I was under the impression AEW would be signing guys like Randy Orton, Luke Harper, Dolph Ziggler, Gallows & Anderson, Cesaro, Sasha Banks, the Revival and more? Maybe I read too much Reddit?

Apparently Marko Stunt is who you sign when WWE hands their unhappy talent huge contracts and you can't get the people you actually want. It's like when you go to the store as a kid and you wanna get Hulk Hogan but your mom gets you a He-Man bootleg and tells you it's the same thing.

I haven't seen enough of Stunt to say for sure what I think of him specifically but I agree that AEW has the potential to push me away if they lean too jokey or kayfabe-breaking. I hope they don't though, I'd like to have some wrestling that I enjoy following again. Have you given MLW a shot? They put their TV show on YouTube every Monday and it's easily the best TV product in pro wrestling right now. Like it's not even close. It's funny you bring this up because within the past 2-3 weeks I've begun watching MLW. I loved the original MLW. So far I've watched maybe the first 4 episodes of Fusion on YouTube plus the newest one. So far I'm liking it but not head over heels loving it. It's hard to pinpoint exactly what isn't quite grabbing me about it. Could be I'm not invested in any of the characters yet but I also have this feeling like nothing much happened after finishing an episode. I'm also wondering if I'm not as big of a fan of Pentagon and Rey Fenix as I originally thought. After watching the most recent episode, I think the Contra Unit will be a group that I get into though. Regardless, it's good enough that I'll keep watching.

I'm ok with Marko Stunt and like his spot in GCW, but not quite feeling this is a good signing for AEW. Jungle Boy is one thing, as the guy has an interesting character and fun tag team, and obviously has the real life benefit of having a famous father. Marko is more of a side attraction and is not a standout on the mic and not sure what he really adds to the mix on a regular basis at this point. I think most of the signings for AEW have been good ones so far. But the real test is booking a compelling weekly show. I personally like goofiness in wrestling and enjoy Being the Elite, so I'll probably give it a bit more of a chance than others. Most of my favorite indie wrestlers are there so I hope it works out, but I like others are skeptical of its long term success.

I went and checked out a few matches of Marko Stunt's last night. I don't see this as a big signing for AEW. Not really the type of signing you trumpet for publicity but I could see a potentially fun storyline where he is the perennial underdog, getting beaten by everyone he's in the ring with. Then maybe he starts pulling off a few flukey wins in some sort of streak. I could see something like that working and being kinda fun.

I saw the IWC is running down Gunner Miller today for being salty that Marko was signed and he isn't. I'm sure there are a bunch more like him keeping their mouths shut.
The experts say wrestling is an business based on attractions and AEW sees him as a worthwhile attraction. I guess we will see...
