it turns out it was just to be around if RVD lost again tonight! And from the sounds of it, this is far from over, too.
TOURNAMENT QUARTER FINALS MATCH: "EXOTIC" ADRIAN STREET (with manager JAMES E. CORNETTE and valet MISS LINDA) vs. GORGEOUS GEORGE (with valet/manager CHERIE DUPRE)
The Toast of the Town takes quick control at the onset of the match, and deploys his dirty tricks early as the Georgie Pins come out after a dropkick, and Cherie Dupre grabs Street's ankle as he bounces off the ropes while George gets onto the second turnbuckle for a flying tackle into a pinning combination for a two count. George tries for the Rolling Hiplocks, but Cornette has seen enough and pulls Street's foot onto the apron to thwart the chance at victory. George still won't let up, and goes for the Spinning Toehold, and Street is still hanging on. George goes for the Gerogie Pins again, but Street swats his hands away, and starts mounting a comeback, eventually downing George with a running splash. Within a moment, he connects with a crucifix, and the ref counts to three! WINNER: "EXOTIC" ADRIAN STREET!
LK: Take a look at that! Adrian Street just willpowered his way through every trick in George's book!
MH: And not in the least thanks to his manager's help! Cornette knew he had to act or else he'd have no one else in contention for the World Title. Now his man Street will go on to face the winner of Buddy Rogers and Lou Thesz!
TOURNAMENT QUARTER FINALS MATCH: LOU THESZ vs. "NATURE BOY" BUDDY ROGERS
These two waste no time, going to blows quickly with Rogers picking up some advantage with hard punches and elbow drops. Rogers gets cocky, slapping Thesz and the strutting about the ring, only to turn around into a side headlock followed by a rolling short-arm scissors. Thesz hits some impressive scientific moves as well as some wonderful dropkicks, but when he returns to the side headlock Rogers pushes out of it. The Nature Boy attempts a flying head scissors, only for Thesz to begin a series of back and forth counters between the two veteran grapplers. The airplane spin leads to a 2 count for Thesz after a good six minutes of in ring action for the two of them.
The chain of reversals continues, as attempts to attack prone foes in the turnbuckles fail, until Thesz somehow lands a Greco-Roman Backdrop after countering being tossed to the ropes. He still only gets as far as a 2 count. The Thesz Press also only gets a two, and again the back and forth jockeying resumes until Thesz comes out of nowhere with a second Thesz Press for the three count! WINNER: LOU THESZ!
MH: And there it is! Our last semi-finalist, and wow, did these two fight to get to this point!
LK: Lou Thesz versus Adrian Street, and Bobo Brazil versus Harley Race. Any one of those four men could this time next week be the first ever NEWA World Champion!
MAIN EVENT: "MACHO MAN" RANDY SAVAGE (with valet PENELOPE FORD) vs. THE IRON SHEIK
No two ways about it, Randy Savage had the Iron Sheik's number tonight. A series of quick jabs, a neckbreaker clothesline, a vaulting neck snap, and finally the Flying Elbow Smash. Sheiky Baby never got any offense in. WINNER: "MACHO MAN" RANDY SAVAGE!
LK: Will you look at that! Savage has made a statement, being that whomever wins the World Title tournament had better watch out for him, because he is going to be in the hunt!
MH: As if there was any doubt. Savage was probably not going to settle for sharing the glory with a tag partner, no matter how well he and Rhino worked together. It's only a matter of time before he asserts himself into the World Title picture.
LK: Folks, that's all the time we have! For Maryellen Huss, I'm Linwood Knight wishing you all a good night!

FEBRUARY 19TH, 2019 BUFFALO STATE SPORTS ARENA, BUFFALO, NY NEWA BRAWL-OUT EPISODE 8
WEB PRE-SHOW EXCLUSIVE MATCH: SAMURAY DEL SOL vs. "MR. PERFECT" CURT HENNIG (with manager BOBBY "THE BRAIN" HEENAN)
In this rematch from the tournament's opening rounds, Hennig simply dominates, winning following 2 Perfect Plexes. WINNER: "MR. PERFECT" CURT HENNIG!
WEB PRE-SHOW EXCLUSIVE MATCH: THE CRUSHER vs. REDD DOGG
Very competitive match for these two men making their NEWA debuts, with a ton of brawling and choke holds that the ref gives a lot of leeway towards. Two consecutive Blackouts gives Redd Dogg the three count. WINNER: REDD DOGG!
