Marko Stunt Announces That He’s Signed With AEW
Indie star Marko Stunt, who turned 23 today, has just announced via social media that he’s signed with All Elite Wrestling. Stunt recently appeared at Fight for the Fallen, where he accompanied Luchasaurus and Jungle Boy during their triple-threat tag bout.
It’s my 23rd birthday, and I can’t think of another way to celebrate, than by announcing something huge! I would like to announce that I have OFFICIALLY signed with @aewrestling! Thank you to everyone who has supported me, and everyone at AEW! This is just the beginning.
Stunt is best known for his work with GCW and MLW. He appeared in the Over Budget Battle Royal at last September’s ALL IN event from Chicago. Check out his Tweet below.

Didn't they allude to this in a recent episode of BTE? Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus saw his hair and welcomed him to the fold, if I remember right?

I think Jim Cornette sums it up for me:
"I don't have anything against this kid. I'm sure he loves wrestling and it's his dream to be a wrestler. But not everybody should be allowed to do something just because they want to. Should I be allowed to play for Manchester United just because I'm a fan? Just because I know all the words to his songs, does that mean I can sing like Elvis? I blame the indy promoters and the marks that book for them for letting a kid this size and this young go out on their shows and do a bunch of crazy shit that anyone could see was going to end up with him getting hurt. The only reason to have a 125 pound pro wrestler on a show is to have him do a bunch of insane moves, because no one will take him seriously anyway, and then you're just inviting and enabling someone to f themselves up." (emphasis mine)
I usually try to hold my tongue and not shit on things other people like but I'll just say this - if, for every cool thing AEW has in the works, they also have stupid joke stuff like this, then I won't be watching. I am probably in the minority but I think guys like this belong in Chikara and the like, not in a mainstream, high profile promotion.
Okay. I will shut up now. My apologies.

I haven't seen enough of Stunt to say for sure what I think of him specifically but I agree that AEW has the potential to push me away if they lean too jokey or kayfabe-breaking. I hope they don't though, I'd like to have some wrestling that I enjoy following again.

They put their TV show on YouTube every Monday and it's easily the best TV product in pro wrestling right now. Like it's not even close.

AEW definitely needs fewer guys like this and more ass-kickers. If he's just there to make the stars look good, then okay--I guess--but if they start booking him to work 15-minute strong-style-wannabe matches with a bunch of false finishes, that ain't good. And I don't really have total faith that they'll refrain from doing that.

Not my 1st or 51st choice by any means. Jim Cornette is sweet, but he’s also a jackass too. When it comes to Omega & the Bucks, he needs to get over himself. No one under 50 right now would watch one of the matches from the 50’s through 80’s that he wets himself for. I love that stuff, but people now would be bored as shit if wrestling devolved back into its old form. Let him tell the Iron Shiek that he exposed the business, he break Jim’s back and make him humble. Omega and the Bucks had a big part in mainstreaming Japanese wrestling & like Jim, keeping ROH alive. Making a mainstream alternative will help the business and the guys. Not many guys in the industry that have had as huge of an impact in recent times as the Elite boys. The amount of talent on the roster that are actual wrestlers is substantially higher than goofs, so to frame it in a way that’s it’s even close to 20% of the roster is very misleading. I can’t remember of ever watching a company and liking 100% of the roster. Ever. I get the criticism of the move, once they sign the guy w no legs, maybe I’ll re-visit ur Jim Cornette “Just cuz they wanna wrestle...” quote. Until then just thinking we need to relax, as there’s been 3 shows so far. The first one excellent w a MOTY candidate & great wrestling moment w the Rhodes boys! Also, Mox showing up!

Beyond Wrestling’s weekly show has been very good. It’s been my favorite US promotion this year. I watch it on Independent Wrestling TV and it may be on FITE TV.

I love that stuff, but people now would be bored as shit if wrestling devolved back into its old form. Yeah no, you're absolutely full of shit here. I'm 28 and my wrestling viewing at this point is almost solely from that time period you described and I sure as hell wish wrestling was a lot more like Mid South and Crockett than what it is now. Let him tell the Iron Shiek that he exposed the business, he break Jim’s back and make him humble. I don't think Sheik can break anyone's shit at this point. Omega and the Bucks had a big part in mainstreaming Japanese wrestling & like Jim, keeping ROH alive. Making a mainstream alternative will help the business and the guys. Not many guys in the industry that have had as huge of an impact in recent times as the Elite boys. AJ Styles, Nakamura, Okada and Tanahashi all individually played a bigger part in exposing the west to New Japan than the Bucks and Kenny. They didn't 'mainstream Japanese wrestling', either. It's one promotion that most fans know about now, not the whole scene. The amount of talent on the roster that are actual wrestlers is substantially higher than goofs, so to frame it in a way that’s it’s even close to 20% of the roster is very misleading. It's still a ridiculously high number for a promotion trying to be a serious alternative especially when some of the more offensive people are featured parts of the programming. I can’t remember of ever watching a company and liking 100% of the roster. Ever. Well...that's probably not the case for everyone. I get the criticism of the move, once they sign the guy w no legs, maybe I’ll re-visit ur Jim Cornette “Just cuz they wanna wrestle...” quote. Nah they don't need to sign the dude with no legs for people to shit on this signing. Marko Stunt sucks and serves no actual purpose and has no place in a mainstream promotion. Until then just thinking we need to relax, as there’s been 3 shows so far. Yeah, and there's been basically the same problem with all three of the shows. The actual workers they have are good and have good matches and the stupid goofy bullshit sucks and they haven't changed it yet. The first one excellent w a MOTY candidate & great wrestling moment w the Rhodes boys! Also, Mox showing up! Yeah, the one MOTY level match the company has had was a match that would have basically been right at home on any 80s Mid South or Crockett event...wait, what was that you were saying about how if wrestling was like it used to be? No one under 50 right now would watch one of the matches from the 50’s through 80’s that he wets himself for. I love that stuff, but people now would be bored as shit if wrestling devolved back into its old form. Yeah, you might want to re-evaluate that line of thinking.
