LWF WORLD TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIP, 10-MINUTE TIME LIMIT Champion “GOLDEN GREEK” JIM LONDOS (low) and “MODERN DAY WARRIOR” KERRY VON ERICH (low-b) went to a time-limit draw; Londos retains the belt (Referee: Gilberto Roman) --This was the first time a TV Title Match went the full 10 minutes with no winner. Londos and Von Erich shook hands and hugged after the match.
“SUPERSTAR” BILL DUNDEE (low-b) & JERRY “The KING” LAWLER (low-b) and EAST-WEST CONNECTION (Adrian Adonis & Jesse “The Body” Ventura) (low-b) (w/ Bobby “The Brain“ Heenan) (low) went to a double-disqualification when the referee couldn’t stop the wild four-way brawl (Referee: Dave Hebner)

“CHIEF” JAY STRONGBOW (low-b) beat KEN RAPER (low-m) with the Tomahawk Chops finisher (Referee: Tommy Young)
Ross and Solie reported on what was called a “minor skirmish” between The Sheik and Mad Dog Vachon, who bumped into each other as Vachon headed towards the ring for the next match. They said backstage security and the respective managers pulled the two wild men apart before the battle could escalate.
MAURICE “MAD DOG” VACHON (low) (w/ Nikita Breznikov) (low) beat “HACKSAW” JIM DUGGAN (low) with the Piledriver finisher (Referee: Mark Curtis) --Duggan was helped to the back following Vachon’s vicious move. After the match, the lights went out, and, when they came back on, The Sheik was in the ring pummeling Vachon. Meanwhile, Breznikov and Farouk were yelling and shoving each other. Security charged the ring, and LWF GM Bill Watts announced that he’s going to put Sheik and Vachon in the ring one-on-one next week.
NON-TITLE MATCH “LIVING LEGEND” LARRY ZBYSZKO (low) beat National Champion LOU THESZ (low-b) with Head Slams to the Turnbuckle (Referee: James Beard) --Zbyszko had removed the turnbuckle padding and slammed Thesz’s head into the exposed metal before the referee could do anything about it, opening the champion’s forehead and weakening him for the upset pin.

LWF PRIME TIME CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING MELLON ARENA, PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA TUESDAY, MAY 5, 2009
*****RESULTS*****
(Card source key: low=Filsinger’s Legends Of Wrestling; low-b=Legends Of Wrestling Bootlegs; low-m=Legends Of Wrestling Memphis Bootlegs)
DARK MATCH “TERRIBLE TURK” YOUSSUF ISHMAELO (low) beat “PLAYBOY” BUDDY ROSE (low) with a Camel Backbreaker (Referee: Jerry Calhoun)
ABC Family & The LWF Present PRIME TIME CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING on ABC-TV (8 p.m. Eastern / 7 p.m. Central, two hours, hosted by Mike Tenay & Larry Matysik, Bill Apter & Howard Finkel)
LWF WORLD TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH, 10-MINUTE TIME LIMIT ED “STRANGLER” LEWIS (low) (w/ “Captain” Lou Albano) (low) beat Champion “GOLDEN GREEK” JIM LONDOS (low) with the Strangler’s Headlock finisher to win the belt (Referee: Dave Hebner)
“BIRDMAN” KOKO B. WARE (w/ Frankie) (low) beat KEITH ROBERTSON (low-m) with the Ghostbuster finisher (Referee: Scrappy McGowan)
LWF NORTH AMERICAN TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT QUALIFYING MATCH “MR. U.S.A.” TONY ATLAS (low-b) & “SOULMAN” ROCKY JOHNSON (low-b) beat “HOT STUFF” EDDIE GILBERT (low-b) & “BIG” JOHN STUDD (low-b) (w/ Bobby “The Brain” Heenan) (low) by disqualification when Gilbert hit Atlas with a large fireball (Referee: James Beard) --As Atlas writhed in pain and Heenan led Studd away from the ring, seemingly not wanting to be associated with what had just happened, LWF GM Bill Watts came out and said he wasn’t even going to wait for the Board of Directors to convene. “Eddie Gilbert, I saw what you did, and there’ll be no leniency this time! Eddie Gilbert, you are SUSPENDED for SIX WEEKS! Now, get your gear and get out of here before I add another week to your suspension!” Gilbert sputtered speechlessly before storming out of the ring to the back.
