Killer Kowalski (21) v. Kip James (44)
Kowalski gets into the face of Morgan Dollar and does not allow the official out of the corner. The exchange appears to have upset Dollar. James gets an early hip toss but Kowalski counters back with a backbreaker and James bails. Kowalski follows for an exchange on the floor. Kowalski sends the match back inside the ring. He locks in the KOWALSKI CLAW and James cannot counter or reach the ropes (R4/P5).

Nice to see Kowalski with a decisive win. I enjoy both of the next guys so I'll just let the dice land where they do.

Blackjack Mulligan (28) v. Diamond Dallas Page (37)
Mulligan works the arm and then goes to a choke. Page sends Mulligan into the corner and Mulligan backdrops Page over the corner to the floor. Page lands and twists his ankle. Page crawls back into the ring and Mulligan goes back to work. Mulligan with a big boot to the face. Page gets sent into the ropes but drops Mulligan with a flying tackle on the rebound. Page with a Russian Leg Sweep. Page to the top. Moonsault! OUT OF MY SEAT. Page back to the corner… second moosault! ROARING! DIAMOND CUTTER. BANG! 1, 2, 3 (R6/P6). Mulligan is all over Morgan Dollar after the match saying his shoulder was up but the decision stands as Page celebrates with the fans at ringside. Up next, the last match of the top half of the draw and it should be a fun one . . .

This tournament has been another epic one! I'm thrilled to see both Hansen and Brody advance to the next round. That Diamond Cutter win for DDP over Blackjack Mulligan was great. Magnum T.A. vs. Robert Gibson has potential to be a great one. I'm picking Magnum.

Magnum T.A. (5) v. Robert Gibson (60)
A handshake is the first contact of the match after Morgan Dollar calls for the bell. Allen goes for an early press slam but Gibson drops out and attempts his own body slam but Allen powers out and shoves him back before connecting with dropkicks, the last of which sends Gibson outside. Allen comes outside for an exchange of forearms in front of Dr. Mike Lano. Allen comes off the top with a flying clothesline. Gibson stumbles to his feet dazed and Allen connects with a BELLY TO BELLY SUPLEX. Gibson kicks out after two (R11/P6). Allen follows with an atomic drop and hooks the leg for a two count (R7/P4). Allen goes to the top again for a cross body block . . . Gibson rolls through for a two count of his own (R6/P2). Enzuigiri drops Allen and he rolls to the floor. Gibson comes outside for an exchange of forearms and this time Gibson maintains the edge. Back in the ring, Gibson applies a GIBSON LEGLOCK but Allen breaks free (R7/P3). Gibson goes back to his finisher again and Allen makes the ropes to keep his tournament hopes alive (R9/P4). Gibson goes to the top of the corner for a cross body but Allen counters with a dropkick… OMG! Allen presses for two (R8/P5). Power slam from Allen. Right jabs are countered but Allen counters back blocking a slam attempt and then connecting with jabs. Allen unleashes dropkicks to down Gibson who regains his feet but is crushed with a BELLY TO BELLY SUPLEX for the win (R7/P9). Both members of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express go out in the opening round.
We are half way through the opening round now and I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who has checked in to see where tournament is going this year. I special thanks to those who have taken the time to make a prediction or make a comment on the action. Up next, Harley Race looks to avoid an upset and begin his quest to return to the finals this year…
