You give Keith Lee the spotlight at Survivor Series, he gets over huge with an audience that hadn't watched NXT beforehand and you put him in a three way match where he could advance to beat Adam Cole for the title on the last live show of the year...and you don't take it? He's not going to be hotter at the next Takeover in April than he was right now.
I get that Balor came from the main roster, but you could easily burn that match with Cole the next time AEW has something else you want to counterprogram.

Just because he is not getting a title push doesn't mean they dont have plans for him. Look at all the talent for the past 40 years who didn't need a title around their waists. Rowdy Piper was such a big personality that he was over and never needed a title. In wrestling you have to have patience and endurance, do it for creativity of making moments that stand the test of time.

WWE has never been great at striking when the iron is hot. Instead, the tend to stick to their plan instead of going w the flow. Balor is old news. Either put him w the Club or let him go.

WWE has never been great at striking when the iron is hot. This. You don't have to look back very far to see how often the WWE will push whomever they planned to over someone who got over on their own.

Lee has been one of my favorites for years. Seeing him get the reaction he did was amazing, and I hope WWE doesn't blow it.

They do also have Takeover Portland in February, so could be saving him for that. But yeah he should have gotten this match and have Ciampa and Balor feud for a bit.

My two cents. While not having great trust in WWE booking it is possible they have a plan that will work out for him down the road. Also while I see a great future for Keith guys shouldn't always get a push just cause they are over. I mean James Ellsworth was over once upon a time and that's just one example.

Keith Lee may be the most over superstar in all of WWE(Raw, Smackdown & NXT). Maybe they're thinking about moving him to the red or blue brand and challenge for that belt. I'd love to see Lee vs. either Brock Lesnar or Bray Wyatt and win the World or Universal Championship. But because I'd like to see it, that means it's not going to happen.

Yeah see the thing about it is that Roddy Piper was a legitimate pop culture icon and Keith Lee is a guy that most wrestling fans had never seen before Survivor Series. They gave him that run with Roman at the end of the Survivor Series match to get him over. You don't give a guy that kind of a rub and then bungle the one chance you have to give him the title while he's still red hot. Imagine if Austin won the 1998 Rumble and then lost the title shot on the next PPV to like...Triple H. That would have been monumentally stupid...just like the decision to not go all the way with Keith Lee. He's never going to be this hot again, they had the chance to make an actual superstar and they blew it.