SHOW OPENING
LK: Ladies and gentlemen, this is it! This is the finale to the Shuffle Down to Buffalo Tournament! Tonight, legacies begin and legends will grow! Hello everyone, Linwood Knight here with "The Mauler" Maryellen Huss, and tonight Bobo Brazil squares off with Harley Race while "Exotic" Adrian Street battles Lou Thesz in the tournament semi-finals matches.
MH: And two of those men will go on to our main event in a 15 foot high steel cage to determine who will be the first to hold the NEWA World Championship! All four of these men are decorated champions, none of them are strangers to cage matches, this promises to be a classic no matter what combination of wrestlers we have in our final match.
LK: On top of that, the four men who did not advance into the semi-finals will also be potentially pulling double duty tonight. Ted DiBiase and Pampero Firpo will square off, as well Gorgeous George and "Nature Boy" Buddy Rogers. The winners of those matches will face off later tonight and one of them will be our first North American Champion!
MH: Four top caliber talents who only just came up short, and they also happen to be four of the most ruthless men in the business today! The odd man out may well be the unpredictable Bull of the Pampas, considering he's not cut from the jet setting, fancy living crowd the other three savor being a part of.
LK: If that weren't enough, fourteen women will enter the ring at one time in a massive battle royal, with the winner being crowned our first NEWA Women's Champion!
MH: A lot of talented women are making their first appearances here tonight, including Japanese sensation Tomoka Nakagawa and the lethal Jessicka Havok. Some of them are under "one night only" contracts hoping to score a regular deal here with a victory, so this match may well change the landscape of the women's ranks by more than naming a champion.
LK: And certainly not least of all, four tag teams will enter a Fatal Fourway match to determine our first Tag Team Champions. The Bolsheviks, the Road Warriors, the Metalheads and the Taylors will unleash all kinds of havoc in this match!
MH: And the biggest targets seem to be on the Road Warriors and the Metalheads, the former thanks to their reputation as dominant champs wherever they happen to go, and the latter for numerous antics over the past few weeks, up to and including bribery!
LK: From top to bottom, it's going to be a historic night in this federation's young life, so let's not waste any more time! Take it away Mike Cusey!
NEWA NORTH AMERICAN TITLE QUALIFIER MATCH: PAMPERO FIRPO (with manager JAMES E. CORNETTE) vs. "MILLION DOLLAR MAN" TED DIBIASE
DiBiase gets the jump on the Bull, and dominates so much Cornette has to distract the ref while DiBiase has his opponent in an early match Million Dollar Dream. Firpo eventually rolls out of the ring, and DiBiase follows, and the two brawl on the outside almost getting a double disqualification, but commissioner Justin Toner arrives and declares that with a title potentially at stake for these two men later on, this match MUST have a winner! Firpo takes quick advantage of this, rolling DiBiase back into the ring and biting down on his arm. The two continue to brawl, DiBiase landing a variety of suplexes and Firpo striking and biting, until the Million Dollar Man tries the Dream again close enough for Cornette to grab onto his leg. DiBiase gets out of the ring and has some choice words for James E, but Firpo strikes from behind and takes control back.
The action continues furiously, neither man holding an advantage for very long, and a series of turnbuckle reversals leads to Firpo getting a surprise roll-up for a 2 count. Sensing blood in the water, Firpo drags DiBiase into the center of the ring, and locks in El Garfio! DiBiase submits! WINNER: PAMPERO FIRPO!
(Part 2 will include Buddy Rogers vs Gorgeous George, the NEWA Women's Championship Battle Royal, and both of the tournament Semi-Finals matches!)

(And now, part 2 of 3!)
LK: Pampero Firpo continues to simply dominate the competition, his match with Harley Race last week notwithstanding.
MH: And Ted DiBiase is probably out to get the best tetanus shot money can buy after being bitten by the Bull of the Pampas that many times!
NEWA NORTH AMERICAN TITLE QUALIFIER MATCH: GORGEOUS GEORGE (with manager/valet CHERIE DUPRE) vs. "NATURE BOY" BUDDY ROGERS
A distraction from Dupre leads to George trying for a super quick pinfall, but no such luck. George cheats early but fails to get Rogers up for a body slam, and the Nature Boy hits a dropkick and gets his own 2 count on the Gorgeous one. Rogers lifts up George by the neck, lands another dropkick for a second 2 count, and then locks in the Figure Four Grapevine. Cherie Dupre tries to help, but she's too late; George taps out, and Rogers advances. WINNER: "NATURE BOY" BUDDY ROGERS!
