DATELINE: FEBRUARY 20TH, 2019
NEWA NEWS AND NOTES
NEWA President James Irish, Commissioner Justin Toner and Head of Talent Relations Seth Coast held a press conference this morning following their successful show in Buffalo, NY, to discuss the future of the North East Wrestling Alliance.
* Now that the four initial championships have been crowned, NEWA is going to get down to the business of keeping track of win-loss records within specific divisions. There are 12 spots in each division, including the respective champions, and title shots must be earned on a points system. 5 points are awarded for victories by pinfall, submission or a match's specific stipulation; 2 points for a victory by disqualification or count out; no points are awarded for draws. Spots in the World and North American divisions were divvied up this morning on a first come, first serve basis with management, and a Lightweight Division has also been opened for wrestlers under 225 pounds. Participation in the tag team ranks does not disqualify a competitor from being in the ranks for a singles title. A participating individual or team must earn 25 points to qualify for a #1 contenders match, and should a wrestler leave the territory, his or her win/loss record will be reset. A full breakdown of each division as they currently stand is at the bottom of this news update, but a few specific notes were given.
* Steve Corino and Chris Candido have formally signed with the company following their surprise appearance at last weeks show in Rochester, NY. Considering they have not competed with the company in any official capacity as yet, they were not qualified to join the World or North American divisions, and thus are signed with the tag team ranks. President Irish commented that this wasn't a dealbreaker for the veteran duo, since Rob Van Dam and Jerry Lynn are also participating in the tag team ranks which suits Corino and Candido's main goals at this time.
* After his successful match last night in a web-exclusive preshow match, Rodney Mack aka Redd Dogg has agreed to a deal with NEWA on a longer term basis, and will be participating in the North American Title division. His opponent last night, Reggie Lisowski aka The Crusher, could not accept an offer at this time as his appearance was arranged with the Finger Lakes Wrestling Federation in exchange for Randy Savage appearing for one night only in their territory.
* The relationship with FLWF will continue into the future, since that federation runs shows in Western NY as well and if those areas are going to be shared, friendly terms and the potential for fresh match-ups are far preferable to the negative alternatives in the always dramatic world of professional wrestling negotiations. In fact, NEWA confirmed that FLWF star Nick Bockwinkle will be appearing at their show in Toronto in two weeks in a non-title match against "Exotic" Adrian Street, while NEWA's own Iron Sheik will appear that same week for FLWF in a non-title match against their World Champion, Magnum TA.
* The hunt is on for more participants to join the Lightweight Division, and NEWA has in fact confirmed two more high profile signings in Homicide and Jay Lethal, currently bringing that division up to nine participants. Similarly, additional tag teams are being sought after, with several names who are currently free agents being bandied about but unfortunately nothing could be confirmed at press time.
* Noted wrestling blogger Frieda Benjamin asked about "Nature Boy" Buddy Rogers being in the North American title ranks. Commissioner Toner confirmed that this was, in fact, Rogers' choice, claiming he had "unfinished business" with Pampero Firpo.
* Of the remaining male competitors active in the federation, Jake "The Milkman" Milliman has opted not to be in contention for any title, opting instead to focus on being a road agent for the company and also working in the ring with incoming talent to evaluate them for future roles within the company. NEWA is grateful for Milliman's continued commitment to the company and notes that the door is open for him to join the North American division should the company expand to larger division sizes.
* Following her championship victory in Buffalo, Tomoka Nakagawa has been formally signed to a long-term contract by NEWA. Jessicka Hacok and Malia Hosaka have also accepted deals with the company to officially join its women's division. The remaining one-night-only participants in the battle royal, Heidi Lovelace, Thunderkitty and Maria Manic are pursuing other opportunities in other territories; Seth Coast says the door will always be open for them to return should they so desire.
* In the wake of that, phone calls are being made to fill out the women's division as well. Coast did not mention any specifics, but according to the aforementioned blogger Frieda Benjamin, names such as Penny Banner, Nora Greenwald, Sherri Martell and Mia Yim have been rumored for the 12th spot.

FEBRUARY 26TH, 2019 GALE CENTRE, NIAGARA FALLS, ONTARIO, CANADA NEWA BRAWL-OUT EPISODE 9
WEB PRE-SHOW EXCLUSIVE MATCH: DIZZY LIXX vs. SAMURAY DEL SOL
This one starts faster than you can blink, with Del Sol ducking a clothesline and then nailing Lixx to the mat with an Asai DDT. He maintains control for a while, but Lixx reverses a step-up tornilla and Glam Slam's Del Sol down for a 2 count (P3/R10). Heavy Metal gets the same result (P4/R12). Lixx throws Del Sol out of the ring and goes after his knee with the ring bell's hammer, getting himself disqualified! WINNER BY DISQUALIFICATION: SAMURAY DEL SOL!
WEB PRE-SHOW EXCLUSIVE MATCH: "BULLET" BOB ARMSTRONG vs. GORGEOUS GEORGE (with manager/valet CHERIE DUPRE)
Neither man wastes any time, with George trying for a submission quickly with a Spinning Toehold early on (P4/R5). The Gorgeous Grip is followed by an airplane spin into a pinning combination, but only a 2 count follows (P4/R8). The Rolling Hiplocks don't find success, either (P5/R8). George climbs the turnbuckle, but Armstrong recovers and throws him back down to the mat! George counters a head butt attempt, only to get put in a school boy when Armstrong comes off the ropes (P3/R10). Armstrong keeps it up until George counters a fireman's carry, and he slowly begins mounting a second offensive set, culminating in a flying tackle from the ring apron to the floor, then rolling Armstrong back into the ring and applying the Rolling Hiplocks again, yet Armstrong still refuses to stay down (P6/R7)! George seethes for a moment, locks in the Spinning Toehold, and Armstrong finally submits (P8/R6) WINNER: GORGEOUS GEORGE!
SHOW OPENING
Rather than the show starting with Linwood Knight and Maryellen Huss in the ring, Alicia Coast is there, standing by for the subjects of her interview.
ALICIA COAST: Ladies and gentlemen, along with their managers James E. Cornette and Miss Linda, please welcome your new NEWA North American Champion, Pampero Firpo, and your new NEWA World Champion, "Exotic" Adrian Street!
