Card 04: North East Wrestling Legends Alliance @ Capital Center, Landover, MD North East Wrestling Legends Championship Tournament – Round One Larry Zbyszko upset “The British Bulldog” Davey Boy Smith. Smith was able to get the early advantage with a solid power attack including a pair of superplexes and a delayed vertical suplex. Zbyszko managed to whip Smith into the corner but the Bulldog rebounded out with a clothesline that nearly ended the match. Zbyszko bailed and managed to trip up Smith, drag him to the floor and whip him into the ring post shoulder first. Smith was stunned and Zbyszko planted him with a PILEDRIVER to take the victory. Jerry Lynn bested Iron Sheik. Sheik lets everyone know what he thinks of America and there is epic heat. Lynn has the fans rocking with his quick offensive at the bell. A bulldog bounces Sheik’s head off the mat and then a DDT does the same thing. Sheik is staggered and Lynn comes off the top with a deathjump that lights up ringside and gets the three count from Morgan Dollar. 2 Cold Scorpio over Ivan Koloff. This was a classic battle of power vs. speed. Scorpio kept the powerful Russian off balance and the fans were loving it. Koloff’s resilience was on full display after he survived back to back to back THE DISS THAT DON’T MISS. The fans could not believe it and neither could Scorpio. Koloff was running on fumes as Scorpio continued to unleash his attack. Koloff kicked out again after THE DISS THAT DON’T MISS for the forth time. Scoprio nailed three Tumbleweeds in a row and the fans could not believe it when Scorpio landed a flip leg drop but Koloff got his shoulder up at the last second. Scorpio then hit his finisher for the fifth time later in the match to advance to the next round. [Koloff’s pin was 12 at the end of the match!] Greg Valentine survived “Macho Man” Randy Savage. Savage was like a man possessed early on as he dominated Valentine seeming to attack from everywhere. His FLYING ELBOW SMASH landed in the middle of the ring but Valentine was able to just get his shoulder up before Morgan Dollar counted to three. Savage continued to batter Valentine including a flying axe-handle to the floor. The battle went outside and Valentine was able to ram Savage’s leg into the ring post. It was enough to slow Macho Man’s attack. Valentine went to work with forearms, slams, elbows and chops. Valentine connected with back to back cobra clutch suplexes for a near fall and later a pair of shoulder breakers lead to more near falls. Valentine kept hammering away until he dropped Savage throat first across the ropes and covered him for the upset pinfall. North East Wrestling Legends Championship Tournament – Semi-Finals Jerry Lynn downed Larry Zbyszko by disqualification. Lynn was looking for a another quick victory but Zbyszko proved a formidable challenge and seized control of the action after running Lynn into the ring post busting him open. Lynn struggled to regain his senses as Zbyszko worked the lower back with Boston Crabs and backbreakers. Outside, Zbyszko earned some epic heat with a chair shot across the back. Later, Zbyszko took down the turnbuckle cover upsetting the referee. The action went back to the floor where both men traded blows. The referee stepped in and Zbyszko shoved the official aside and that was enough to cost him the match. 2 Cold Scorpio bested Greg Valentine. The Hammer has some words for Morgan Dollar before the bell and the official is anything but impressed. The battle between these two was hard fought. Valentine trapped Scorpio in the FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK but Scorpio made the ropes to keep his title hopes alive. Scorpio came back with a Tumbleweed and later nearly won the match with a moonsault. They brawled around the ring several times. Valentine went to the top for what appeared to the be a finishing blow but Scorpio countered with a superplex and then hit THE DISS THAT DON’T MISS to advance to the finals. The Valiant Brothers defeated Night of Dreams World Tag Team Champions Rock ‘n’ Roll Express to win the titles. This was an epic war from the outset. The Valiant Brothers made full use of defensive tags rarely missing the opportunity to make the tag and turn the momentum of the contest multiple times in the encounter. On the other side, the Express only were successful three time in defensive tags and were at a significant disadvantage as a result. Robert Gibson ate the ring post mid way through the match and was a bloody mess before it was all over. Rick