LCW Thursday Night Thunderstrike
Monday, January 24 – Year 1
Bobo Brazil is in the ring with a microphone to start the show: “Since the Million Dollar Man isn’t ready for a fight just yet, Mr. Marquez… I formally request a match tonight. I need to stay ring-ready when it’s my time to take the title off that million dollar waist.”
Dave Marquez walks onto the stage: “Bobo Brazil, I love you! While Ted DiBiase is willing to sit on his butt in his comfy office chair, here you are ready for a fight. You got it, man! I’ll find someone in the back to give you a match."
King Kong Bundy vs. Steve Regal – King Kong Bundy starts the match by shoving Regal. He rolls backwards but catches himself before crashing through the ropes to the outside. Regal gets up, brushes himself off and walks up to Bundy and attempts to give him a shove… Bundy doesn’t move an inch and shoves Regal again. This time Bundy plods after him and keeps on the attack. Regal uses his quickness to avoid most of Bundy’s big power moves. When Regal ducks out of the way of a charging Bundy, he is able to tip him off balance and roll him up for a pin. Regal slides out of the ring and scoots away from the fuming Bundy.
Matt Sydal vs. Pete Dunne – Both wrestlers are aggressive in their own ways. Sydal is looking to keep things moving and the Bruiserweight, Pete Dunne keeps grinding the action to a brutal halt. 3 consecutive sit out powerbombs really slow Sydal down before Dunne finishes him with the BITTER END.
Jim Duggan vs. Butch Miller – As the match gets underway, the announcers talk about Duggan’s challenge he laid out over the weekend to all non-American wrestlers. He’s looking to prove the United States’ wrestling superiority. He’ll have his hands full with the New Zealander, Butch Miller. The bell rings and Butch charges forward with both fists ready to throw down. Duggan holds his hand straight out, confusing Miller. Duggan gives him the big thumbs up and yells “HOOOOOOOOO!!!!” The two brawlers fight back and forth. Duggan seems to be the one inflicting the greater damage in the exchanges but it’s hard to say. After a long, brutal match, Duggan’s spinning body slam gets the win.
Ray Stevens vs. Greg Valentine – A rematch of a match from LCW Saturday Night, which ended with Ray Stevens beating an incapacitated Valentine. This time Nick Bockwinkel has accompanied Stevens to ringside, decked out in the finest suit! Surprisingly Bockwinkel stays out of the action, just applauding his old friend when things go his way and shouting occasional bit of advice. Stevens didn’t really need the help though as he just mauls Valentine. When his BOMBS AWAY doesn’t work, he uses a jumping knee smash to finish Valentine off. Bockwinkel gives Stevens a hearty slap on the back and the two leave the ring area.
Backstage Butch Miller is shown walking into the dressing room to find Luke Williams bloodied on the floor. He freaks out and starts flipping over tables and chairs: "Who did this!?!"
Randy Savage vs. RVD – The Macho Man and RVD have a great back and forth match that unfortunately ends in DQ after RVD uses the Van Daminator with a chair. The ref gave him ample warning but he still went through with it.
Bobo Brazil makes his way to the ring for his main event match. Before the match can get under way, Dave Marquez walks out onto the stage:
Marquez: “Bobo, you and I talked backstage. I just don’t have a ton of guys backstage that haven’t already competed tonight. I had lined you up to face Luke Williams but he’s not cleared to fight. Unfortunately the only other competitor I have for you is Ares.”
Ares walks out onto the stage: “What do you mean ‘unfortunately?’ That’s just like you, Marquez. Counting me out before I’ve even stepped in the ring.”
Marquez: “I meant no offense, Ares, it’s just that Bobo Brazil has been asking for a big challenge tonight to keep himself ready for a match against the champ. I know you and I know you’ll give Bobo your best.”
Brazil: "Dave, you know me well enough. I'll take on all comers, unlike our current champ. If you tell me Ares is the best you have for me, I'm ready to go. I'm sure he'll give it his best effort. Come on down here, Mr. Switzerland!"
Bobo Brazil vs. Ares – Ares puts up a heck of a fight but Bobo is able to get the win after a rough 15 minute match. Brazil finishes the match after a series of COCO BUTTS.
After the match Ted DiBiase appears on the big screen:
“Looks like you need a little more warming up. I’ll tell you what, I’ll have Sherri line up a real opponent for you for next Thursday. If you can beat him, then we’ll have a conversation about getting you your match.”