*To the glam-rock infused sounds of Street's self-recorded theme song "Imagine What I Can Do To You," Camp Cornette comes to the ring and between Cornette's loud suit, Street's outlandish attire and Miss Linda's leopard-print, figure-flattering outfit, the Bull of the Pampas for once is the least unusual sight in this crowd!*
AC: James, in a career of managing champions, having brought two men to be amongst the inaugural singles title holders in this federation has to be a highlight.
JAMES CORNETTE: Well, it's certainly nice to rub in the faces of every one of these North Eastern elites who think a good ol' Southern Boy couldn't do squat here in this part of the country! I heard it all, the laughter, the skepticism, the mockery, you name it! They said "The Bull of the Pampas is too uncontrollable," "Adrian Street is too small," on and on until every know-it-all hack wrestling journalist, self-important blogger and overstuffed fanboy turned blue in the face! I've invested a lot of time, a lot of brainpower, and a lot of my mother's money into these two men, and as far as it paying off, who's laughing now, hahahahaha!
*Adrian Street takes the mic from Alicia*
ADRIAN STREET: It's all rather plan as day that the competition here in this North East federation is rather lacking! There's a few highlights, Harley Race sure, and that lovely man Gorgeous George, but it should say it all that the management here needed to institute a ranking system just to come up with a proper #1 contender for me. And more than that, they have to import men from other federations just to give me a decent challenge! It could be months before one of the miserable little toe rags competing here even qualifies! I mean, Matt Riddle? It's a riddle how he's even considered worthy of being here! Rhino belongs in a zoo right alongside his namesakes! And if you were to execute Randy Savage for being a pro wrestler, you'd be hanging an innocent man! Are things much better on your side of the divisions, Pampero?
*Street hands Firpo the mic*
PAMPERO FIRPO: I don't care who you put in front me! You shoot the Bullet Bob Armstrong at me, I'll catch the bullet with my teeth, chew him up, and spit him out flatter than a quarter! Jumping Jim Brunzell will be grounded faster than he can even think! Hacksaw Jim Duggan will be cut down to wood shavings along with his precious 2 by 4! This Bull is already seeing red, and no one will be able to stop me. OOOOOOOOOOOOOH YEAAAAAAAAAAAH!
*Cornette takes the mic back now that Firpo is done.*
JAMES CORNETTE: The point is, Alicia, these belts are staying right where you see them. The day they leave Camp Cornette will be the day we decide to go on to new territories. Start learning to live with it!
With the interview over, Linwood and Maryellen take over from their position at ringside.
LINWOOD KNIGHT: Welcome to Brawl Out, everyone, I'm Linwood Knight, joined by Maryellen Huss, and Camp Cornette sounds more than confident, but if they keep talking like that, they might be counting their title reign in days and not weeks!
MARYELLEN HUSS: If competition in MMA has taught me anything, it's that you never, ever let your ego and your boasting precede you too much. Any match has a chance to lead to a loss, and braggadocio will only make it more humiliating.
LK: Still, Street did allude to our new ranking system here in NEWA, and tonight is the first night it's active. We've already had two matches that will be on our YouTube channel tomorrow that have been ranked, and our first televised ranked match is after the break, with Acid Jaz battling the debuting Homicide!
MH: Acid Jaz's career here so far has had its ups and downs, but Homicide might be the most violent opponent he's had here to date. The former member of LAX is looking to add to his legacy with another belt once the Lightweight Division's title is instated.
LK: Following that, our North American title division will begin to sort itself out as Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake laces up to battle the Blueblood, David Taylor.
MH: Neither man has had much traction here in NEWA so far, and this match could be a turning point for both of them, for better or worse!
LK: The women's division also gets into gear tonight with two matches, the first of which will see Malia Hosaka make her singles debut against April Hunter!
MH: Two very different women going toe to toe here. Can Hosaka keep April's comparative power at bay? I can't wait to find out.
LK: Neither can I, and following that match, The Taylors will be the first to battle Steve Corino and Chris Candido as we begin ranking our tag team division.
MH: Security had to be posted at all possible entrances at last week's Buffalo show to intercept Corino and Candido, and now that they're officially contracted, hopefully they'll start behaving themselves. I don't see it happening, though.
LK: Our first match for the World Title division follows that, and it will pit Bobo Brazil against King Kong Bundy!
MH: These two have unfinished business going all the way back to our first show, Linwood, and it could get very messy in there tonight for both of them.
LK: Our second ranked women's match is another simmering grudge about to explode, Maryellen, as Bayley and Courtney Rush will get a chance to settle their differences in the ring!
MH: You and I both know it won't end there, especially if Trish Stratus has anything to say about it. She and Rush seem to be taking perverse joy in humiliating one of the best public faces of the business we've had in a long time!
LK: Another Tag Team Contest is in the card tonight as well, with Rob Van Dam and Jerry Lynn battling Brian Christopher and Rock Riddle.
MH: Van Dam and Lynn are eager to turn their bad fortunes around, Linwood, and tonight it might happen since Christopher and his partner/manager Rock Riddle are only making their debut as a team tonight.
LK: Finally, in our main event, a grudge that started in the Shuffle Down to Buffalo Tournament will come to a head, as "Nature Boy" Buddy Rogers battles Road Warrior Animal in a Turnbuckle Smash Match!
MH: An old school kind of match for two old school men, Linwood. Animal requested this one to give Rogers what he has coming to him for getting him disqualified from the tournament.
LK: We'll be right back with our first match of the night after this commercial break!
SINGLES MATCH: ACID JAZ vs. HOMICIDE
Jaz knows Homicide's reputation well, throwing him to the ropes and quickly taking advantage of the surprise by hitting Sliced Chocolate to try to put him away right away! It's way too early for that, though (P2/R6). Jaz scurries up the turnbuckle, hoping to do massive damage, but Homicide catches him and slams him down for a 2 count (P3/R6)! Homicide lays it on from there, nailing a lariat and an Ace Crusher before hitting Jaz with Da Gringo Killer for a definitive 3 count (P6/R3) WINNER: HOMICIDE!
LK: If the ring were a classroom, Homicide just took Acid Jaz to school.
MH: I really can't blame Jaz for trying, though, Linwood. If it were me, I'd have gone for it quickly just to keep as much distance as I could from me and that fork of Homicide's!
