I just got off the phone with the CRCN (Clinical Research Center of Nevada) and they told me based on my application data I am being placed into their vaccine study as I qualify as a healthy candidate for the prescreening.
I also found out I might get alot of money for doing this (I knew there was compensation but I thought it might just be something like $20.) But I am not doing it for the money (hell I didn't even know about the money when I applied.) I just want to do this to try to help get a vaccine for a disease that has killed 100s 0f 1,000s of people around the world.

You making money is no issue as the people behind this will make good money. Not only from the government for a successful vaccine but their rep with improve leading to more money.

If this goes through I will get paid $1,000s (which was news to me until today, I thought it might just be $20 or something) and the vaccine makers will get paid billions even though I am basically a guinea pig. If this does take place and if I do receive this money I think I might donate some of it to the local animal shelter where I got my cat (and save the rest to go to future shows as that is my favorite thing to do.) But I really don't care about the money, I just want to do what I can to try to find a vaccine so we can stop this deadly disease.

I have to say, Vegas, that if you can do this that you absolutely SHOULD! How often does one get an opportunity to contribute to something that could be so beneficial for all of the world? The money is just gravy. Nice gravy to have, but gravy nonetheless.

On another coronavirus note, our local school board met last night and voted unanimously to start the year in 2 weeks completely online.
They are going to reassess the situation every 30 days and at some point we may transition to a blended model where up to 18 students could be a in class 2 days/week and the others do online work at home.
Until we get to the blended model, it sounds like teachers have their choice of working in their empty classroom or at home (if so I am definitely staying and working at home.)
I wish we could go back regular but I know it is not safe right now to put 40 students (who can be carriers even if they personally are not getting sick as much from this) in a small classroom as our county today and yesterday reported the highest number of COVID deaths since April.

Vegas, what is your school doing about fall high school sports? good question The school district's high school football teams were holding their Summer practices but one of the high school teams in the district is now under quarantine due to some COVID infections among its personnel. I know some of the local coaches are pushing to get football and possibly some other Fall sports moved to Spring semester for this year, but there has been no definitive answer yet. I will feel bad for the student athletes, coaches, and everyone else involved if high school sports get completely canceled this year.

The money is just gravy. Nice gravy to have, but gravy nonetheless. Although I am not 100% sure it is finalized, based on my talks with the CRCN it sounds like I am think I am going to be involved. I saw that the crucial Phase 3 for this trial vaccine in the US starts this Monday July 27th. But I was told the particular Phase 3 trial vaccine study I would be involved here in southern Nevada would start the first week of August (I will be in Indianapolis the first weekend of August for GCW but will return to Nevada on Monday August 3rd.) If it does not happen, it is not because I did not make a serious effort to volunteer. I am not afraid and I really want to do this.

Vegas, what is your school doing about fall high school sports? tystates, I now have a more specific answer to your question here about Nevada: The Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association announced Thursday a plan that would allow six weeks of competition during the spring semester for all sports.
Winter sports would begin their seasons Jan. 15 and end Feb. 20; fall sports would follow with games starting March 5 and ending April 10; and spring sports would be set for first games April 16 and to end May 22.Hopefully schools will be back in session by January.