LK: An impressively quick victory for the Nature Boy over Gorgeous George there, and he's going to still have plenty in the tank when it comes time to take on Pampero Firpo later tonight.
MH: If I were Cornette, I'd be giving Firpo all the advice I can right now, because this is one opponent who wrote most of the tricks in the book!
NEWA WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP BATTLE ROYAL: Participants - TRISH STRATUS, JAZZ, BAYLEY, PENELOPE FORD, COURTNEY RUSH, BRITTANY BLAKE, THUNDERKITTY, APRIL HUNTER, MADISON RAYNE, MARIA MANIC, MALIA HOSAKA, JESSICKA HAVOK, TOMOKA NAKAGAWA, HEIDI LOVELACE
Order of Elimination: 1: THUNDERKITTY (by Penelope Ford) 2:BRITTANY BLAKE (by Tomoka Nakagawa) 3. MALIA HOSAKA (by Madison Rayne) 4. HEIDI LOVELACE (by Trish Stratus) 5. COURTNEY RUSH (by Jazz) 6. MARIA MANIC (by Bayley) 7. PENELOPE FORD (by Bayley) 8. JESSICKA HAVOK (by Madison Rayne) 9. BAYLEY (by Jazz) 10. MADISON RAYNE (by April Hunter) 11. JAZZ (by Trish Stratus) 12. APRIL HUNTER (by Trish Stratus) 13. TRISH STRATUS (by Tomoka Nakagawa)
WINNER: TOMOKA NAKAGAWA!
Highlight: April Hunter survived no fewer than 5 elimination attempts!
Highlight: Courtney Rush returned to ringside to assault Bayley following the latter's elimination, and the two of them brawled to the back.
LK: Tomoka Nakagawa has done it! She has survived a mass array of tremendous talent to become our first ever Women's Champion!
MH: We will open up next week's show with an interview with Ms. Nakagawa, while the story here doesn't seem to be over. Trish Stratus is indicating she wants a shot at that belt, and soon.
LK: Well, I'm not sure when that will occur, but I can confirm this right now: commissioner Justin Toner has just sent me a text that he has signed a match for the next Brawl Out in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada between Bayley and Courtney Rush, so hopefully this matter between Stratus' henchwoman and the former Horsewoman can get closer to some closure!
SHUFFLE DOWN TO BUFFALO TOURNAMENT SEMI-FINALS MATCH: HARLEY RACE (with manager BOBBY "THE BRAIN" HEENAN) vs. BOBO BRAZIL
Race opens strong, striking fast and scoring a back suplex on Brazil within the opening moments of the match. Brazil counters out of the corner with a lariat, and takes control with a big body slam and a head scissors, only scoring a 2 count for his trouble. Race catches Brazil with a clothesline at the same time as Brazil, though, and is up just a few seconds quicker, and tries for a pin after a vertical suplex and only gets a 2. The sheer toughness of these two men comes to the fore as they continue to trade offense evenly, but as Brazil begins to gain the advantage, Race exits the ring. Brazil follows, and the two begin to brawl but they both answer the ref's 10 count. Again neither man can quite get the other in a pinning combination or submission attempt, until Race lands the piledriver for another 2 count. Race keeps the pressure on, hitting a vertical suplex and again only getting a 2 count, but the second piledriver is enough to knock Brazil out for the three count. WINNER: HARLEY RACE!
LK: Well, Heenan didn't even interfere on his man's behalf, so you can't really say Brazil was robbed this time, but given how far he's come in this tournament, he's got to be in the picture for future title matches down the line, Maryellen.
MH: Absolutely, and right now, while the Brain is clearly overjoyed, Race looks like he's already planning what he should do against whomever wins out next match-up.
SHUFFLE DOWN TO BUFFALO TOURNAMENT SEMI-FINALS MATCH: "EXOTIC" ADRIAN STREET (with manager JAMES E. CORNETTE and valet MISS LINDA) vs. LOU THESZ
Street tries to lock Thesz in a chicken wing early on, but Thesz quickly reverses the hold and begins to methodically wear down the exotic one. About two minutes in Thesz sends Street into the corner, but he's caught by the man from the Royal Forest of Dean with a quick, and unsuccessful, pin attempt. Street pours it on, but even the Crucifix won't put Thesz away, and ultimately a face ripper is countered by Thesz and a dropkick sends Street to the mat. Thesz gets his first attempt at a pinfall following an airplane spin, but also comes up short. Once Street manages to smash Thesz from the corner, he hits a multitude of splashes, and Thesz is down for the three count! WINNER: "EXOTIC" ADRIAN STREET!