(Part 2 of 3 to come tomorrow, with three more matches and more!)

SINGLES MATCH: BRUTUS "THE BARBER" BEEFCAKE vs. DAVID TAYLOR
Beefcake starts by ramming Taylor's head into the turnbuckles, and throws him to the other one where Taylor actually manages to send the Barber over the top rope and out of the ring. Brutus recovers quickly, though, pulling Taylor legs and sending him crotch first into the turnbuckle post! The offense continues for Beefcake, with Taylor getting no chance to get any in himself save for matching one of Beefcake's clotheslines with one of his own. Brutus recovers first, though, and continues the assault until Taylor finally counters a running elbow into the corner. The comeback isn't quite fully fledged, as Beefcake continues to pepper hits in, enough to surprise Taylor with a quick roll up and a two count (P4/R7). Taylor again tries a comeback, but Brutus sends him spilling out of the ring this time, and soon things even up a little more until Beefcake hits a lariat, goes for a pin, and gets 2 and three quarters (P5/R6)
Following dueling turnbuckle reversals, Taylor surprises Beefcake with a bear hug into an atomic drop, only scoring a 2 count with the following pin (P3/R8). A floatover fallaway slam also leads to a 2 count (P4/R8). Feeling the momentum turning, Taylor keeps up the pressure, going so far as to smack Beefcake in the gut with the butt of his flag pole! Beefcake counters a falling double sledge a few moments later, and the two trade blows until Taylor can clothesline the Barber down. Taylor hooks the leg after a vertical suplex, only for Beefcake to just barely get his shoulder up (P6/R7). Taylor signals for, and lands, the British Suplex, and that finally puts Beefcake away for the 3 count. (P8/R6) WINNER: DAVID TAYLOR!
LK: I'm hardly a fan of his using the flag like that, it strikes me as disrespectful to his national symbol, but I will still give David Taylor credit for a hard fought victory.
MH: This may give him some momentum going further into the North American title race, Linwood. And Beefcake does not look happy at this loss, either.
SINGLES MATCH: MALIA HOSAKA vs. APRIL HUNTER
The two lock up, and Malia quickly takes advantage with a rolling front face lock, and sends Hunter into the turnbuckles only to be greeted with a knee to the face. Hunter sends Hosaka back and forth between the turnbuckles, smashing her face in each time, before flooring her with a big clothesline. The Hunter's Hangman does its damage, but Hosaka is able to escape an attempted sidewalk slam and lays in the karate kicks until Hunter falls. A cover follows, barely getting a 2 count (P3/R8). Hosaka maintains the pressure with a series of strikes, but gets another knee to the face from April in the turnbuckles, stopping her momentum. A power bomb follows from April, but Hosaka ducks a kick, locks in an arm bar, and floors April long enough to land a flying double chop! Hosaka lands another series of kicks, but again can only get a 2 count (P4/R9)
Hosaka attempts a top rope arm drag, but Hunter is able to power her way out of it and power bombs Hosaka to the mat again. April applies the Hunter Lock, but Hosaka makes it to the ropes. April goes to town with suplexes, hitting a German suplex then a fisherman's suplex, then hits the Head Hunter for a three count (P5/R5). WINNER: APRIL HUNTER!
TAG TEAM MATCH: THE TAYLORS ("TUGBOAT" TAYLOR & CHAZ TAYLOR) vs. "HTE SUICIDE BLONDE" CHRIS CANDIDO & "THE KING OF OLD SCHOOL" STEVE CORINO
Chaz opts to start for the Taylors, while Steve Corino begins the match for his team. Corino stalls, pacing the ring and keeping his distance, and Cadido talks some smack to Chaz Taylor, giving Corino the chance to do a sneak attack. Steve Corino hits a pair of DDTs, putting Chaz on his back, then Corino picks him up, throws him into the corner, waylays him with a clothesline before tossing him out of the ring. Corino lands a jumping leg drop onto the back of Chaz Taylor's neck, and Chaz barely makes it back into the ring with his father's help reviving him before the ref counts to 10 (P4/R10). Chris Candido is tagged in, and the punishment on Chaz continues until Chaz reverses an arm bar takedown and downs Candido with a turnbuckle headlock takeover. Chaz tags in the big Tugboat, who splashes Candido in the corner. The cagey veteran Candido slips away from the elder Taylor's grasp and tags the King of Old School back into the ring.
Corino, however, bites off more than he can chew by attempting to brainbuster his considerably larger opponent, who blocks it and lands a power slam on Corino instead. A second, then a third power slam just takes all the wind out of Corino, and the ref gets a 3 count before Candido can break up the pin (P3/R3)! WINNERS: THE TAYLORS!
LK: The Taylors continue to impress following their excellent showing in the Fatal Fourway last week! What a victory!
MH: Chris Candido is taking severe issue with the referee, complaining of a fast count, but the decision is standing, and you have to imagine some people in the back are rather enjoying this.
LK: We don't have to imagine for long, Alicia Coast is backstage right now with Rob Van Dam and Jerry Lynn!
BACKSTAGE INTERVIEW:
ALICIA COAST: RVD, I have to imagine you're feeling a little schadenfreude after watching Corino and Candido take that loss against the Taylors.
ROB VAN DAM: *chuckles* It's funny, actually. These two guys, who Jerry and I have a history with back in E-C-Dub, they're learning just like we learned that it's time to adapt to the changing times, boys! This is NEWA, where past, present and future collide harder than a couple 'a semis crashing on the icy pavement in this winter weather here in Niagara Falls! One week you're against the Road Warriors, the next week it could be an old school shooter like Lou Thesz, the week after that it's those braindead Metalheads, you need to learn how to switch gears quick! Steve, Chris, you guys really thought you could walk in here and dominate like it was nothing? What have you been smoking, man?!
JERRY LYNN: The only smoke they ought to be worried about is from the friction of hitting the canvas at record speed once we finally meet in the ring! Yeah, it's been a rough start here in NEWA for us, but Rob and I are not quitters, we have never been quitters, and we will never be quitters! We're going to start at the bottom if we have to, and you really don't get much closer to the bottom than Brian Christopher and Rock Riddle, who will learn tonight that we are back in our stride!
ALICIA COAST: Solid words, gentlemen, we'll-
RVD: Hey, hold on, is that who I think it is?? Matt, Nick, guys, get over here!
