Glad I'm not alone in feels of the preshow. Never watched the main show, but reviews rave about the non sanctioned match & all the high spots. And about the wicked chair shot on Cody. Wasn't really highlights for me, but I get why some liked it.
On a side note, I didn't realize Jungle Boy was Luke Perry's kid?! Who'd have thunk it? 🤔😂😮

I'm hoping they can start giving more storyline to things. A lot of the matches right now are just feeling like random matches with no real meaning behind them. I think this sort of thing is fine on the weekly shows and can ultimately be used to create future storylines but on big events like this... feels weird.
Also, these guys have GOT to stop talking to the dirtsheet press. Cody got busted open at the end of his match after a chairshot by Shawn Spears. Immediately after the event I'm reading interviews the Young Bucks did talking about how Cody and Shawn had "gimmicked" the chair so that this shouldn't have happened. Let the fans enjoy the moment for a few hours (at the very least) before you ruin it!

I skipped the preshow and kinda glad I did from the sound of it...although I am a leva fan.
The 6 man was fun (Street Fighter gimmick was totally fitting) and liked the personalities in the 4-way. MJF is fantastic. The non-sancitioned match was cool, but why not just call it a street fight? The non-sanctioned gimmick is something that should be built up and not on the first regular show featuring a debut. A bit baffling. I think the match of the night was Cody vs. Darby Allin. Allin really showed off the crazy shit he can do and the beatings he can take.
I regularly watch BTE and Road to shows, so I have plenty of context, but surprised they dont do more for the many others interested in watching that dont see the internet shows. I'm sure that will change in the fall.

YES!!! MJF's in-ring promo was one of the best moments of the show for me. I think any wrestling fan would have enjoyed that promo, regardless of whether they considered themselves an AEW fan.

I've enjoyed him on other programs too. That kid knows how to work a room! Golden on the mic. What blows my mind is how young he is, and he gets it!

Leva wasn’t the problem, it was presented poorly and the angle itself might have one too many librarians. That & the Jebailey match isn’t gonna show new people an alternative to WWEs goofyness. Darby Allin is dope. One of my favorite signings they made.

On Saturday I watched the first 1 1/2 hours of EVOLVE 129, it started at 3 local time, and then turned on AEW on my labtop but I was having trouble getting into the preshow so I kept watching EVOLVE 129 on my phone while also watching the preshow (which I put on mute) on my labtop and once EVOLVE 129 ended I then fully switched over to AEW (great show overall, I really liked the 6 man tag- I have missed the last few Being The Elite episodes and was thus really thrilled to see Laredo Kid.)

damn, Jim Cornette really went off on the Young Bucks today Cornette has always been harder on young talent, but he will give credit where it's due. He gave MJF alot of credit today!? He's had some history with the Bucks, ripping them before, nothing new there.