LK: Can you believe this! Adrian Street has beaten back one of the remaining favorites to win this tournament in Lou Thesz!
MH: Either this man or Harley Race will leave tonight as our first world champion, and with Pampero Firpo in contention for the North American title still, James E. Cornette may leave tonight with two major singles titles in his camp!
(Part 3 will crown our remaining champions! Stay tuned!)

(And now, the stunning conclusion!)
NEWA TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP FATAL FOUR WAY MATCH: THE BOLSHEVIKS (NIKOLAI VOLKOFF & BORIS ZHUKOV) vs. THE ROAD WARRIORS (HAWK & ANIMAL with manager "PRECIOUS" PAUL ELLERING) vs. THE METALHEADS (CESAR SLEAZE & DIZZY LIXX) vs. THE TAYLORS ("TUGBOAT" TAYLOR & CHAZ TAYLOR)
Dizzy Lixx jumps Animal from behind, while the Zhukov and Chazz Taylor begin to duke it out. The action is quite chaotic here, so we'll stick to highlights and the elimination order for these as well.
ELIMINATION 1: THE BOLSHEVIKS by The Taylors via Chaztizer on Boris Zhukov! ELIMINATION 2: THE METALHEADS by The Taylors via a running corner splash from Chaz on Dizzy Lixx! ELIMINATION 3: THE TAYLORS by the Road Warriors via the Doomsday Device on "Tugboat" Taylor! WINNERS AND NEW NEWA TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: THE ROAD WARRIORS!
HIGHLIGHT: Chaz counters an attempted back body drop by Zhukov and then lands the Chazztizer within a minute of the match starting! "Tugboat" Taylor quickly keeps Volkoff from breaking up the three count. The crowd lept to their feet after this one, eager for any babyface momentum after the tournament matches previously.
HIGHLIGHT: "Tugboat" Taylor survives the first Doomsday Device of the match when Chaz breaks the pin!
LK: Ol' Tugboat took so much punishment from the Road Warriors, it'll be a wonder if he can even see straight in the morning!
MH: But take nothing away from the Taylors, especially Chaz scoring the pins on the other two teams!
NEWA NORTH AMERICAN TITLE MATCH: PAMPERO FIRPO (with manager JAMES E. CORNETTE) vs. "NATURE BOY" BUDDY ROGERS
Rogers takes the advantage right at the bell with a flying head scissors, followed by a pair of dropkicks. Rogers then begins to choke Firpo, but Cornette pulls the Nature Boy out of the ring, yelling at Firpo to take a shot while Cornette holds Rogers in place. You can guess how well that ends for Cornette; it doesn't once Rogers ducks. The Nature Boy continues to dominate, a piledriver only earning him a two count. Rogers tries to send him into the turnbuckle, but the Bull of the Pampas counters with a head butt. He tries for a jumping head ringer, but Rogers gets out of the way, and eventually sends Firpo out of the ring. Once he gets back in, Rogers locks in the Figure Four grapevine, but again Cornette pulls on Rogers', sending the Nature Boy's wilder side out of control and out of the ring. Cornette uses his tennis racquet to volly away Rogers' blows long enough for the ref to count to 10! WINNER VIA COUNT-OUT AND NEW NEWA NORTH AMERICAN CHAMPION: PAMPERO FIRPO!
LK: Just look at Rogers! He's been robbed by Cornette's antics and he knows it!
MH: And Cornette can't run out of there fast enough! The fans are actually cheering for Rogers here, and I can't blame them!
LK: As it stands, though, Firpo was still legally in the match when the ref counted to 10, so he is in fact our first North American Champion! Right now, the crew needs some time to get the cage for our main event into position, so let's go now to Alicia Coast standing by with Bobby Heenan and Harley Race!
