So dumb....not only does anything THEY decide is children's content is forbidden for posting but if you complain about YouTube's decision, they just censor it anyways.

You aren't forbidden from posting children's content, they just won't monetize it in the same way they used to. It's a pretty complicated issue but it really boils down to YouTube seemingly not wanting to figure out the ins and outs of this outdated law... so they are just taking this crappy one-size fits all approach. It's too bad because if it doesn't change quickly, it's probably going to be the end of a lot of channels that cover anything that might be deemed "for children" and the content creators didn't do anything wrong, YouTube did. Per the law they weren't allowed to collect information on people under 13 and they did.

I can deal with that....but now being able to post hey I like this cartoon I enjoyed in the 80s because kids watch it is the strange issue. Time to fix the law for sure.

From what I've read the issue is primarily about monetization. So aslong as your not making money off of a video targeted to kids your all set.

From what I've read the issue is primarily about monetization. So aslong as your not making money off of a video targeted to kids your all set. It's not quite that simple. The creator's intended audience isn't necessarily taken into account. It's more a question to them of whether a video could potentially be interesting to kids. They have bots that essentially scan videos, descriptions, etc. So if I made some videos about the Legends of Wrestling game, for example, the bots might see that I made videos about a wrestling game and determine that it is something of interest to kids. So there are adults that are into Disney stuff, action figures, Lego, cartoons, videos games, comic books, etc. that make videos about are now getting their videos demonetized, comment sections turned off and their organic search results throttled. Nearly every reason they would have to make videos are being removed.