Bill Apter introduced the LWF World Heavyweight Champion, Pittsburgh resident Bruno Sammartino, and the ovation was even more deafening than that at Madison Square Garden last week. Apter then introduced a video clip on the LegendsVision screen of Sammartino being given the key to the city by the Mayor of Pittsburgh, Luke Ravenstahl, earlier in the day. Coming back from the clip, Sammartino visibly had tears in his eyes as he thanked the City of Pittsburgh and the fans for their support, saying, “I love the fans in New York (which drew a smattering of boos) … but here in Pittsburgh, I’m with family. YOU’RE my family, and, doggone it, I love each and every one of you!“ (Loud cheers) He repeated what he said last week about being the most honorable champion the LWF has had in a long time. This brought out former champion Bob Backlund and his manager, Lou Albano. Backlund said, “I’ve cooled down since last week, Mr. Sammartino, and I’ve got something to say. We have a rematch in Chicago on May 17 (the LWF’s The Verdict PPV). In case you haven’t noticed, tonight, I’m wrestling against Dan Severn in the semifinals of the National Championship tournament. If … no … make that, WHEN I win tonight, that puts me in the finals on the 17th. That will also put me in two championship matches on the same night. Well, Mr. Sammartino, that doesn’t worry me. In case you’ve forgotten, I am the master of the Harvard Step Test, and my cardiovascular conditioning is second to none. Believe me when I tell you that it will not be a problem to win the National Championship and then defeat you, whether it takes two falls or three, for that belt you carry which, by all rights, should be mine. Your muscle mass will tire you out, Mr. Sammartino. I am trained for endurance, and, come May 17 in Chicago, I WILL endure.”
“OLD SCHOOL” STEVE CORINO (low) beat COUSIN LUKE (low) with a Superkick (Referee: Tommy Young)
FRANK GOTCH (low) & “NATURE BOY” BUDDY ROGERS (low) (w/ “Sensational” Sherri Martel) (low) beat ROCK ’N’ ROLL EXPRESS (Robert Gibson & Ricky Morton) (low-b) when Gibson ran into the corner and Rogers pinned him (Referee: Mark Curtis)
LWF NORTH AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT SEMIFINAL MATCH “SUPERFLY” JIMMY SNUKA (low) beat “GOLDEN GREEK” JIM LONDOS (low) by countout to advance in the tournament (Referee: Dick Woherle) --Snuka hit Londos with a Cross Body Block against the ropes, sending both men tumbling over the top to the floor. Snuka barely beat the count back in, as Tenay and Matysik speculated that the earlier Television Championship loss to Strangler Lewis and last night’s time-limit draw against Kerry Von Erich took too much out of Londos. As Londos crawled back into the ring, Snuka helped him up and hugged him, and Londos raised Snuka’s hand in a gesture of good sportsmanship.
“LEGION OF DOOM” ROAD WARRIORS (Animal & Hawk) (low) & “PRECIOUS” PAUL ELLERING (low) beat “DOGFACED GREMLIN” RICK & SCOTT STEINER (low-b) & LWF World Tag Team Co-Champion “FANTASTIC” TOMMY ROGERS (low-b) (w/ LWF World Tag Team Co-Champion “Fantastic” Bobby Fulton) (low-b) when Hawk beat Scott with the Doomsday Device finisher (Referee: Gilberto Roman)
LWF PRIME TIME CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING MAIN EVENT--LWF NORTH AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT SEMIFINAL MATCH BOB BACKLUND (low-b) (w/ “Captain“ Lou Albano) (low) beat DAN “The BEAST” SEVERN (low) with the Crossface Chicken Wing finisher to advance in the tournament (Referee: Earl Hebner) --As Backlund and Albano celebrated, Snuka came out into the aisle and watched. Albano had to hold Backlund back as the show went off the air.

I like Backlund with Albano. It should also be interesting to see a Backlund-Sammartino feud play out as well.
The Sheik v. Vachon could be explosive too.
Good stuff.