*The Young Bucks step into the frame, wearing their Bullet Club gear*
MATT JACKSON: Hey! RVD! Jerry! Good to see you guys!
RVD: What are you guys doing here? I heard you were back in Japan!
NICK JACKSON: We just wrapped up that run, Rob, and we decided it was time to bring the superkick party back to the states. Alicia's husband Seth gave us a call, he told us he needed more tag teams to compete for their division, we just worked out the details on the contract, and here we are!
MATT JACKSON: Next week, boys! Any tag team that wants to know why we're on top of the tag team world, we'll see them in Toronto! And it'll be too sweet!!
(Part 3 of 3 goes up soon!)

SINGLES MATCH: BOBO BRAZIL vs. KING KONG BUNDY (with manager BOBBY "THE BRAIN" HEENAN)
Both men have this match well scouted; Brazil ducks a clothesline right at the bell and tries to send Bundy to the turnbuckles, but Bundy reverses that only to take a knee from Brazil when he reaches the turnbuckles. A pair of big hammer punches actually gets the bigger man off his feet, but when Brazil brings Bundy to the ropes, he gives him a stiff shot to the gut, gets in some more strikes, but Bobo is still too fresh as well to let Bundy stay in control for long. The problem for Brazil is Bundy's pretty fresh, too, and he puts on the breaks before Bobo can hit a dropkick. Bundy eats another knee from Brazil while the latter is in the turnbuckle, though. The two jostle for advantage even more until Brazil lands a Coco Butt right after tossing Bundy to the ropes! The first pin of the match only gets Brazil a 2 count (P3/R7)
After a grinding hammer lock attempt fails, The Brain makes his presence known and hands Bundy a roll of quarters. Brazil sees this, stomps the wrist of the hand Bundy was holding them in, and waylays Bundy with them before tossing them out of the ring (DQ5/R7)! Knocked out cold, Bundy is down for the three count (P4/R3)! WINNER: BOBO BRAZIL!
MH: Bundy is going to be furious at Heenan when he finally wakes up.
LK: A taste of the Weasel's own medicine, and he's screaming at the referee so loud you can hear him all the way in Hamilton!
SINGLES MATCH: BAYLEY vs. COURTNEY RUSH (with TRISH STRATUS)
The two lock up, and Bailey manages to force Rush into the turnbuckle and quickly lands a combination attack from there, putting the disturbed Winnipeg native down in record time! Bayley then sends Courtney into the ropes, lands a spinning elbow, then sends her again into the ropes only to realize she went to that well one too many times when Rush shoulder blocks her. Rush tries to send Bailey into the turnbuckle, but gets reversed, only for them to meet each other with striking knees to their respective opponent's guts. Bayley is up first, and seizes the advantage with a flying back elbow, and exploder suplex and a Bayley to Belly suplex! Bayley goes for the pin, but Trish gets the ref's attention before he can even count (DIST5/R3).
Following another flying back elbow, Rush powders out. Bayley follows but Rush is actually ready for her and gets the advantage of a nasty brawl by choking Bayley against the guard rail! Rush then rolls Bayley back into the ring to stop the 10 count, blows blue mist into Bayley's face (DQ5/R9), and clotheslines her back out where Trish lands a cheap shot before sending the lovable hugger back into the ring. Rush hits a butterfly suplex then sends Bayley into the turnbuckle. The San Jose native's instincts kick in, though, and she dodges and suplexes Rush out of the corner. Rush counters a second suplex, throws Bayley to the ropes, but sees her sunset flip attempt countered into a pin! Just a 2 count, though (P4/R9). Control goes back and forth from there as these two pull out all the stops, with Bayley scoring another 2 count along the way (P5/R7). Bayley maintains control but can't keep Rush down long enough, and Rush counters a monkey flip and hits the F5 on Bayley only to score a 2 count (P4/R7). A second F5 gets the same result (P5/R10). A frustrated Rush sends Bayley flying out of the ring yet again, only for Bayley to grab Rush's face and send her neck right into the second rope! The control doesn't last, and a thrid F5 from Rush gets a third 2 count (P6/R11)! All told, it takes four F5s to finally put Bayley down for the three count (P7/R6). WINNER: COURTNEY RUSH!
LK: Dammit, Trish is getting into the ring with a chair! The match is over, Bayley has taken four F5s, what more do you need to prove?
MH: She an Courtney are just being vicious to Bayley, but wait a second! Penelope Ford is returning the favor that Bayley provided her! And the Canadian Mean Girls are running fast!
TAG TEAM MATCH: ROB VAN DAM & JERRY LYNN vs. BRIAN CHRISTOPHER & ROCK RIDDLE
This one escalates *quickly* with RVD taking the offense to Christopher with a press slam, but Christopher gets away from a monkey flip attempt and floors RVD, following it up with a standing leg drop. An enziguri and another leg drop leads to a 2 count for Christopher (P2/R8). A full nelson facebuster leads to another 2 count (P3/R9) and Brian tags in Rock Riddle. Rock locks in his Boston Crab, but Lynn darts in and kicks Riddle right in the face (DQ7/R10). RVD quickly gets to the turnbuckle, lands the 5 Star Frog Splash, but Riddle barely kicks out (P6/R7)! Van Dam tags in Lynn, who tries to throw Riddle to the ropes, but Rock sends Lynn into them instead, only to get his sunset flip attempt turned into a nasty DDT, leading to another 2 count (P5/R8). Lynn keeps it up, eventually landing his Cradle Piledriver, but Christopher breaks up the pin!
Jerry Lynn tags RVD back in, who puts on a stunning display of his various moonsault variations before going for the body scissors cradle which does not get the victory (P6/R8). Rock Riddle eventually counters an attempted clothesline with a chop block, then hits an elbow on RVD before tagging Christopher in. Christopher bulldogs Van Dam to the mat, and scores a 2 count (P5/R9). Christopher continues to dominate, but in his cockyness he lets RVD get too close to his corner and Lynn scores a blind tag! Lynn socks it to Brian Christopher, throwing him out of the ring, but Christopher is waiting to nail him with a chair (DQ5/R6)! Christopher nails a pair of DDTs, a full nelson facebuster, and finally his Top Rope Leg Drop, and gets the three count before RVD can break it up (P4/R4)! WINNERS: BRIAN CHRISTOPHER & ROCK RIDDLE!
