I'm glad it's not a title match (it was definitely implied that it was)... that way they could actually book it reasonably... have Mox cost Jericho the match, maybe, or just a pull apart after.
I would have preferred to see Pac get a title shot if Jericho had to have one more match.. that could emphasize that records matter, and since it's clear they don't plan on pushing him, it wouldn't blow any future angles.

AEW is getting more like WWE with each passing week. Last night's episode was one of the weakest yet. It started off with Jericho and Moxley but quickly circled the bowl after that. Just a lot of dumb, uninteresting stuff.
That women's match was miserable. And unbearably long. I can't stand Sakura. Brandi once again acknowledging her detractors. This can't help her case any more than her lack of talent does. Come to think of it, others have been acknowledging criticisms as well. Cody and JR for example. And they do it in a way lends credence to what the critics are saying. Like they know what they are doing doesn't make sense or isn't very good. It's a strange approach.
Aaaand the weekly 'lights out' spot. STOP IT! Who's booking this crap? Actually, we know who's responsible. Despite the amount of action the main event had, I was bored. Spot, spot, spot, spot, spot, spot. Boring.

I don't know about more like WWE (though I suppose I haven't watched for a while), but definitely not a great show. The Brandi stuff has gone on far too long with no pay off, as have the Dark Order skits... plus, they're like they same thing. Do something with it!
I really liked Sammy Guevarra in that first week, but he sucks as a heel, he'd be alot better in the role they're putting Darby Allin in, IMO, and he's a bit more believable (just enough bigger than him).
Agreed the women's match was boring.. Sakura does nothing for me either. Why bring in ANOTHER new face, when you just put Kris Statlander over? Riho and Britt Baker have been missing for, what a month? Not a great way to build momentum.
MJF was pretty decent in his promo, but the Cody match was poor booking. You 'punish' him by giving him a crappy partner, but then the bad guys just beat down the partner? What does Cody care about that?
I liked the main event... spot fest, yes, but that's what wrestling is today. I do have to say I HATE that assisted tombstone the Bucks do.. it looks so bad, IMO! And where the heck were all the tables coming from?
They've so far completely failed to make me care about Joey Janela and Shawn Spears... send them to Dark and lets see what else you got in the mid-card. Sabian has potential, though, and his valet was the highlight of the night.. why is she not wrestling? We have to watch Sakura instead?
Despite not caring about Spears, that was still my favorite match of the night. Omega and Page... I am curious what they're doing with Page... a wouldn't mind a heel turn for him, but is there room for a heel that's not on Jericho's team? Not sure right now. I've decided I just don't like Kenny that much. Not sure why, though.
While this show was pretty meh, I am looking forward to SCU-Bucks and Jericho-Jungle Boy (just to see how they book it).

I think Jungle Boy winds up going the 10:00 with Jericho to set up a title match on the New Year's show. A lot of their booking in situations like this so far has been pretty easy to figure out for better or worse (like it becoming painfully clear from the jump that the Bucks and Kenny were going to lose a bunch of matches just to prove they're "not like every other wrestler in management"), but I don't get the Emi Sakura hate. She's a good worker.
The last three episodes have been...not good. The last match on Dynamite that I thought was great was the Moxley/Darby match, which was fantastic and I wish I could have made the 2 hour drive to Indy for that one.

I wanted so very badly to get behind AEW and be a fan and have something new to watch but I think in the last handful of weeks that I realized that AEW just isn't for me. That said? There have been some high points. But, IMHO, too many low points.
I love most of what Cody's been booking himself in. It's like it came straight out of his old man's playbook. Therefore, I love it. Mostly.
I don't get the Dark Order, or have any idea as to why I should bother trying to figure them out. A cult that is recruiting people to be part of it while they seem to basically be jobbers. Again, why should I care?
I also don't get how Brandi, the wife of the biggest babyface in the company, is acting like a heel and using the same recruiting tactics as the Dark Order. Maybe the folks behind creative could compare notes sometime to avoid that kind of thing? It seems like a case of the left hand having no idea what the right hand is doing. The fractured creative just leaves me feeling flat. I guess the idea of the crew each covering a different division would have been a good idea, in theory. In practice, I think they're bungling it and it makes me think that having one solitary voice steering the ship wouldn't be a bad thing. The ship seems rudderless, I guess.
I also really don't know what is going on with the women's division. And that makes me sad.
Otherwise, I have a lot of the usual complaints: I don't know who a lot of the talents are and they don't seem to be making any REAL effort to enlighten me. I don't have the time to watch all the Youtube stuff to find out but it feels like I'm being punished for that lack of knowledge. Also, with all the new faces popping up, with no build-up or backstory, is making my head hurt.
Other than the fact that I've decided recently that I really don't care for Kenny Omega the main thing I guess I've noticed is that they seem less and less like an alternative to WWE and more like... I don't know. But it's not good.
Oh, yeah. One last thing: The Lexicon of Le Champion. I hate it. The folks at AEW are so creative and innovative that they decide to do a really lame rip-off of the same shtick that Jericho did in WWE. Incidentally, I didn't care for "The List" when done in WWE, either.
But, yeah.
I think I'm done with AEW and that makes me sad.

I suspect they have multiple people booking and it's causing the chaos that the fed is at this point.

I suspect they have multiple people booking and it's causing the chaos that the fed is at this point. Yeah, Kenny books the women's stuff (so for the two guys in this thread who hate the Japanese girls, there you go) and the Bucks book the tag team stuff. Really if they just let Cody and Dustin book everything they'd be far better off because those two get it.

The finish to last night's show was horrendous. I get that the Bucks like the Dark Order but they're not working out and shoving them further down fans' throats is a very WWE move for a company who doesn't want their booking to resemble WWE's.

I read an interview w Shad Khan where he says if AEW fails it’s no big deal. Like he can already see the writing on the wall.
Also, remember when Kenny Omega was the hottest act in wrestling two years ago now he’s an afterthought/jobber in AEW?
And what’s with Tony Khan doing getting in the ring giving wrestlers stunners? Future AEW champ?
I thought NXT was pretty good even tho I can’t stand Balor. Glad he lost. Lastly, Damian Priest reminds me a bit of HelSin. Kind of cool.

Also, remember when Kenny Omega was the hottest act in wrestling two years ago now he’s an afterthought/jobber in AEW? Omega's logic is that he can "always get himself over later" and I think that shows you where the mindset of everyone not named Cody involved in creative is. This is just them bleeding a money mark and hoping everything works out long term. Only one of them understands what being a STAR actually is and it's the son of Dusty Rhodes. What a shock. It's a shame the TV shows since Indianapolis have been so bad because everything to that point was very enjoyable, at least for me. It's like the company gave us the Darby/Moxley banger and just went "yep we peaked time to tank the whole goddamn thing".