Morton was able to save his partner from a SUPER ELBOW and later Gibson kicked out after a SPINNING NECKBREAKER. The Valiant Brothers continued to stop the offensive attacks of the Express until the caught MORTON with a SUPER ELBOW. Morton kicked out of the cover while the pin save was blocked but he could not kick out after Johnny Valiant immediately followed up with a SPINNING NECKRBEAKER to capture the titles. North East Wrestling Legends Championship Tournament – Finals Jerry Lynn beat 2 Cold Scorpio to win the North East Wrestling Championship. Both competitors look drained from the previous two rounds. Lynn presses early but gets caught charging into the corner with a clothesline from Scorpio. Scorpio controls with kicks and a moonsault that is dead on target. Lynn looks about finished when he counters a standing dropkick attempt and lands a springboard dropkick . He covers and gets what appears to be a slightly quick three count from Morgan Dollar to win the tournament. Top Ten 1. Buddy Rogers, Night of Dreams World Champion 2. Jerry Lynn, North East Wrestling Legends Champion 3. Sandman 4. 2 Cold Scorpio 5. Davey Boy Smith 6. Iron Sheik 7. Greg Valentine 8. Larry Zbyszko 9. “Macho Man” Randy Savage 10. Hacksaw Him Duggan Thanks for the feedback TTX . I was pleased with the team of Gorgeous George & Adrian Street. They performed well beyond what I expected and the matches themselves were a blast to roll out. Curry winning was interesting going forward as well but the match was very one sides in reality which was a disappointment. What for the rubber match between the two on card 07.
With the Valiant Brother’s tonight, I am again faced with another vacated title. This has really handcuffed my booking out to the gate as I wanted to establish my champions before getting into story lines/feuds etc. I do not know what was more shocking, Jerry Lynn winning the tournament or Greg Valentine taking out Randy Savage in the opening round? Thanks for following along.

Card 05: American Wrestling Legends Association @ Rochester’s Mayo Civic Center, Rochester, Minnesota
Terry Gordy crushed Jake “The Milkman” Milliman. This one lasted just three moves and ended with a PILEDRIVER . Jimmy Snuka downed Wild Bill White. Superfly spend several minutes greeting his fans at ringside before getting into the ring. Snuka started off in control after Morgan Dollar called for the bell but White was able to catch Snuka with a countering clothesline in the corner. That was all the offense White would have before a SUPERFLY LEAP landed and the three count was made. Flying Redheads stunned Big Van Vader & Stan Hansen. This was the classic match up of power v. speed. Vader and Hansen pushed around their smaller opponents early on but the Redheads were able to make frequent tags to keep from getting too wore out. The momentum turned when the Redheads caught Vader with rapid fire dropkicks spilling Vader to the floor. The big man appeared to injury his leg when landing. Lyons was able to trap Vader in a FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK when the action returned to the ring but Vader made the ropes. Vader kicked out after a rolling reverse cradle from Lyons before Bastien tagged in and pressed the attack against Vader who could barely move at this point. Bastien connected with an ATOMIC DROP and scored the shocking pin while Lyons cut off Hansen from making the save. Alexis Smirnoff downed Del Wilkes. Smirnoff cornered Morgan Dollar before the bell and gave the official an ear full. Dollar appears shaken by the encounter. Wilkes comes out on fire in hits back to back to back PATRIOT MISSILES but Smirnoff kicks out after each one as the fans lose it. Wilkes keeps on his opponent and hits a fourth PATRIOT MISSLE but Smirnoff gets a foot onto the ropes. Wilkes goes back to the top but this time Smirnoff shoves Dollar back into the ropes causing Patriot to crotch himself and fall to the mat. HEART PUNCH follows for a near fall. They go to the floor and Smirnoff attacks with a chair earning huge heat. Back inside, SMIRNOFF hits a second HEART PUNCH for the comeback win (Snake Eyes!). Night of Dreams Women’s Champion Sherri Martel dominated Madison Rayne. Morgan Dollar has strict instructions for both competitor before the bell. Martel takes control from the opening bell with forearms and clotheslines. A choke on the tope rope gets a two count. Martel comes off the top with a deathjump smash and then hits a TOP ROPE SPLASH to retain the title. Rayne has no offense the entire match.
