This was from AJW at the annual Grand Prix. Akira Hokuto was a very well rounded performer who mixed excellent mat work and submissions with great intensity. Manami Toyota reminds me a bit of Shawn Michaels in that she had the star quality intangibles of charisma & cosmetic appeal, yet combined that with standout athleticism and a very strong work ethic. Few could exceed her pacing or connect as sympathetically with the crowd. This makes for a nice look at one of the great rivalries of the era!

DK was an absolute wrecking machine in the mold of Aja Kong while Ozaki excelled in a tag role. Champions Toyota & Yamada represented AJW. A unique environment as fan loyalty was split between the two brands. This was the first ever women's match to win the Wrestling Observer MOTY and stands as a legit Joshi Classic!