LK: Lynn is back up, and he can't believe it! Frankly, I can't, either!
MH: But I know who can believe it, and here comes Corino and Candido to rub it in the faces of RVD and Jerry Lynn! But the Show and Co are fighting back!
LK: These two tandems are going to collide sooner or later, and frankly, it may need to be a No DQ match just to get this thing settled!
MAIN EVENT TURNBUCKLE SMASH MATCH: ANIMAL (with manager "PRECIOUS" PAUL ELLERING) vs. "NATURE BOY" BUDDY ROGERS
RING ANNOUNCER MIKE CUSEY: Ladies and gentlemen, the goal of this match is as follows: whomever smashes his opponents head against all four turnbuckles will be the winner! There are no disqualifications, so there will be a conclusive winner tonight!
Once the bell rings, the two lock up, only for Rogers to slap the spit out of Animal's mouth, followed by his trademark cocky strut. The Nature Boy tries a running tackle, and finds the target immovable. Animal tries to return the favor with a shoulder ram, but Rogers dodges, slaps on a headlock, then strikes at Animal with a jumping knee smash. Rogers sends Animal into a turnbuckle, but the Road Warrior gets out of the way and takes over on offense, only for Rogers to return the favor after he himself lands in the corner. A dropkick later, and Rogers goes for the first attempt at the four turnbuckle smashes... which is blocked quickly by Animal (P2/R9). Rogers slaps Animal again, but this just makes him mad, leading to a series of strikes, but Rogers counters a front facelock and lands a flying head scissors. Rogers tries to throw Animal into the turnbuckle, which Animal turns into his first attempt at a turnbuckle smash, though Rogers prevents further success there (P1/R6).
The action spills out of the ring, where Rogers gets the upper hand by sending Animal into one of the camera men! Rolling Animal back into the ring, Rogers lays the hits on, but when Animal blocks a hard punch, it leads to the Road Warrior landing a press slam and a power bomb, but not making any progress with the turnbuckles (P2/R12). Rogers sails out of the ring again, where Ellering has a chair ready for Animal to jump up onto and hit Rogers with a flying knee! Once they're back in the ring, Animal hits the power bomb again, but again Rogers is too resilient to go to the turnbuckles afterwards (P3/R9). The reversals keep coming, these two seasoned warriors fighting tooth and nail for any advantage, until Animal lands a turnbuckle smash on Rogers following a flying shoulder ram (P4/R4), but he's blocked at the second attempt (P4/R12). Some more clubbing blows and another power slam from Animal, and he tries again for one (P5/R5), two (P5/R5), but not three (P5/R6). It's lather, rinse repeat for Animal,, and this time he gets one (P6/R6), two (P6/R6), but again not three (P6/R9). At this point Rogers is a bloody mess, and Animal is legitimately wondering what will finally take him down!
With a grin, he gets an idea, throwing the Nature Boy out of the ring, climbing up the turnbuckle, and elbow dropping him into the padded floor! Once Rogers is rolled back into the ring, he tries once more, and doesn't even get the first smash in (P7/R9)!! A boot to the midsection, a press slam and yes, another power slam, and Animal goes to the well again for one (P8/R6), two (P8/R3), and again can't get to three (P8/R12)!! The only thing keeping Rogers in this fight is pure adrenaline! The Road Warrior shakes his head, and seems to have Rogers out cold following another set of blows culminating in another elbow drop, and tries for the turnbuckles once more. One (P9/R5), two (P9/R6), three (P9/R8) and four (P9/R5)!! WINNER: ROAD WARRIOR ANIMAL!
LK: Finally, this massacre is over!
MH: And Animal is grabbing Mike Cusey's microphone, he's got something to say!
ANIMAL: Hold on, cut the music! ... I just want to say this to the Nature Boy, since I'm sure he'll hear it when he watches this match after he wakes up. Rogers, you're tougher than a two cent steak covered in ghost pepper sauce! I've seen a lot of beatings from both ends of the fists and boots, and brother, you just took everything I had like a man! We're not just even... you've earned my respect.
LK: I think that puts the exclamation point on this matter! And on that note, for Maryellen Huss, I'm Linwood Knight wishing you all a good night!
(PROMOTER'S NOTE: I changed the name of the stipulation to better reflect what I was working with. Sorry if there was any confusion! Thanks for reading!)

News Item, Dateline March 2nd 2019: NEWA CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS UPDATE
In the wake of the signing of the Young Bucks, Nick and Matt Jackson, NEWA continues to slowly but surely grow. Head of talent relations Seth Coast says he is seeking two more tag teams to fill out that division, and is investigating the contract situations of several teams who currently do not hold gold in other federations. Manager James E. Cornette has allegedly been making phone calls to previous business associates, according to wrestling blogger Frieda Benjamin, which could mean the arrival of a well-established duo to the federation.
The 12th, and currently final, spot in the NEWA Women's Division has gone to Penny Banner, who is of course a well established talent who had most recently been working Graceland Championship Wrestling which spans Delaware, the Virginias, the Carolinas, Kentucky and Tennessee. Fans will likely remember she had just recently lost a "Loser Leaves Town" match against longtime rival Judy Martin in a match that YouTube personality and part-time manager Brian Zane said "had me and certainly the fans in Louisville on the edge of their seats." Banner is set to make her debut in the March 5th show in Toronto in a web-exclusive pre-show match against Brittany Blake.
Notably absent from the initial rankings established after the Shuffle Down to Buffalo Tournament's conclusion was "Mr. Perfect" Curt Hennig, who it turns out was working with NEWA on a handshake deal for the tournament. Hennig has just this week signed a finalized contract with the federation, and has been added to the North American Title Division. This, as keen observers will notice, puts the division at thirteen participants, and Seth Coast has stated that discussions are ongoing as to whether or not to add a fourteenth spot to those ranks or keep the number as it is.
Finally, rumors have been running rampant that NEWA has been sending out feelers to Cruiserweight class wrestlers currently working in Japan to bolster that division. We will have more on that situation as it develops.