Bruiser Brody bested Abdullah The Butcher. Butcher sends Brody into the corner early but the action quickly spills outside. From that point Brody takes control of this one and beats Butcher into a bloody mess running him into the ring post twice and using chairs and chains on his foe. In the ring, Brody stomps away and slams Butcher several times shacking the ring. Brody landed a JUMP KNEE DROP for a near fall but Butcher kicked out which only enraged Brody further. Multiple boots to the face had Butcher out on his feet as the onslaught continued until Brody landed a second JUMPING KNEE DROP for the violence victory. AWLA Champion The Destroyer & Larry Hennig bested Nick Bockwinkel & King Kong Bundy w/Bobby “The Brain” Heenan. Destroyer and Hennig were able to cut off Bundy from his corner early on and unleashed an incredible attack on the big man which resulted in several near falls until Hennig connected with THE AXE. Only the distraction of Heenan kept Bundy alive. Bockwinkel was able to get into the match after Heenan slipped a foreign object to Bundy who blasted Destroyer with it for a big near fall. However, Bockwinkel was so under attack himself. Destroyer and Hennig dominated the former AWLA champion including three Bombs Away from Destroyer and a FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK as well. Bundy was able to get back into the ring but was too fatigued to get anything going. Henning pounded away on Bundy before Destroyer landed two Bombs Away, one onto the leg, and then finished the match with a FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK. [Bundy’s pin was 10 and Bockwinkel’s was 9 at the end of the match!]
America Wrestling Legends Association Tag Team Champions Road Warriors w/Paul Ellering defeated Original Midnight Express w/Bobby Heenan. Morgan Dollar clears the managers from ringside before the bell and Heenan is losing his mind! The Express cut off Hawk from his corner and went to work for several minutes. Randy Rose was able to get a two count after a jumping knee drop. They continued to isolate Hawk for several more minutes but Hawk was finally able to avoid an elbow smash from Dennis Condrey and hot tag in Animal. A back body drop downed Condrey and the champions immediately went to a DOOMSDAY DEVICE. Hawk covered for the three count while Animal blocked the pin save. Top Ten 1. The Destroyer, AWLA Champion 2. Nick Bockwinkel (2) 3. Bruiser Brody (3) 4. Abdullah The Butcher (4) 5. Jimmy Snuka (-) 6. Terry Gordy (-) 7. The Crusher (7) 8. King Kong Bundy (9) 9. Alexis Smirnoff (10) 10. Larry Hennig (-)

Card 06: National Wrestling Legends Alliance @ Civic Center, Philadelphia, PA
Lenny Lane defeated George South. South gave Lane some anxious moments much to the surprize of the fans when South caught Lane on the top of the corner and tossed him to the mat. South could not capitalize on his good fortune before Lane regained control and at one point connected with three gut wrench power bombs in a row. Lane scored the win after a wheelbarrow facebuster. Glamour Girls over Trish Stratus & Princess Victoria. Morgan Dollar is in charge of the action. Judy Martin gained the early upper hand against Straus and nearly puts her away with a POWER BOMB. Stratus is able to get the hot tag to Victoria who uses her speed effectively against both her opponents but a hair pull whirly bird slows her down. Leilani Kai keeps the pressure on but it is Martin who puts Victoria way with a POWER BOMB. Johnny Mantell downed Mr. Hughes. Mantell had the fans behind him and came out on fire. Hughes nearly falls to a RUSSIAN LEG SWEEP and then counters a clothesline with one of his own sending both men to the mat. Hughes tried to regroup on the floor but Mantell is there with a drop toe hold that smashes Hughes hard into the floor. Hughes finally catches a break and lands a big boot to the face and then a SPIKE SLAM. The fans love it when Mantell kicks out. Later, Hughes starts to run out of gas and telegraphs a backdrop. It is the opening Mantell needs and he regains control putting away Hughes after a second RUSSIAN LEG SWEEP. “Exotic” Adrian Street & Gorgeous George w/Cherie Dupré over Barry Windham & Sam Houston. The pre-match antics of George & Street drive the fans nuts and then spill into the ring as Morgan Dollar gets an ear full and looks shaken up. Barry Windham gets cut off from his partner from the outset and takes a vicious beating as George & Street make tags every two to thee moves. Windham kicks out of a CRUICIFX before he finally manages to get the hot tag to Houston. Any counter attack is quickly extinguished and Houston is soon in as much trouble as his