So on my day off (yesterday) I ran a random one-off supercard for sh!ts and giggles. It consisted of an 8-man single elimination tournament and 3 additional non-tournament matches including a big tag team grudge match between the Freebirds and Roddy Piper & Paul Orndorff, and a World title defense as Bob Backlnd defends against the hated Iron Sheik. *Note: All color cards used with the exception of GMC, and as mentioned before, I do use bootlegs because they're awesome.

Justin Credible [2] beat Kalisto [5]
The up and coming luchador dazzled with his assortment of aerial maneuvers, but it was Credible with a Singapore cane shot through the ropes that allowed the ECW star to pick up the victory.
First Round: Kerry Von Erich [0] beat George South [4]
The journey man put up a tough fight, as expected, but the Pride of Texas was just too much and put South away with the Iron Claw.
First Round: Ray Stevens [0] beat Dave Taylor [3]
The fans didn't know who to cheer for so they just boo'd both wrestlers relentlessly. The end came when Stevens dropped Taylor with the Crippling Piledriver.
First Round: Larry Hennig (0) beat The Destroyer [6]
The masked man took a beating from the powerhouse Hennig, but managed to survive an Axe early in the match by wisely placing his boot on the bottom rope. But a second one later on connected flush to the Destroyer's chest and gained Henning the impressive victory.
First Round: Abdullah the Butcher [1] (w/Gary Hart) beat Jimmy Garvin [8] (w/Precious)
Abdullah punished Gorgeous Jimmy with thrust kicks and a foreign object he kept hidden from the referee (thanks in part to Hart). Jimmy wouldn't quit and kept fighting back but the comebacks were only temporary. Abby's assault got to the point where Precious was screaming at the referee to stop the match which mercifully he did after the Butcher landed the Sudanese Meat Clever right across Garvin's throat.
World Title: *Bob Backlund* [2] beat The Iron Sheik [7] (w/Daivari)
Sheik spewed his anti-USA sentiments before the match, and Daivari hurled some insults at ringside as well that riled up the fans. The match was well wrestled with both competitors reaching into their vast suplex repertoire. After Daivari tried to involve himself, referee Bill Alfonso ejected him from ringside to the delight of the sold out crowd. This allowed Backlund to focus in on Sheik, and surprised him soon thereafter with a Rolling Backbridge to retain the title.
After the match, Daivari came back out and attacked Backlund from behind. Sheik loaded up his boot and stomped away at the champion and then began to apply the Camel Clutch. Just then, Hulk Hogan's music hit and the fans went nuts as he headed to the ring to even the sides. After a series of punches rocked both Sheik & Daiviri, Hogan & Backlund bounced their enemies from the ring with a big boot and huge atomic drop respectively.

Semifinal: Kerry Von Erich [2] beat Ray Stevens [5]
Good back and forth match that saw the fans (especially the women) firmly behind Kerry. At one point in the match, Stevens set Von Erich up for a piledriver outside of the ring, but instead ended up on the receiving end of a back body drop on the concrete floor floor. The finish came when Stevens tried a wild clothesline and Kerry countered by slapping on the abdominal stretch. Stevens in severe back pain from the miscue earlier tried reaching for the ropes, but was pulled back to the center and eventually submitted. (Don't like an abdominal stretch ending a match, so let's go with "Kerry countered with a backslide for the surpise 1-2-3!)
Semifinal: Abdullah the Butcher [2] (w/Gary Hart) beat Larry Hennig [3] with the SUDANESE MEAT CLEAVER
The match didn't go long and it wasn't very pretty while it lasted. It saw Henning clubbing away at Abby, and Abby returning the favor by biting, eye gouging and choking Henning, nearly getting himself disqualified. Hennig got the madman from the Sudan down on the mat and signaled for a big elbow drop. He bounced off of the ropes but Hart reached under and grabbed his leg. Following the distraction, Hennig turned around and caught a karate thrust to the throat that floored him. Abby then hit the Sudanese Meat Clever and got the pin.
Roddy Piper [1] & Paul Orndorff [2] beat Michael Hayes [0] & Buddy Roberts [2]
The two teams immediately went at it at the bell and never let up. Late in the match, as the referee's attention was turned to Roberts and Orndorff who were fighting on the floor, Piper slid into the ring and blasted Hayes over the head with a steel chair. With Hayes out cold, the referee re-entered the ring just as Piper applied the Sleeper. Three arm drops later and the match was over. Roberts tried tending to Piper after the bell and was jumped by Piper and Orndorff who weren't happy with just winning the match. They set Roberts up for a spike piledriver but Terry Gordy stormed the ring and landed haymakers saving his brother. Roberts recovered and joined the fray that eventually saw Piper and Orndorff get the worst of and they exited stage right. When Hayes came to, The fans cheered as the Freebirds stood together in the ring once again.
Final: Kerry Von Erich [4] b Abdullah the Butcher [9] (w/Gary Hart)
Dr. Mike Lano took his place at ringside for this important match, the big tournament final. The referee assigned to the match, Morgan Dollar, was cornered and intimated immediately by Hart & the scary as hell Abdullah. Before Gary Michael Cappetta could finish his ring introductions, Abby attacked Kerry as he stepped through the ropes. Abdullah controlled the early goings of the match by using the same foreign object we saw him sadistically use earlier on against Jimmy Garvin. It was almost as if everybody in the entire arena except for the referee could see him using it. Every time Kerry would momentarily gain the upper hand, Abdullah would respond with one of his dirty tricks and that included Hart at ringside. Kerry had the Butcher reeling from a series of overhead rights and then signaled for his Discus Punch. As he winded up, Hart jumped up on the ring apron. With Kerry and the referee distracted, Abby delivered a low-blow that crumpled Kerry. Late in the match and with both wrestlers busted open, Von Erich slipped out of an attempted Torture Rack Slam and landed the Discus Punch. With Abby now wobbly, Kerry slapped on the Iron Claw! He squeezed and squeezed and more and more blood poured from Abby's nasty ass forehead. Hart desperately tried to intervene once again but out of nowhere Bruiser Brody showed up and grabbed him and bodyslammed him on the concrete. In the ring, with the Claw locked in and the fans on their feet, Abdullah collapsed to his knees and then on to his back. Dollar made the count and crowd erupted! After the match, the intimidating Brody snatched the trophy from ringside and climbed into the ring. After hesitating briefly, he handed the trophy to a battered Kerry and raised his hand high in the air. Kerry soaked in the cheers and Brody signaled for Abby & Hart to come back to the ring.
Well that was fun