MARCH 5TH, 2019 TED REEVE COMMUNITY ARENA, TORONTO, ONTARIO, CANADA NEWA BRAWL-OUT EPISODE 10
WEB PRE-SHOW EXCLUSIVE MATCH: PENNY BANNER vs. BRITTANY BLAKE
A series of headbutts from Blake opens the match, but Banner counters an Alita Armdrag and takes control with a full nelson. Penny Banner hits a number of signature moves before clotheslining Blake out of the ring, but she takes too much time playing to the crowd allowing Brittany to pull Penny out of the ring. Blake knocks her down onto the steel steps, then knees her in the stomach. Rolling Banner back into the ring, Blake hits a satellite DDT, then goes for the pin only for Banner to kick out at 2 and 3/4s (P2/R3). Blake continues the offensive, but Banner escapes the Lotus Lock only to get her hair pulled as she tries to slam Blake's knee to the mat. Brittany tries an octopus stretch, only for Banner to power out of it, and eventually sunset flip's Blake for a 2 count (P5/R7). The two vie for control, and Blake gets it, pummeling Banner until a double knee facebreaker gets her down for a pin. Just a 2 count again, though (P3/R6). Blake keeps trying, Banner keeps struggling, until again the Lotus Lock from Blake simply does not work, and Banner's sunset flip finds the 3 count (P6/R6). WINNER: PENNY BANNER!
WEB PRE-SHOW EXCLUSIVE MATCH: "TUGBOAT" TAYLOR vs. "JUMPING" JIM BRUNZELL
These two lock up, and they go back and forth fairly evenly, with Taylor scoring a quick 2 count after a power slam (P3/R6). A big splash from ol' Tugboat gets a similar result from the ref (P4/R9). The elder Taylor from Clinton, IA doesn't let up for a second, but even the Anchor Drop won't put Brunzell away (P6/R9). Jumping Jim finally finds the opening he needed after still more powerful moves from Tugboat, rolling out of an arm wringer and connecting with a flying arm scissors. Brunzell sends Taylor into the turnbuckles, but the still reasonably fresh Taylor meets Brunzell's clothesline with one of his own! Brunzell manages to pull himself up with the ropes, but Taylor catches his forearm uppercut and regains control. Another big splash is enough to put Brunzell away (P6/R4). WINNER: "TUGBOAT" TAYLOR!
SHOW OPENING
LK: Hello, and good evening from Toronto, Canada! I'm Linwood Knight, this is "The Mauler" Maryellen Huss, and we have a jam packed episode of Brawl Out for you!
MH: Absolutely, we have three, count them, three ranked matches for our World Title division, so many we have to open with one! So we're opening the show hot with Ted DiBiase versus Matt Riddle!
LK: These two are no strangers to each other, and you can bet Riddle has a lot to prove after their previous encounter. And speaking of people with things to prove, that match is followed by Rob Van Dam versus Bruiser Brody!
MH: Neither man has had a lot of luck in NEWA lately, or at all for that matter, so this match could well be make or break for at least RVD.
LK: We're also excited tonight to have Matt and Nick Jackson, the Young Bucks who are fresh off a tour of Japan and are joining us in the NEWA ring for the first time, and they'll be battling the Metalheads, Cesar Sleaze and Dizzy Lixx!
MH: The Superkick Party is invading the North East, and we have a ton of devoted Young Bucks fans here in Toronto! I think half of the front row are wearing their shirts tonight!
LK: We have still more debuts tonight, folks, as Jay Lethal joins our Cruiserweight division and he's taking on the Hyena of Memphis tonight, Brian Christopher!
MH: Christopher is running hot off of a victory in the tag ranks last week, but Jay Lethal is a decorated champion in several federations across the territories here in the States, so we'll see who can take the momentum here.
LK: After that match, "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan is back in action against Nikolai Volkoff in both men's first North American division match.
MH: A classic rivalry if there ever was one. A US patriot as dyed in the wool as Duggan has not liked Russian interference in our election process, and no doubt would love a symbolic victory over Volkoff tonight, even if it takes place here in Canada!
LK: The hits will keep on coming after that, as we have a women's tag team match featuring Jazz and Tomoka Nakagura battling Madison Rayne and Jessicka Havok, a battle of odd couples if there ever was one!
MH: It's a massive clash of styles to be sure, but that just shows how diverse our Womens division is becoming.
LK: And we have a massive double main event this week, the first one will see two multi-time world champions go toe to toe in Randy Savage versus Harley Race!
MH: Race is probably still frustrated at his loss in Buffalo to Adrian Street, and he's eager to climb the ranks of the World Title division. He couldn't ask for a tougher opponent to do it against, though, and one with his own history against Street, too!
LK: And in a special match arranged with our friends at Finger Lakes Wrestling Federation, it's our World Champion, "Exotic" Adrian Street battling FLWF's own Nick Bockwinkle!
MH: Nick has been on a winning streak in FLWF and he's set to take on their champion, Magnum TA, in a few weeks, and this might be his toughest challenge on his latest path for top tier gold.
LK: Before we begin, though, we have an update on "Nature Boy" Buddy Rogers. After his match with Road Warrior Animal last week he's being put on doctor's rest for at least a month's time. We're not certain when he will return to NEWA, but we do hope it will be soon, and only when he's at 100%. Right now let's turn it over to Mike Cusey!
SINGLES MATCH: "MILLION DOLLAR MAN" TED DIBIASE vs. "KING OF BROS" MATT RIDDLE
In this quasi-rematch, DiBiase tries to take control just like before, but Riddle slips out of a headlock and throws DiBiase to the ropes . A successful shoulder tackle by the King of Bros is followed by one from the Million Dollar Man, and DiBiase's offense thereafter culminates in a second rope axe handle. The pin following that just gets a 2 count (P2/R6). Riddle is able to elbow his way out of the Million Dollar Dream (P5/R6), but DiBiase keeps control of the match for a solid three minutes until finally escapes the prone position in the turnbuckles and smashes Ted's head into them! Riddle gives it everything he has, including rolling gutbuster suplexes and the Brostroyer, but DiBiase ducks a Pele Kick and rakes Riddle in the eye. Neither man can quite maintain the advantage, until Riddle rolls DiBiase into a pinning combination after the latter comes off the ropes, but Matt just gets a 2 count (P2/R7). DiBiase avoids a knee strike a moment later, and resumes control for a good while with a vertical suplex and a backbreaker.