LWF WORLD CLASS CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING NATIONWIDE ARENA, COLUMBUS, OHIO MONDAY, MAY 11, 2009
*****RESULTS*****
(Card source key: low=Filsinger’s Legends Of Wrestling; low-b=Legends Of Wrestling Bootlegs; low-m=Legends Of Wrestling Memphis Bootlegs)
DARK MATCH The IRON SHEIK (low) beat “PLAYBOY” BUDDY ROSE (low) with the Camel Clutch finisher (Referee: David Manning)
ABC & The LWF Present WORLD CLASS CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING on ABC-TV (9 p.m. Eastern/8 p.m. Central, two hours, hosted by Gordon Solie & Jim Ross, “Mean Gene” Okerlund & Gary Michael Cappetta)
LWF WORLD TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIP, 10-MINUTE TIME LIMIT Champion ED “STRANGLER” LEWIS (low) (w/ “Captain” Lou Albano) beat FABULOUS FREEBIRD MICHAEL “P.S.” HAYES (low-b) (w/ “Big Red” April Hunter) (low) when Lewis rolled up Hayes after accidentally clotheslining Hunter to retain the belt (Referee: Dave Hebner) --Hunter climbed into the ring with a folding steel chair, and Hayes went to whip Lewis into the chair. Lewis reversed the whip, but Hayes put the brakes on just short of the chair. When he turned around, Lewis charged at him with a clothesline, but Hayes ducked, and Lewis clotheslined the chair into Hunter’s face! When Hayes stood over Hunter with shock, Lewis quickly schoolboyed him and got the 1-2-3 to remain Television Champion.
Following the commercial break, the scene shifted to backstage, where Hunter was carried to the dressing room, her face a bloody mess, and all three Freebirds were standing over her. Gene Okerlund asked Hayes for an update, and he said, “You want an update? I’ll give you a *bleeping* update, Okerlund! Strangler Lewis INTENTIONALLY smashed that chair into ‘Big Red,’ that’s the update. I want Bill Watts back here RIGHT NOW!”
“SUPERSTAR” BILL DUNDEE (low-b) beat ADRIAN ADONIS (low-b) (w/ Bobby “The Brain“ Heenan) (low) with the Superstar Bomb finisher (Referee: Jerry Calhoun)
Backstage, LWF General Manager Bill Watts was with the Freebirds. Michael Hayes was throwing a fit, demanding that he suspend Strangler Lewis for attacking a woman. Watts calmly replied, “Michael, I understand your point, but, here’s the thing. April brought herself and the chair into the ring in the first place, so she was somewhere she didn’t belong.” Hayes started to yell when Watts said, “Just a minute, Hayes, I’m not through yet! If you hadn’t ducked, she wouldn’t have gotten hit. So, I’m not going to do anything to the Strangler. Here’s what I WILL do, though. I’ll give one of the Freebirds a match this Sunday at the Verdict Pay-Per-View event in Chicago against Strangler Lewis. The Television belt won’t be on the line, though. So, to make up for that, I’ll let you name the stipulation.” Hayes said, “Okay, Watts, if that’s your game, I’ll play. Let’s have a Badstreet Match. No rules, no nothing, just, uh, … Bamm Bamm beating the crap out of Strangler Lewis!” Watts agreed and started to leave, but he had one verbal parting shot for Hayes. “Oh, and by the way, Hayes … don’t worry about interrupting your preparation for your National Tag Team Title Match against (Mike) Dibiase and (Pedro) Morales. I’m barring EVERYONE from ringside during the Badstreet Match … Albano, you, (Buddy) Roberts, Hunter … ALL of you!” Hayes threw a tantrum as Watts left.
Coming back from the commercial break, Solie and Ross said there was a disturbance in the back, and the cameras that were there for the Watts-Hayes confrontation caught video of the battle as The Sheik and Mad Dog Vachon, who had his left shoulder heavily taped from last week’s attack, were going at it like wild animals. Managers Abdullah Farouk and Nikita Breaznikov tried to get the two separated, but there was no way that was happening. Watts ran out to ringside, took Cappetta’s mic and announced that the match scheduled for later in the broadcast would take place RIGHT NOW!
