This was from All Japan under a Best 2 out of 3 Falls format. Dory Funk Jr. is seen in his prime. Dory trained JT at a formative stage...breaking him in at his promotion in Amarillo. From the start there were very high expectations placed on the young Olympian who had impressive 'star quality' size and was credentialed as a national champion in both Greco Roman and Freestyle Wrestling. An instant favorite of Giant Baba he was 'handed the ball' very early. Here he is seen with less than two years of pro experience working a main event with a recent NWA World Champion. Can a green Tsuruta hang credibly with one of the best of the decade...or will the young man fail to live up to the hype?