BACKSTAGE INTERVIEW AREA:
AC: Bobby, your man Harley was clearly the #1 seed for a reason in this tournament, and he's successfully taken on all competition to get to this point. What are your thoughts going into this cage match
BOBBY HEENAN: It couldn't be more natural for this to have gotten to this point, toots! Harley Race may not be wearing a crown anymore, but nobody can deny that he's wrestling royalty! He sent the Milkman back to his dairy route, he left Matt Riddle asking all the questions after their match, he successfully took the Bull of the Pampas by the horns, and he left Bobo Brazil so hurt, he's going to be called Booboo Brazil from now on! Now all that's left between him and what's rightfully his is Adrian Street and his small goon squad of James E. Cornette and Miss Linda, and we're- hey, Coast, are you paying attention, aren't they paying you to focus or what?! Who is that you're talking to?
AC: As a matter of fact, Bobby, I've just been informed that all mangers and valets have been banned from ringside for the duration of this match. Commissioner Justin Toner wants absolutely no illegal objects snuck in, no assistance getting out of the cage, the match will be as strictly one on one as this can be made.
BOBBY HEENAN: And that means me, too, right?
AC: That's correct.
BOBBY HEENAN: But I haven't even done any-
HARLEY RACE: Don't get sore about this, Bobby, this works to our advantage. Street, all your antics, your prancing, your mind games, they don't mean a thing to me. That steel cage means you can't escape being stretched out within an inch of your life, and now you have no help, and I know your two person brain trust must have been working on something. When this is all done, you're going to be the most glittering grease stain in wrestling history. We're done here, Alicia.
AC: Well, thank you gentlemen for your time, we now turn to NEWA President James Irish who is standing by with Adrian Street.
LOCKER ROOM AREA:
JAMES IRISH: Well, as much as I was hoping to get a quick word with James E Cornette about Pampero Firpo's unlikely victory after I was finished talking with Adrian Street here, Cornette has actually left the building to escape Buddy Rogers' wrath! So Adrian, I turn the floor over to you.
ADRIAN STREET: Rugged, burley Harley Race! You are quite the sight, you know that? And if I'm going to be perfectly honest with you, I do have some measure of respect for what you've accomplished. You're a very naughty, wicked man, Harley, just like me. Oh, we go about it in different ways, but at the end of the day it's all about winning for both of us, isn't it? You want to say my games mean nothing to you? I don't need games to overcome you in this match. I know you've seen what I do to men who are beneath me, now imagine what I'm going to be capable of when I'm up against a man of your caliber. Mmm!
JI: Alright, there you have it! Linwood, Maryellen, the ball is back in your capable hands.
SHUFFLE DOWN TO BUFFAO FINALS - CAGE MATCH & NEWA WORLD TITLE MATCH: HARLEY RACE (withOUT manager BOBBY "THE BRAIN" HEENAN) vs. "EXOTIC" ADRIAN STREET (withOUT manager JAMES E. CORNETTE and valet MISS LINDA)
Once both men are in the cage and the door is locked, the two lock up with Race taking the advantage and putting Street into a headlock, one which Street soon reverses by pushing Race into the ropes but Race tackles him down on the second rebound. Race lands a suplex, and continues to maim Street until he blocks a punch and tries a fireman's carry throat drop, but Race powers his way out of that move. Street regains control after blocking another haymaker, and this time maintains it enough for a face ripper and a neckbreaker, into a Crucifix, but that was more for the impact of the move than for a pinning combination. Street does not escape the cage, but regains control for a few moments before Race counters an attack in the turnbuckle by slamming the Exotic One's face right into it!
Race attempts to climb out, but Street shakes him loose from the cage and the war resumes with Street again blocking a forearm slug from Race. Race again counters an attempted slam into the turnbuckle, however, and the two seem determined to counter everything the other has until Street locks in the Cobra Clutch. Believing he's done sufficient damage to Race, the Exotic One tries to leave but Race grabs his leg. Street just uses the cage to mercilessly maul Race's face, then makes another go of it only for Race again to pull Street back down. The two again begin to brawl, and Adrian begins getting the upper hand again with a neckbreaker, and a second one leaves Race laying. Street climbs the cage as Race lays in the ring, his face a bloody mess, and Street lands on the ground just as Race is getting to his knees! WINNER AND NEW NEWA WORLD CHAMPION: "EXOTIC" ADRIAN STREET!
LK: I see it and I still can't believe it! After overcoming the #1 seeded entry in the tournament, Adrian Street is now our first World Champion!
MH: Here comes Miss Linda to celebrate with her man! And if Cornette were still in the building, he'd be over the moon with both of his men holding singles gold in the NEWA!
LK: We are out of time for tonight, so for Maryellen Huss, I'm Linwood Knight, goodnight everybody!