partner. George turns up the heat when he smashes Houston in the leg with a chair during a brawl on the floor and then moments later attacks the same leg with a SPINNING TOE HOLD for the victory. Johnny Valentine crushed Diamond Dallas Page. The fans were just settled in after the intermission as Valentine went to work early against Page who simply had no answers tonight. Valentine dropped Page with a big chop to the chest for a near fall and then drained the life from his foe with a sleeper. An ATOMIC SKULLCRUSHER followed and that was it. “Dr. Death” Steve Williams bested Ted DIBiase by disqualification. Williams hit the ring with payback on his mind and boy did no deliver. DiBiase was thrashed from corner to corner and post to post. Power move after power move shook the ring including three straight football tackles at one point. Williams was never able to catch DiBiase with a finisher before DiBiase found an opening and tossed Williams to the mat from the top of the corner. DIBiase immediately tried to end it with a FULL POWER SLAM but only obtained a two count. DiBiase then punched Williams with his LOADED GLOVE but the referee saw it and immediately called for the bell. Williams’ head was split open but DiBiase decised to get out of harms way before Williams could regain his senses. National Wrestling Legends Alliance Champion Harley Race survived Bobo Brazil. This was a war from the moment that Morgan Dollar called for the bell to the final fall. Brazil nearly stole the victory in the opening minute with a backbreaker. From that point, both competitors pulled out all the stops. Race had a stretch where he landed several deathjumps followed by a DIVING HEADBUTT and a PILEDRIVER. Brazil kicked out of the cover each and every time before he soon came back with a lengthy bear hug and back to back COCO BUTTS. Race refused to be pinned. They exchanged blows inside and outside the ring. Race attempted a submission with an Indian Deathlock but Brazil made the ropes. Brazil landed a big hammer punch for a near fall and later picked up a two and three quarters count after a Bobo body slam. Race would not be outmatched on this night and scored the winning fall following a VERTICAL SUPLEX (snake eyes!). Lou Thesz defeated Night of Dreams World Heavyweight Champion Buddy Rogers to win the title. The fans were still buzzing after the last encounter but were treated to another classic match up. Thesz pressed the action early and went for the win often. Rogers had to survive an early GRECO-ROMAN BACKDROP. Thesz followed Nature Boy to the floor and the two traded blows in front of Dr. Mike Lano who hungerly snapped away with his camera. Back inside, Rogers found himself on top but it only for a moment as Thesz drove the champion back to the floor with dropkicks and later with an airplane spin. Rogers could only escape defeat so many times before Thesz executed another GRECO-ROMAN BACKDROP to claim the title. Top Ten 1. Lou Thesz, Night of Dreams Heavyweight Champion (2) 2. “Wild” Bull Curry, Night of Dreams Hardcore Champion (1) 3. Harley Race, National Wrestling Legends Alliance Champion (3) 4. “Dr. Death” Steve Williams (6) 5. Ted DiBiase (4) 6. Bobo Brazil (5) 7. Johnny Valentine (7) 8. Jackie Fargo (8) 9. Mr. Hughes (10) 10. Lenny Lane (-)

Thanks for the comments TTX . I also enjoyed the win by Brody and he will be back in action against Butcher on the next AWLA card as this feud is still a hot one. Martel is proving to be a dominate champion but we will see how long she can hang onto the strap once the second expansion pack competitors join Night of Dreams over the coming cards.

Congrats to Lou Thesz on winning the Night of Dreams Heavyweight Championship!
I also use Gorgeous George and Exotic Adrian Street as a tag tag in my LOW fed (I call them Gorgeously Exotic) and they picked up a good victory in Night of Dreams for you over Barry Windham and Sam Houston.
Good show bookerbill!

Thanks for the feedback Vegas . Gorgeous George & Exotic Adrian Street have been a real highlight in the National Wrestling Legends Alliance for me so far and their hot streak has earned them a shot at the current NWLA Champions Midnight Express. That match will headline card 9 from the Convention Center in Miami Beach! Lou Thesz looked great in his title win. I had debated back and forth on Harley Race or Lou Thesz as to who would be the inaugural NWLA Champion. I though Race would result in more interesting round robin and while that proved to be the case, Thesz ended up with the strap in any event. Buddy Rogers will get his rematch on card 10 as part of the North East Wrestling Legends show at Madison Square Garden.