The SHEIK (low) (w/ “Grand Wizard” Abdullah Farouk) (low) and MAURICE “MAD DOG” VACHON (low) (w/ Nikita Breznikov) (low) went to a No Contest when the fight never entered the ring and, instead, went all over the building, with the two fighting out into the streets of Columbus (Referee: Johnny “Red Shoes“ Dugan)
“HACKSAW” JIM DUGGAN (low) beat DOMENIC DeNUCCI (low-b) (w/ Trudi “Trinity” DeNucci) (low) with a Piledriver (Referee: Mark Curtis)
“CHIEF” JAY STRONGBOW (low-b) beat ROBERT REED (low-m) with a Body Press (Referee: Ron West)
The Freebirds came out for the next match, with Buddy Roberts appearing to get ready to face Pedro Morales. Watts came out and asked Hayes what he thought he was doing. Hayes said he was going to let Buddy “Jack” take his place in this match since he’s wrestled already. Watts said, “Sorry, Mike, but the ‘Freebird’ rule doesn’t apply to singles matches. You were already signed to this match, and you’re going to wrestle in it RIGHT NOW!”
FABULOUS FREEBIRD MICHAEL “P.S.” HAYES (low-b) beat National Tag Team Co-Champion PEDRO MORALES (low-b) by countout (Referee: Gilberto Roman) --With Hayes and Morales outside the ring, when Roberts distracted the referee, Hayes clobbered Morales with a steel chair, tossed it aside and re-entered the ring. The referee saw Morales flat on the floor and counted him out. Morales’ tag team partner, Mike Dibiase, ran out, but the Freebirds quickly vacated ringside. Dibiase pleaded his case to the referee to no avail.
LWF NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP NUMBER ONE CONTENDER MATCH “The SENSATIONAL INTELLIGENT” DESTROYER (low) (w/ “Sir“ Oliver Humperdink) (low) beat “LIVING LEGEND” LARRY ZBYSZKO (low) with a Bombs Away Kneedrop to earn the shot at National Champion Lou Thesz Sunday night (Referee: Tommy Young)
LWF WORLD CLASS CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING MAIN EVENT “MODERN DAY WARRIOR” KERRY VON ERICH (low-b) beat RIKIDOZAN (low) with the Iron Claw finisher (Referee: James Beard)
NEXT WEEK’S SHOWS: 5/18/09--LWF WORLD CLASS CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING, Louisville, Kentucky 5/19/09--LWF PRIME TIME CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING, Cincinnati, Ohio

LWF PRIME TIME CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING NUTTER CENTER, DAYTON, OHIO TUESDAY, MAY 12, 2009
*****RESULTS*****
(Card source key: low=Filsinger’s Legends Of Wrestling; low-b=Legends Of Wrestling Bootlegs; low-m=Legends Of Wrestling Memphis Bootlegs)
DARK MATCH “PLAYBOY” BUDDY ROSE (low) beat NIKOLAI VOLKOFF (low) with the Bombs Away finisher (Referee: Earl Hebner)
ABC Family & The LWF Present PRIME TIME CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING on ABC-TV (8 p.m. Eastern / 7 p.m. Central, two hours, hosted by Mike Tenay & Larry Matysik, Bill Apter & Howard Finkel)
LWF WORLD TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH, 10-MINUTE TIME LIMIT Champion ED “STRANGLER” LEWIS (low) (w/ “Captain” Lou Albano) (low) beat “The TERRIBLE TURK” YOUSSUF ISHMAELO (low) with the Strangler’s Headlock finisher to retain the belt (Referee: Scrappy McGowan) --This was Ishmaelo’s first match on Prime Time Championship Wrestling, and it was the luck of the draw that put him in the TV Title Match.
LWF GM Bill Watts called out the finalists in the North American Championship Tournament, Bob Backlund (with manager Lou Albano) and Jimmy Snuka. Watts informed both men that they would get the opportunity tonight to scout each other closely …”VERY closely. Tonight, you’re going to be partners in a tag team match against the team of Frank Gotch and Buddy Rogers.” Backlund and Snuka had a tense staredown before Backlund and Albano went to the back, and Snuka said, “Brudda, I’m gonna do my best in the tag match, but Sunday night, Bobby Backlund, I’m gonna beat you to be the North American Champion!”
