Not super surprising to see Axel released. They haven't had a clue what to do with him in a long, long time. They've tried a lot of different things and nothing has felt quite right. Maybe it has something to do with not wanting to call him a Hennig. Hopefully he can find himself on the indies / AEW / Impact / ROH.

I'm happy for Axel. They really weren't doing anything with him. Seems like they went out of their way to make a joke about him, and the few times he got over. They quickly cooled him off. Not that I'm a major fan of his or anything, but I'm really looking forward to seeing what he does.

I could see Joe Hennig showing up on NWA Powerrr, wanting to honor his father and grandfather by winning the belt neither of them ever could, the 10 Pounds of Gold!

He feels like he would be a good fit for their roster too.

WWE FIRES ANNOUNCER TONY CHIMEL & MANY MORE
WWE made a lot of cuts in 2020, and now another famous name in the company is gone. Tony Chimel has been let go by WWE, but he wasn’t alone.
According to PW Insider, WWE let even more staff go on Friday. It was confirmed that the number is around ten to fifteen in total. “Mostly logistical and behind the scenes” staffers were cut. Tony Chimel was among those who was released by the company. He has been with WWE since 1991, and he was well-known as an announcer on the SmackDown brand. In recent years he worked mostly behind the scenes.
There have been additional staff let go from World Wrestling Entertainment on Friday, mostly logistical and behind the scenes staff working out of Stamford, CT. One source believed it was 10-15 staffers in total.
Chimel was also known for how he announced Edge and Christian to the ring, particularly the “Rated R Superstar.” We will continue to monitor this situation for any more names that WWE let go, but Chimel was one of them.

WWE Releases Zelina Vega WWE has just announced the release of Zelina Vega. There’s no word yet on what led to Vega’s release, but we will keep you updated. She last wrestled during last Friday’s SmackDown, in a Team SmackDown Qualifier with Natalya and the winner, Ruby Riott. Vega, who is married to SmackDown Superstar Aleister Black, signed with WWE in June 2017 and debuted on the WWE NXT brand. She was brought to the main roster in the 2018 Superstar Shakeup. Vega was just drafted from RAW to SmackDown in the 2020 WWE Draft. It’s interesting that Vega tweeted the following before the release was announced: “I support unionization.”
