Now see, the only thing I found interesting about last night's show was the Dark Order's creep mob flooding the ring. Notice I didn't say it was good. Just an interesting visual. But I think - where does this go? Is every face in the company going to go to war with a bunch of nameless masked guys? This isn't a Marvel movie. It doesn't lend to the wrestling format as far as in ring competition goes. And this once again left me feeling that for a company that supposedly wants to separate themselves from WWE's goofy crap, they sure are doing a lot of it themselves.
The rest of the show I only half paid attention to. Much like during my last days of watching RAW. It was just on in the background and I checked in when it sounded like something might be happening.
I did watch the entire Jericho match which was fine if not predictable. I took exception to Jungle Boy withstanding the Walls of Jericho for 30+ seconds when more legit guys tap out right away. Creates a dissonance of credibility.

Someone said it before but I feel like the biggest thing a new fan has with AEW is/was there was no introduction to characters they kind of just expected you to know things. I like their womens division but having watched one PPV and Dynamite I dont think I have seen their womens champion. She should be prominently featured, I like Britt Baker because I feel I've seen a lot of her and get her story. Statlander looks cool and might get me to buy the women of the indies set but I dont really know her beyond that.

Creates a dissonance of credibility. Most guys tap out immediately when Jericho uses the Liontamer, the high angle variation from WCW and his early WWF run. He didn't use that last night and the argument could be made that Jungle Boy knew all he had to do was survive a minute and it proves the point that he could go 10 minutes against the champion. Kinda like DiBiase staying in the reversed figure four against Orndorff. You prove your toughness by not giving up when the clock is about to run out. If you watched the last PPV, you saw the women's champion but yeah they've done a bafflingly small amount with her since she won the title. Should have just put the belt on Nyla Rose or Awesome Kong.

it's mind-boggling what they've been doing with Kenny Omega. He's being booked like people expected the WWE to have booked him.

I seem to have liked this week better than you guys. They did a nice job making Jungle Boy lasting against Jericho feel important. If they do it right, and not just feed him to Jericho in a re-match, that could help. My random thoughts: I definitely don't like Kenny Omega... I'm hoping Page turns heel and obliterates him. I'm not sure that's what they're going for, though. I thought the opener was really good, actually.. very entertaining match.. they pulled off plenty of spots without it feeling like a spotfest. I'm not sure I get the 'alien' thing with Kris Statlander, and she had terrible chemistry with Baker... those two shouldn't have a match again any time soon. I agree the Nightmare Collective thing is super weird... I keep thinking they're are going be part of the Dark Order at some point The Butcher and the blade are a complete waste.. they need some sort of personality. I think the cult thing could work as an angle, as long as they don't mess it up and have some star join. It has been a bit much on the push, but it's not terrible. Stretching out the Moxley thing with Jericho seemed a bad choice, as does having him off the show when he's hot right now. The actual main event match was also good, I was presently surprised to see a clean win by SCU. I'm guessing at this point the Dark Order takes the title at Revolution and the Bucks play the hero after that... with a resolution with the Lucha Bros in between. I actually thing all the titles will change hands by then... Riho is definitely losing.... not sure Jericho's character works without being the champ, but we'll see. If they're ever going to give Moxley a run, now is the time, and that could lead into a good feud with Pac. Not sure what they were doing there with Daniels... did he just run from a fight? No explanation at all?

Daniels turns on SCU and takes over as leader of Dark Order, causing a title change. Fallen Angel persona would be a fit and something different w/ Him. He’d generate some heat for sure if he turned on the other guys. Not sure he’s the leader they need to make it a top tier faction, but he’s a known commodity at least.

Saw episode 12 best thing for me was Kris Statlander v Brit Baker match . Jericho v Jungle Boy 10 minutes was quite good . Best not mention the Dark Order assault at the end and fake punches

It’s bound to be a Botchmania HOF highlight. In case no one has ever seen the show, it’s dedicated to wrestling screw-ups and is in business mainly off of hundreds of hours of WWE botches. It should fit in nicely. Not overshadowed in its (lack of) quality, but possibly by WWE’s quantity.

Hilariously Arik Cannon took responsibility as the creeper. (Anyone who knows Arik Cannon knows he is totally not the right body type) and Dustin took his confession with no vetting?!?

Loving this first segment. Darby is the new Jeff Hardy (minus the drugs & a few pounds). Really like this kid. Seeing Arn and Cody come out makes me think of how thankful for Rob & Will I am. Cody is so good and a nice change of pace in AEW. Also, Arn is the Man! Nice commercial placement as well, as it was during more of a rest spot and not during a promo. I missed AEW. Nice show to start the year.
