ABC & The LWF Present WORLD CLASS CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING on ABC-TV (8 p.m. Eastern/7 p.m. Central tonight, hosted by Gordon Solie & Jim Ross (hours 1 & 3), Mike Tenay & Larry Matysik (hour 2), Bill Apter, “Mean Gene” Okerlund & Gary Michael Cappetta)
LWF General Manager Bill Watts welcomed the crowd and thanked them for making last night’s LWF LegendsMania the greatest pro wrestling Pay-Per-View event of all time. He then explained that, tonight, between the matches, there would be a draft via blind draw, with 12 wrestlers and teams staying on World Class Championship Wrestling and 12 others moving to Prime Time Wrestling on ABC Family, which will go live from 8 to 10 p.m. Eastern, beginning next week. He said each roster will be augmented by four wrestlers picked in a “supplemental” free agent draft. He then brought out the four wrestlers chosen in that draft for a tag team match.
“IRON” MIKE DIBIASE (low) & PEDRO MORALES (low-b) beat “SUPERSTAR” BILL DUNDEE (low-b) & JERRY “The KING” LAWLER (low-b) when Dibiase beat Dundee with a Cross-Body Block (Referee: Mark Curtis)
Watts returned for Round One of the draft, but, before he could continue, Domenic DeNucci, the winner of last night’s Money In The Bank Ladder Match, came out and complained about the way Women’s World Champion Sherri Martel kept her belt by getting intentionally disqualified against DeNucci’s niece, Trudi, and how his friend, Bruno Sammartino, got “screwed” out of the World Championship by champion Bob Backlund and manager Lou Albano last night. “My friend Bruno, he did not deserve to be treated like that. Mr. Watts, I want to cash in my Money In The Bank TONIGHT!” Watts asked DeNucci if he knew what he was doing, and DeNucci said he did. So, Watts made the match for later tonight, Denucci vs. Backlund for the World Championship.
Watts returned to the business of the draft, bringing out two esteemed members of the LWF Board of Directors, Paul Boesch (who drew thunderous applause and cheers from the Houston crowd) and Vincent J. McMahon. Watts established that Boesch would draw named for World Class, and McMahon would draw for Prime Time. With that, Boesch drew the first name for World Class: Domenic DeNucci. McMahon drew the now-former World Tag Team Champions, the Road Warriors. Boesch drew Mad Dog Vachon, and McMahon drew Bruno Sammartino. Watts said four more names will be drawn after the next match.
“NATURE BOY” BUDDY ROGERS (low) (w/ LWF Women‘s World Champion “Sensational“ Sherri Martel) (low) beat BRUNO SAMMARTINO (low-b) with the Figure Four Grapevine finisher (Referee: Dave Hebner)
Back to the draft, Boesch drew the new National Tag Team Champions, the Fabulous Freebirds. McMahon drew Steve Corino. Boesch drew the East-West Connection, and McMahon drew Jimmy Snuka.
“LEGION OF DOOM” ROAD WARRIORS (Animal & Hawk) (low) (w/ “Precious” Paul Ellering) (low) beat ROUGH & READY (w/ Boss Winters) (low-m) when Hawk beat Ready with the Doomsday Device finisher (Referee: Johnny “Red Shoes“ Dugan) --The L.O.D. looked mad.
In the draft, Boesch drew Rikidozan. McMahon drew Dan Severn. Boesch drew The Sheik, and McMahon drew the Rock ‘N’ Roll Express.

In the draft, Boesch drew Larry Zbyszko, McMahon drew Butcher Vachon, Boesch drew Kerry Von Erich, and McMahon drew Jim Londos.
LWF WORLD TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH--10-MINUTE TIME LIMIT Champion “MODERN DAY WARRIOR” KERRY VON ERICH (low-b) beat RIKIDOZAN (low) with a Press Slam to retain the belt (Referee: Scrappy McGowan)
To conclude the draft, Boesch drew Hacksaw Jim Duggan, McMahon drew Frank Gotch, Boesch drew National Champion Lou Thesz, and McMahon drew Strangler Lewis.
LWF WORLD CLASS CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING MAIN EVENT--LWF WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP--BEST TWO OUT OF THREE FALLS Champion BOB BACKLUND (low-b) (w/ “Captain” Lou Albano) (low) beat DOMENIC DeNUCCI (low-b) (w/ Trudi “Trinity“ DeNucci) (low) two falls to none to retain the belt (Referee: Bronko Lubich) --Backlund won the first fall with a Delayed Vertical Suplex.
