I think AEW has a long way to go to match WWE’s roster and star power, but I do like the unpredictability that they can grab anyone they want off of the indies at any time (like Nick Gage) and throw them into the ring with one of their top guys. In WWE he would most likely go to NXT, get a name change and not face anyone on the importance level of a Jericho for years. The downside obviously being like all things AEW - you have to be 100% plugged into the indy scene to understand him and this story. Casual fan is per usual completely left in the dark on who he is or why this matters. AEW has the luxury of wowing their core audience while WWE takes things way too slow “developing” TV actors. Both companies are operating quite differently and could benefit from more balance. That's a really good point. I don't know if I've seen more than a couple Nick Gage matches but I at least somewhat understand why he's an interesting choice for this trials of Jericho thing. A super violent dude with a criminal record is not the type of guy you want to get into a fight with. Sort of like if you brought New Jack out 10-15 years ago. BUT there's a good chance that a lot of the people watching had no clue who he was. Might have been a good idea to have a short 20 second montage of him in some deathmatches, maybe his mugshot or something so the less-than-hardcore fan gets a quick snapshot of why they should care about this.

I don't think I'll make it out of 2021 as a wrestling fan. Lol Speaking of Gage how is everyone ok with this guy yelling MDK? Tony Khan banned Hogan for life then signed Nick Gage. Like I said, I kind of enjoy the unpredictable nature of Tony Khan good and bad. MDK is his murder death kill "gang" right? Hogan was/is racist or am I missing something about mdk. If I am excuse my stupidity

I know who Gage is but I don’t know much about him other than he robbed a bank and he’s been feuding with Zach Ryder.

Pro Wrestling has a long history of criminals, pedophiles, addicts, murderers, and miscreants. Nick Gage is in the right field. If we can give Jeff Hardy, Booker T, Roman Reigns, the drunk USO, New Jack, Jimmy Snuka & a ton of others another chance, Mr.Gage can get one too. MDK is a catchphrase. Like “Suck It”. Or “U Can’t see Me”.

I really don't understand all of the hate being thrown at Gage. I mean, I personally don't think he is a very good wrestler, and I'm not into death match stuff at all, but all of these people attacking him for his past is ridiculous.
He did the crime, he admitted to it, and he paid his debt to society. From all accounts he has turned his life around, and now is in a good place personally and professionally. That's awesome, that is exactly what the system was built to do! Whether you like his style or not, you can't hate on the guy for doing things the right way.

Honest question; if that was your mom, wife, sister or daughter that was working at the bank that he threatened, would you feel the same way?

I don’t hate Nick Gage and never said he shouldn’t have a job. Just for the record.

Honest question; if that was your mom, wife, sister or daughter that was working at the bank that he threatened, would you feel the same way? Probably Not. When it happens to you, it is of course different. I try to be woke, but if someone stuck a gun in my wife's face, I'd hate them until the end of time. With that being said.... Gage is only being condemned because he was caught. I think of all the shoot interviews I've watched where the wrestlers that we idolize sit and laugh as they wax poetic about driving 100 mph down the interstate, pounding beers, and shooting at road signs. We watched New Jack assault people in the ring. Snuka probably murdered a lady. Dynamite Kid openly admits to breaking a teenage girls legs and splitting the insurance money with her father. The Bulldogs used to shoot Matilda up with steroids for fucks sake. Money laundering, rape, drug use, drunk driving, pedophilia, and countless other crimes I am forgetting. Pro wrestling is an industry full of terrible, terrible people..... So why is Nick Gage the one guy to be condemned?

I hate this term and I hate most of the people who use this term, but since it applies here, a lot of it is...(ugh) virtue signaling.
And no, I don't like Nick Gage as a performer at all. But he did his time, and the whole point of prison is actually *supposed* to be rehabilitation, rather than for people to live out their fantasies of prisoners being beaten, tortured, and raped. So if he's out and he's in a better place, more power to him.

And a lot of it is just tribalism. Whether it's AEW vs. WWE Tribalism, AEW vs. Other Indies, AEW vs. Old School Wrestling, etc. Gage is working for "the other side" so what he did is bad, while the stuff that "my guy" did (whether it's Jimmy Uso, Grizzly Smith, some guy who abused trainees in the New Japan dojo, or whoever) isn't really that important in the grand scheme of things.
