CENTRA: BADLANDS OF TARKANIA
A Prequel Tale:
TIMELINE - Unknown Settlements, Badlands of Tarkania, Centra
Day 1
The first case of an unknown virus in a remote settlement located in the Badlands of Tarkania. Scientists are so far unable to determine its origin.
Day 8
The novel virus has been spreading rapidly. Officials have been worked to slow the spread, but the infection rate is rising rapidly. After doing thorough contact tracing, Centra health officials believe that all cases seem to be linked to a single individual who had spent time at the Ruins of Antilia. No further information about the individual is available. A temporary hospital is being constructed because the remote settlement does not have the facilities to handle the large number of infections that are being reported.
Day 10
The first death from the “Antilia Virus” (as the media has dubbed it) occurred today. More and more members of the remote settlement have been coming forward with symptoms, which include numbness in extremities, severe headache and difficulty breathing.
Day 20
Chaos has consumed the settlement. In just over two weeks, ten percent of the population has died from the Antilia Virus. Dead bodies are beginning to pile up in the streets as there are no real coroner facilities in the settlement. Those not yet infected are fighting among each other, stealing from one another or worse. The entire settlement and three others have become lawless. Centra officials have quarantined the entire area and no one can get in or out.
Day 40
The worst nightmares have come true. The settlements are under attack from a zombie apocalypse! Over half the population in the area has been killed by the rabid Antilia Virus. 13 days after death, Antilia Virus victims have been coming back from the dead. Nobody is safe. If you can hear this transmission, find cover now!
[Sounds of zombies breaking down doors can be heard]
Be safe! May God have mercy on us all!
[Gun shots]
No….NO!!
[Screams are heard before the transmission cuts out and all we have is dead air.]
Day 41
An automated news cam catches three Survivors walking carefully down a set of train tracks in a dust storm. They are scavenging abandoned box cars for gas, weapons, food, medicine and tools.
Day 42
All hope is lost. Zombies are everywhere all across the settlement and the surrounding area. If there survivors still out there, they are alone. All communication has been lost. The last roaming news cam stopped broadcasting.
Day 45 (All footage hereafter was recovered from cams with that were found in the recovery effort)
Bobby Lee stands with slumped shoulders leaning against a wall in an ally. Dead bodies of zombies the Survivors just killed lay at their feet.
Thriller: WOOO! Hell yeah! What a rush! You think there are any more coming?
Nikolai quietly digs through the pockets of the dead, collecting their supplies and weapons.
Day 50
Bobby Lee sits alone on a couch of an unidentifiable military bunker wearing a thousand yard stare. Dead bodies of zombies the Survivors just killed lay at their feet.
Bobby Lee: I knew that guy. I knew that guy and I killed him.
Nikolai: Who did you know?
Bobby Lee: [Pointing toward one of the zombie bodies] I played against him in high school. I hadn't seen him in years. But I recognize the man. He went off to play ball somewhere else the same year I was drafted here.
Nikolai: That was no man. That was a monster.
Thriller: That’s right man! And you tore his stinking head off like it was nothing! HA!
Bobby Lee finally breaks his thousand yard stare and fixates his gaze on Thriller.
Day 55 Christmas Eve night, unnamed settlement, Badlands of Tarkania
The Survivors are weary, sitting together around a fireplace in an abandoned home contemplating their final moments. The sun is almost down and soon hordes of the undead will be upon them for what is likely the final time. Bobby Lee rises to his feet, ready to face the challenge. His fellow survivors join him.
Thriller: This is the end! WOOOOO! See you on the other side, gentlemen!
Nikolai: If tonight is our last, so be it. We go down with a fight!
A blinding light fills the room as the fireplace is suddenly replaced by a time portal.
A voice in the light speaks: If you want to live, come with me now.
Nikolai: Who the hell are you?
As zombies begin destroying the walls of the home, Nikolai fires a shot at first attacker entering the room. Bobby Lee takes a final look around before grabbing Nikolai and Thriller in a big bear hug. He takes a deep breath before jumping through the portal.
BOBBY LEEBefore the zombie apocalypse, Bobby Lee Donaldson was a popular young second generation gravity ball player for the Tarkania Wildcats.
Bobby was a known for being a team player and a quick thinker with a fun loving and calming personality off the field. On the field, Bobby Lee was a vicious player. He was nicknamed “Throwback” by his coaches for nasty playing style and his insistence on wearing his father’s old school helmet. Powerful and alert, Bobby Lee made a living protecting his quarterback. In the new world, Bobby Lee protected his new allies in the streets using all the same skills.
REMOVE THE HEAD is similar to a camel clutch, without the grace of a pro wrestler. Bobby Lee simply sits on the back of his opponent, grabs their head and cranks back as hard as he can. The opponent is forced to give up before Bobby Lee rips his head off!
THRILLERThriller is Centra stunt man who was shooting a spy movie in the Badlands of Tarkania when the outbreak occurred. It was his fearless dare-devil style that kept him alive in the most dangerous situations.
Thriller is an avid risk taker and adrenaline junkie. He is the life of the party and relaxes others around him with his good nature personality and ability to make others laugh. But he is also total wild card, never hesitant to jump into the face of danger with a smile.
Thriller maxes his adrenaline out with Thrill Seeker, a diving stunt fall onto the opponent outside of the ring and DEATH DEFIER, a fearless cannonball drop from the top rope down onto his opponent. Both moves do damage to Thriller too, but he lives for it. What a rush!
NIKOLAINikolai is the founder and leader of the Survivors. He is ex-military, though his exact branch and rank remain muddied. He is natural and charismatic leader. When the outbreak in the Badlands of Tarkania began, Nikolai was working as a shady underground smuggler. A master of the black markets, Nikolai was making his living selling drugs, weapons and other illegal paraphernalia from the darkest corners of the planet before zombies consumed the Badlands.
How Nikolai was able to recruit Thriller and Bobby Lee remains a mystery for now, but they are as tight of a three man group as strangers can be (if they are strangers at all). Thriller and Bobby Lee are good people turned bad by circumstances out of their control. Who they used to be and who they have become are different people. Nikolai was already a bad guy. A cerebral threat to everyone around him. But the outbreak made him stronger. Once a loner, Nikolai has evolved into a dangerous psychological predator.
Nikolai leads the Survivors with no apologies. He carries around his signature cattle prod and is not shy about using it. This can get Nikolai disqualified, a foreign concept to the Survivors who know no red lights inside or outside of the ring. Survivor Slashing is a ruthless thumb spike to an opponent’s throat. CURB STOMP is a heartless finisher developed by crushing zombie skulls.
In trios matches, Nikolai unleashes SURVIVAL INSTINCTS. It is a calculated gang attack where Bobby Lee and Thriller smash the two wrestlers not legal in the ring and knock them off of the ring apron, taking the opponent’s tag team partners out of the match for the moment. With the referee distracted trying to restore order, an undetected Nikolai uses his cattle prod to smash the opponent in the head and and go for the pin.
Note: Because the opponent’s tag team partners are temporarily incapacitated during SURVIVAL INSTINCTS, no pin saves can be attempted when this move is rolled.