TWO-ON-ONE ELIMINATION HANDICAP MATCH “BIG” JOHN STUDD (low-b) (w/ Bobby “The Brain” Heenan) (low) beat COUSIN LUKE (low) with the Backbreaker finisher, but then Studd and S.D. “SPECIAL DELIVERY” JONES fought to a double-countout (Referee: Johnny “Red Shoes“ Dugan) --Studd had to beat both men to win, but either Luke or Jones could beat Studd to win the match. Studd eliminated the hillbilly quickly, but things got heated between him and Jones. Outside the ring, Studd apparently did not hear the referee’s instructions to re-enter the ring and got counted out while pounding on Jones on the floor.
“The TERRIBLE TURK” YOUSSUF ISHMAELO (low) beat KEITH ERIC (low-m) by countout (Referee: Ron West) --Under the rules of the Television Championship, a wrestler who wrestles for the title, always in the first match of the card, may take up to an hour to rest before wrestling in his previously scheduled match. However, Ishmaelo wanted no part of that and proceeded to batter Eric into a pulp, causing Eric to say he’d had enough and retreat to the dressing room, giving Ishmaelo the win.
“The GOLDEN GREEK” JIM LONDOS (low) beat “OLD SCHOOL” STEVE CORINO (low) with the Airplane Spin finisher (Referee: Tommy Young)
Backstage, Bill Apter interviewed LWF World Television Champion Strangler Lewis and his manager, Albano, about the match made last night by Bill Watts for the PPV this Sunday, Lewis vs. Terry Gordy of the Fabulous Freebirds in a Badstreet Match. Lewis calmly told Apter, “I probably wouldn’t know a bad street from a good street, but I do know this. With Gordy’s fine feathered friends barred from the arena, one-on-one, I can more than handle that big lug Gordy. I’m called ‘Strangler’ for a reason, Bill.”
“BIRDMAN” KOKO B. WARE (w/ Frankie) (low) beat “UNPREDICTABLE” JOHNNY RODZ (low) with the Ghostbuster finisher (Referee: James Beard)
LWF NORTH AMERICAN TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT SEMIFINAL MATCH “The LEGION OF DOOM,” The ROAD WARRIORS (Animal & Hawk) (low) (w/ “Precious” Paul Ellering) (low) beat The ROCK ’N’ ROLL EXPRESS (Robert Gibson & Ricky Morton) (low-b) when Hawk beat Gibson with the Doomsday Device finisher to advance in the tournament (Referee: Dick Woherle)
LWF NORTH AMERICAN TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT SEMIFINAL MATCH “MR. U.S.A.” TONY ATLAS (low-b) & “SOULMAN” ROCKY JOHNSON (low-b) beat “DOGFACED GREMLIN” RICK & SCOTT STEINER (low-b) when Atlas beat Rick with a Small Package to advance in the tournament (Referee: Mark Curtis) --Atlas’ face was still heavily bandaged from being burned by the suspended Eddie Gilbert, and one smack to the face by Rick enraged Atlas to the point that “Mr. U.S.A.“ was virtually unstoppable. This sets up the title match on Sunday night, with Atlas & Johnson vs. the Road Warriors for the vacant belts. The L.O.D. will also challenge the Fantastics inside a steel cage for the LWF World Tag Team Championship Sunday night.
LWF PRIME TIME CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING MAIN EVENT FRANK GOTCH (low) & “NATURE BOY” BUDDY ROGERS (low) (w/ “Sensational” Sherri Martel) (low) beat BOB BACKLUND (low-b) (w/ “Captain” Lou Albano) (low) & “SUPERFLY” JIMMY SNUKA (low) when Rogers beat Backlund with the Figure Four Grapevine finisher (Referee: Nick Patrick) --When Rogers got Backlund in the hold, Albano started yelling at Snuka to run in and break it up. Snuka refused, saying that “if he’s so good, he can get out of it himself.” Snuka then left the ring, leaving Backlund at the mercy of Rogers and having to tap out before serious injury could set in. Backlund not only wrestles Snuka Sunday night for the vacant North American belt, he also challenges Bruno Sammartino in a rematch for Sammartino’s LWF World Championship in a best-two-out-of-three-falls match.