Sending Riddle out of the ring, DiBiase tries for a jumping axe handle, but Riddle catches him and improvises a power bomb instead! Riddle rolls DiBiase back in, but can't keep the control for long, though neither can DiBiase. Riddle finally sends the Million Dollar Man flying out, and takes a moment to catch his breath and nurse his back a bit, which gives DiBiase the chance to pull on his legs and the two begin to brawl aggressively (no DQs rolled), with Riddle just barely getting his for (and himself) in as the ref counts to 9. Riddle locks in Bromission, but DiBiase reaches the ropes (P4/9). Riddle sends DiBiase to the ropes, which gives him enough momentum to counter a back body drop with a reverse bulldog! Another second rope axe handle leads to another 2 count (P4/R10), and DiBiase sends Riddle out of the ring again, only for Riddle to escape a neckbreaker and mashes DiBiase's head into a monitor on the announce table (DQ4/R8)! Riddle gets his foe back in the ring only for DiBiase to kick his way out of an exploder suplex. He sends Riddle to the turnbuckle, but Riddle dodges and pins DiBiase for another 2 (P4/R7).
The Bromission still doesn't keep DiBiase out of the match, either (P6/R9), and the Million Dollar Man stubbornly fights back more, but Riddle's determination to prove their last encounter was a quick fluke wins out, as a third Brostroyer finally gets the 3 count (P6/R6). WINNER: MATT RIDDLE!
LK: If Matt Riddle ever wanted to show the kind of spirit he has, he just did that right here!
MH: It's going to take more wins to reach Street and his title, short of a direct challenge, but everyone has to start somewhere and this is one hell of a start!
LK: Folks, Alicia Coast is standing by with one of our next match's participants!
BACKSTAGE INTERVIEW:
ALICIA COAST: I'm here with Bruiser Brody, and-
BRUISER BRODY: SHUT UP! I'll do the talking! This flea market federation is lucky I'm even sticking around with the way they've been booking me! I'm tired of tag team matches with that beached whale Bundy that only see me spinning my wheels! It's about time I got a ranked match for the World Title Division, and Rob Van Dam, you're the unlucky first victim! I'm hungry for a victory, and you're just a light snack! Once I'm done with you, this losing streak you're on will be nothing compared to the length of your hospital stay! Huss! Huss! Huss! *leaves*
AC: Folks, that match is next!
(Part 2 of 3 hopefully goes up tomorrow!)

SINGLES MATCH: ROB VAN DAM vs. BRUISER BRODY
Brody sends RVD to the ropes right at the bell, but gets DDT'd and quickly hit by the Rolling Thunder within a mere moment! It's all RVD from here, but it's too soon for even the Five Star Frog Splash to put down the tough man from Albuquerque (P4/R10). After some more strikes and leg drops, Brody eventually catches RVD's leg when the latter tries a leg sweep, and one-handed body slam's Van Dam to the mat. Neither man can hold the advantage for long after that, with RVD eventually getting enough purchase from a split-legged moonsault to get another pin attempt, and another 2 count (P3/R6). RVD leaps up the turnbuckles, hits a second Five Star Frog Splash, and Brody's down for the count (P6/R3)! WINNER: ROB VAN DAM!
LK: The streak is broken! RVD with a massive win against one of the toughest men this business has ever seen!
MH: You have to believe Brody won't be complaining much more about his bookings here, either! And hold the phone, here comes Candido and Corino, attacking RVD from behind!
LK: Even in victory, RVD can't get these two off his back! And now Brody's getting back up and- WAIT A MINUTE! Brody just waylayed Candido! And now Corino goes down! And RVD goes down for good measure! Bruiser Brody doesn't care who it is, he's just mad!
MH: And an angry Brody is bad news for the NEWA locker room!
TAG TEAM MATCH: THE METALHEADS (CESAR SLEAZE & DIZZY LIXX) vs. THE YOUNG BUCKS (NICK JACKSON & MATT JACKSON)
The Bucks come to ringside wearing totally new NEWA-themed t-shirts, adding yet another design to the dozens they've had over the years. Once the bell ring, Nick Jackson and Cesar Sleaze start things off, slowly feeling each other's ring abilities out, escaping each other's initial offensive maneuvers until a flying spin kick from Nick floors the Dee Snyder lookalike. Nick knees Sleaze in the corner until the Metal Head gets his boot planted in Nick's family jewels. Sleaze continues to work over Nick with dirty tactics until Nick gets even with an eye gouge to break out of an illegal choke, and he tags in Matt, who lays in the chops. Sleaze headbutts Matt before he can land an X-Factor, and tags in Dizzy Lixx. Lixx's attempt at a low blow was way too telegraphed, though, and Matt plants him with the X-Factor. A series of buckle bombs follows, but Lixx escapes a fourth and connects with the Glam Slam. Lixx focuses on Matt's eyes, aiming fingers and spit in an attempt to leave him vulnerable, but Matt instinctively avoids a knee drop after that. Lixx rolls out of the ring, and Matt lands a suicide plancha! Matt rolls his foe back in the ring, tags in Nick, and they hit Early Onset Alzheimer's!
Nick cuts off Lixx from tagging in Sleaze (TAG6/R12), but he gets it after scrambling out of the ring and back in after being hit by a combination buckle bomb into a double knees (TAG6/R6). All it does for Sleaze, though, is making him eat the same move. Nick keeps it up for a minute and a half longer before tagging Matt back in, but Sleaze recovers quickly enough to bring the dirty tricks back out, and he and Lixx execute Bang Your Head on the Young Buck. Matt can't escape to tag out (TAG6/R12), and Sleaze hits Twisted Mister for the first pin attempt of the match, only getting 2 (P5/R7). Lixx is tagged in, still keeping Matt isolated (TAG6/R8). The former Bullet Club member is able to slowly inch to his corner, so he can reach to Nick while Lixx is chomping down on his nose (TAG6/R5). Nick comes in like a house on fire, making Lixx regret getting out of bed in the morning! The Bucks land More Bang For Your Buck, but Cesar Sleaze distracts the ref! Lixx tries to fight more, but a springboard spike tombstone definitively puts him away (P6/R5)! WINNERS: THE YOUNG BUCKS!
LK: The Road Warriors were almost certainly keeping a close eye on that one. Not only was it an impressive debut for the Bucks, but the Metalheads aren't giving an inch anytime soon to anyone.
