Tomorrow, the new ballpark (Las Vegas Ballpark) for our local AAA Las Vegas Aviators (owned by the Howard Hughes Corp) opens up- and it is on my street Sahara! I drive by it every day on my way to work and I can't wait to check it out (I have a ticket to Thursday's game.)
We used to be the AAA/top affiliate of the Mets but now we are associated as AAA with the As.
Some of the perks of the new ballpark:
largest screen in Minor League Baseball
free parking (but I can practically walk there- or I might take a Lyft as I might have a few $2 Aviator Ales)
mesh seats to keep off the heat
a pool
reportedly very impressive food options for Minor League Baseball: gourmet Flyaway Dogs prepared from recipes by chefs on The Strip, Me Gusta Tacos, Build Your Own Mac and Cheese, etc)
My first game at the new ballpark is Thursday night but I will be going to a number of games this Spring and Summer as it the new ballpark is literally on my street and Minor League Baseball offers a great value for a really low price.
I am so glad Las Vegas finally got a decent ballpark for their AAA team, their last stadium was a dump and the worst AAA stadium of the 5 or 6 I have been to. But our new logos are horrible IMO.

Sounds great. Hope you have a good time. I know part of the fun for me to go to games is the food. Sounds like they have that covered. I'm just waiting till higher level teams catch on to the model the Atlanta Falcons used for their new stadium with some reasonable priced options. I live close to Detroit Tigers level A team stadium. They have $1 hot dogs on Mondays and Wednesdays are all you can eat hot dogs, hamburgers, pizzas and a few other items for like 3 hours. Tickets are $10 in advance for seat and the food. Sadly I work most Wednesdays lol.

They recently closed the minor league stadium that was close to where I live to build a concert venue. I miss having the option of a close by minor league team, it is a great option for the family.

Long story, but unfortunately I was not able to make it to the game last week. Instead I have a ticket to tomorrow night's game, I am really looking forward to checking out the new ballpark!

I wish we still had your Mets as our AAA affiliation, it was cool to see players such as Jacob deGrom, Noah Syndergaard, Zack Wheeler, Steven Matz, Michael Conforto, and Amed Rosario first play here for Las Vegas while managed by Wally Backman before they got called up to the Mets. If they were still here this year then Tim Tebow would have been playing in Las Vegas Hopefully the As affiliate does well for Las Vegas. Unfortunatey though Oakland is losing last year's first round pick Kyler Murray to the NFL where I think he will be taken as the #1 pick by the Cardinals (local rumor has it that to try to entice Murray to stay with baseball the As were offering to start him in AAA- which would have been here in Las Vegas- to offer him a chance for an accelerated path to the majors.)

I just got back from the game tonight. Las Vegas Aviators won 7-6 over Fresno. Seth Brown had a huge game with 3 home runs and 6 RBIs. this was my first time at the newly opened Las Vegas Ballpark and it is incredible! It replaces Sacramento as the top AAA ballpark that I have been to. And the best part is it is so close to where I live- I literally left home tonight after 6:45 PM and still made the start of the game at 7:00 PM (my Lyft rode home was 3-4 minutes only.) I will be attending more games here for sure this Summer. Of the small number of AAA ballparks I have attended, here is how I rank them from best to worst: 1. Las Vegas Ballpark (current ballpark for Las Vegas) 2. Sacramento 3. Fresno 4. Albuquerque 5. Tacoma 6. Las Vegas (Cashman Field- former ballpark for Las Vegas) The food was awesome (I had Me Gusta Tacos- really good but those portions are so small it was not much of a dinner so I also got one of the specialty Flyaway Dogs too.) I just don't like the Aviators logo (tonight I bought a Las Vegas Aviators shirt from the team store but one without the team logo on it) and I am not a fan of the new mascot Spruce the Goose- he looks like a cross between Donald Duck on drugs and the Joker. I liked the alien Cosmos better back when we were still the 51s last year.

Spruce the Goose is a cool name at least. Glad you had a good time.

In their first season in their new ballpark (rated the best in all of AAA by Baseball Digest,) the Las Vegas Aviators clinched the playoffs this past weekend when they beat Tacoma and when El Paso lost to Sacramento. Las Vegas later this week begins a 5 game playoff series against Sacramento with the winner of that series playing the winner of the Iowa/Round Rock series for the PCL Championship (Las Vegas is going for its 3rd PCL Championship and first since the 1980s.) In addition to making the playoff in their first season in their new ballpark, the Aviators led all of Minor League Baseball in BOTH total attendance and in average attendance at 9,299 fans/game (I think that is also an even higher average than the Miami Marlins.) The first 2 games are in Sacramento with Games 3, 4, and 5 (if necessary for 4 and 5) in Las Vegas from Friday through Sunday. I can't go on Friday because I have a ticket to IMPACT at Sam's Town but I might try to go to Game 4 and/or Game 5 (if the series goes that long.) If we defeat Sacramento though we will have to do it without Seth Brown, he just got called up by the Oakland As who are in a Wild Card playoff race at the moment. Edit: On Friday/Game 3 I am going to IMPACT at Sam's Town and on Saturday/Game 4 (if necessary) I think I have a ticket to see It: Chapter 2. But I just bought a ticket to Game 5 on Sunday night if the series goes that long (if not I get an automatic refund) as the game does not start until 6 PM after football.
