Red Bastien (16) v. Larry Hennig (49)
For the second straight encounter, we have the classic match up of power vs. speed. Larry Hennig gets into it with Morgan Dollar before the bell and Dollar appears shaken from the encounter. Bastien opens with a flying body press that downs Hennig for an immediate one count (R10/P2) and then quickly comes off the top with a perfect cross body block that knocks Hennig off his feet for another pin attempt (R7/P3). FIRED UP! ATOMIC DROP connects. 1, 2, kick out (R9/P5). Hennig does not know what end is up! Second ATOMIC DROP…three count (R5/P6).
Up next…
Nick Bockwinkel (9) w/Bobby Heenan v. Tommy Rogers (56)
This year’s tournament is off to a crazy start. First Christopher pushes Brazil to the limit and then Abdullah goes out cleanly to Fargo. Then Vader just gets by 2 Cold before Bastien goes over Hennig in a total squash. Plus we have Brazil, Vader and now Bockwinkel all in the same grouping of the draw. It will be a hard road to the quarterfinals for anyone in this section of the tournament bracket.

This is going to be as wild as ever. Have to go with Tricky Nicky here. Should be fun either way.

Bastien cleary not getting paid by the hour.
Bock should top Rogers without much trouble. Then again...

Thanks for the feedback everyone. You are right aceldamas, Bastien was certainly not getting paid by the hour. Nick Bockwinkel (9) w/Bobby Heenan v. Tommy Rogers (56) Bobby Heenan has some words for Morgan Dollar who again appears upset by the interaction. Dollar has been a much abused official in the early going of the tournament. Rogers uses is agility and scores with a Beell across the ring and arm drags. Bockwinkel gets sent into the corner hard but manages to roll out of the corner to avoid a charge to the corner and Rogers hits hard against the buckles. Bockwinkel rolls him up for one (R10/P3). Rogers is stunned and Bockwinkel capitalizes with a FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK. Rogers makes the ropes (R7/P5). Bockwinkel makes his way to the top but Rogers counters a deathjump getting a boot up to the head. Rogers covers for one (R10/P2). Bockwinkel counters a forearm smash and sends Rogers into the ropes. Bockwinkel for a backdrop… countered with a piledriver. Sleeper takes some of the fight out Bockwinkel. Wishbone stomp countered and Bockwinkel moves to a back suplex that downs both men. Bockwinkel chokes Rogers on the ropes and Rogers rolls to the floor. Bockwinkel follows and Rogers sends him into the post shoulder first. Wishbone stomp has the fans roaring. Roger goes for a second but Bockwinkel kicks him off. Abdominal stretch slows down Rogers. Rogers gets tossed outside. Heenan is getting epic heat on the floor. Back in the ring, Bockwinkel earn his own heat with a choke on the ropes. Bockwinkel then covers… 1, 2, foot on the rope for leverage, 3 (R4/P5). Heenan and Bockwinkel celebrate on the floor as the fans show their displeasure after the controversial pinfall. Up next… Jimmy Snuka (24) v. Al Snow w/Head (41) The Superfly has always been hit and miss for me in the past so this we may get to see the first real upset of the tournament.

Tricky Nicky lives up to his name. I could see Snow causing trouble, but I'll still vote Superfly.