SINGLES MATCH: BRIAN CHRISTOPHER vs. JAY LETHAL
The bell has barely rung before Christopher lands a stiff hip toss on Lethal. He stays on top of his foe with a bulldog, but Lethal slips out of a powerslam attempt and sweeps the Hyena's legs out from under him. Jay hits a leg lariat when Christopher gets back up, then connects with a dragon suplex for a 2 count (P3/R4). The Lethal Combination also gets a 2 count (P4/R9), but a springboard DDT is, in fact, enough (P5/R5). WINNER: JAY LETHAL!
LK: Now THAT is how you make a statement in this business! Jay Lethal was not going to let anything stop him tonight!
MH: What a setback for the *ahem* alleged son of the King of Memphis. I bet he wishes he didn't tell Rock Riddle to stay backstage!
LK: Fans, right now we have a special announcement to make. Neither Maryellen nor I haven't even been told what this is, so you're going to find out the same time the rest of us are. Let's take it to the production truck.
"He's battled the best of Japan..."
*footage of a masked figure in an elaborate bodysuit executing a rolling koppo kick on Koji Kanemoto*
"They came from around the world to challenge him..."
*Black Tiger, aka Eddie Guerrero, takes a Shooting Star Press from the same masked figure*
"And few have overcame him."
*Ultimo Dragon takes a Fisherman's Buster from the same masked figure*
"Now, the Thunder rolls into North America! Jushin Liger is coming to North East Wrestling Alliance... NEXT WEEK!"

SINGLES MATCH: "HACKSAW" JIM DUGGAN vs. NIKOLAI VOLKOFF
Before the match, Duggan is about to start the "USA!" chant, but gets to S and remembers he's in Toronto with a laugh. It's enough of a moment for Volkoff to brace himself for Duggan's attempt at a shoulder block, and the Russian Bear latches on a Russian Bear Hug before slamming Duggan to the canvas. Nikolai smacks ol' Hacksaw with a double thrust, then throws him out of the ring and stops to gloat and showboat for the crowd, turning his back as Duggan gets to his feet. Duggan's back on the apron by the time Volkoff turns back around, and he grabs the husky Ruskie's head and leaps back down to the arena floor, letting Volkoff's throat meet the top rope!
Returning to the ring, Duggan gets onto the second turnbuckle and sends Volkoff staggering with a flying clothesline. Hacksaw goes for a bear hug of his own, but Volkoff rakes Duggan's eye. Nikolai makes some space for a big boot, but Duggan ducks and manages a spinning body slam! From there Duggan is a whirlwind of punches in the corner and the center of the ring, and finally a Tough Guy clothesline brings Volkoff off his feet! Lifting his foe up, Duggan tosses him to the turnbuckle and goes in for a charge, but Nikolai still has enough ring presence to get the knee up in time to stop it! Volkoff locks on a second Bear Hug, and this one lasts long enough for the ref to start asking about submission, but Duggan won't quit! (P3/R4) Volkoff climbs to the top rope, and nails a glorious flying tackle! He hooks the leg, the ref counts 1... 2... 3!!! (P4/R3) WINNER: NIKOLAI VOLKOFF!
MH: No shame to Duggan here, Volkoff won that mostly fair and square. The only thing I can complain about is that thumb to Hacksaw's eye.
LK: Indeed, and I have to imagine Volkoff has in the back of his mind claiming the North American championship at some point from Pampero Firpo. In the meantime, Alicia Coast is backstage with Precious Paul!
BACKSTAGE INTERVIEW
ALICIA COAST: Paul Ellering, you've asked for this interview time to address the tag team title situation, but I'm honestly not sure what there is to address. Your team hold the belts and hasn't been part of a disqualification finish to a match or anything else odd like that.
PAUL ELLERING: The matter to address, Miss Coast, is that a champion's stock is determined by the quality of their opponents and the frequency of title defenses, and I know a thing or two about keeping stock valuable. Now I appreciate NEWA instituting a formal ranking system as much as any fan does, but it may take a few months before a proper #1 contender is established, and Hawk and Animal are known for getting restless if they don't feel challenged. When they claim they snack on danger and dine on death, they mean it, and there's no sense in starving them for long. So today I took a look at the competition, and from a strictly objective standpoint once you take the Road Warriors out of the equation, Tugboat and Chaz Taylor have been the most impressive team on this roster. So I'm opening the court to you, gentlemen. Next week in Hamilton, if you want a shot at the tag titles, we will be in attendance, and the contract is in Commissioner Toner's hands any time you want to sign it.
TAG TEAM MATCH: MADISON RAYNE & JESSICKA HAVOC vs. JAZZ & TOMOKA NAKAGURA
Jazz and Tomoka quickly rock-paper-scissors, and Jazz's paper wins over Tomoka's rock, so Jazz will start the match, while Jessicka Havok just points at Jazz and says "she's mine." Havok hits with a knee lift to start, bringing her size to bear early on, then she launches Jazz into the ropes looking for a clothesline, only for Jazz to try one of her own! Havok is dazed, but Jazz is down, and Jessicka launches her foe out of the ring with a second clothesline, and follows up trying to whip Jazz into the announce table, but Jazz counters and sends Havok there instead! The ref allows this, and Jazz rolls Jessicka back into the ring and hits a massive DDT!
Needing to catch her breath, Jazz tags in the Women's Champion, and Tomoka brings Havok down to the mat with a headscissors takedown. Havok sits up only to be smacked with a basement dropkick! Tomoka goes for the pin, but Havok kicks out as Madison and Jazz both try to run interference, and the match breaks down! (P3/R11) As the referee tries to get some order, Nakagawa connects with a bridging fisherman's suplex, but it's still too early (P4/R11). But Tomoka transitions into the CRB, and Rayne is still tangling with Jazz on the outside as Havok submits! (P6/R6) WINNERS: JAZZ & TOMOKA NAKAGURA!
LK: The look on Madison Rayne's face right now will be the stuff of internet memes for a long time to come! She can't believe it all fell apart so fast, especially with the powerful Jessicka Havok in her corner!
MH: Jazz is living for this! She's getting back in the ring and raising the champ's hand!
JAZZ: That's why she's the champ! No fear in this woman at all!
(Final two matches of the show will go up hopefully soon!)
