 3/1 The SunBall Studios - Pasadena, California"Welcome to Pasadena, California you are tuning into CALIFORNIA WRESTLING the State of Action..." This broadcast opens with Nick Bockwinkel joining Tom Sale at the broadcast table for our opening match, which pits Johnny Mantell and Brad Armstrong versus one another. We see both Mantell and Armstrong walk out and they both have a few words with the WORLD TELEVISION CHAMPION before they enter the ring to face off for the shot at the WORLD TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIP belt... *WORLD TELEVISION CONTENDERS MATCH*JOHNNY MANTELL over Brad Armstrong (RUSSIAN LEG SWEEP)Johnny Mantell was the better wrestler of the two on this night and he ended up winning the match and the title shot by beating Armstrong with his finisher. After the match, Nick Bockwinkel walks up to Mantell near ringside and both men exchange words and then shake hands, which the studio crowd cheers for. Our next match has Red Bastien versus the Masked Superstar, who prior to this show stated that he will get his hands on Magnum and destroy him... RED BASTIEN over Masked Superstar (Interference DQ)That match didn't take long to end when Justin Credible charged the ring and interefers in the match, which ended when the referee disqualified the Masked Superstar and your winner is Red Bastien. Walking out next are Butcher Vachon and JJ Dillon and Dillon tells Tom Sale that he is here in CALIFORNIA WRESTLING to take clients like Butcher Vachon to the top and that comment draws loud jeers from the studio audience... BUTCHER VACHON w/JJ DILLON over "Mr.Electricity" Steve Regal (HANGMAN)Our last match pitted hated wrestlers and it was Butcher Vachon who ends up winning the match over Steve Regal and after the victory, JJ Dillon again speaks and he warns Nick Bockwinkel that the Butcher is coming for him and that the WORLD TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIP will be Vachon's. Tom Sale kicks off this broadcast of CALIFORNIA WRESTLING OFF THE ROPES talking about how Johnny Mantell will face Nick Bockwinkel for the WORLD TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIP tonight, then it is the debut of Hacksaw Jim Duggan. Jim Duggan has what seems to be a easy wrestler to face and that wrestler is "Mr.Electricity" Steve Regal, who has not a win to his name here in CALIFORNIA WRESTLING as reported by Tom Sale... "MR.ELECTRICITY" STEVE REGAL over Hacksaw Jim Duggan (FT.LAUDERDALE LEGLOCK)In what could be a big upset, Steve Regal looked the better wrestler versus Hacksaw and "Mr.Electricity" ends up winning the match via his finisher. After securing the win, Steve Regal joins Sale at ringside and he talks about how at the GOLD HORIZON Special Event he will earn a shot at the WORLD TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIP. Just before our next fight is to begin, Tom Sale announces that the earlier planned tournament for the WORLD TELEVISON CHAMPIONSHIP will now become a annual tournament at the end of the first quarter to see who'll go onto the next quarters Special Event to face the holder of the WORLD TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIP belt... RED BASTIEN over Justin Credible (ATOMIC DROP)We witnessed a solid back-n-forth match between Red Bastien and Justin Credible, in fact at one point Credible got away with a SINGAPORE CANE shot. In the end though, Red Bastien is your winner. It is now time for the WORLD TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH pitting Johnny Mantell versus Nick Bockwinkel and it is Bockwinkel who is out first to the ring and then Mantell follows him up, then our fight is off and running... *WORLD TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH*NICK BOCKWINKEL (*) over Johnny Mantell (Out of the Ring DQ)Johnny Mantell lost his cool later in that fight, which was a fight that saw Mantell give the champion a run for his money. Mantell was warned by the referee and it was Mantell who did not listen and he slammed the defending champion into the ringpost and Bockwinkel is your winner and still WORLD TELEVISION CHAMPION. The heat was still on and out of nowhere Gorgeous George (Cherie Dupré is near by) enters the picture where Nick Bockwinkel who is in the heat of the moment helps double team Mantell and Mantell is injured from the post match attack, then this broadcast ends with Nick Bockwinkel figuring things out and steps away from Gorgeous George, then Bockwinkel bumps into a old foe in Larry Zbyszko and then the picture fades to black... Brad Armstrong and Johnny Mantell fought one another for a shot at Nick Bockwinkel and the WORLD TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIP where Mantell won that encounter, now they face off again in the GOLD HORIZON CUP TOURNAMENT. The non-title match was signed by Teddy Long for GOLD HORIZON and I'm sure if Larry Zbyszko wins that match, he'll get a shot at the title. Nick Bockwinkel was calm, cool and collective when he spoke to me and he stated that Zbyszko is doing what he does best and that is try to cheat his way to the top. This Special Event kicks off with Tom Sale welcoming one and all to GOLD HORIZON, then he talks about being at the SacCenter in Sacremento, California and how it will be a great night of wrestling action. We see a much larger crowd in the building (than you see at the SunBall Studios) and they are all jazzed about tonight and the action that is slated... *GOLD HORIZON CUP TOURNAMENT*BUTCHER VACHON w/JJ DILLON over Hacksaw Jim Duggan (HANGMAN)*GOLD HORIZON CUP TOURNAMENT*GORGEOUS GEORGE w/CHERIE DUPRÉ over Red Bastien (Count Out)Our first two matches of the tournament were off and running where in the first fight Butcher Vachon and Hacksaw Jim Duggan went toe-to-toe, but Vachon takes the victory. Gorgeous George had a top showing against Red Bastien, which proved too much for Bastien and the "Gorgeous One" wins the fight and he advances like Butcher Vachon onto the next stage of the tournament... *GOLD HORIZON CUP TOURNAMENT*MAGNUM T.A. over "Mr.Electricity" Steve Regal (Abdominal Stretch)*GOLD HORIZON CUP TOURNAMENT*BRAD ARMSTRONG over Johnny Mantell (Turnbuckle Crash)Magnum T.A. looked focused on the task at hand and that was "Mr.Electricity" Steve Regal and Magnum earns the win, while Brad Armstrong took advantage of the injury of Johnny Mantell and Armstrong earns himself the win and both he and Magnum T.A. advance in the tournament. Tom Sale is now joined by Larry Zbyszko and the "Living Legend" as he calls himself states that he does not cheat and that he will beat Nick Bockwinkel tonight and earn a title shot, those comments drew loud "YOU STINK!" chants from the crowd... *GOLD HORIZON CUP TOURNAMENT*MAGNUM T.A. over Butcher Vachon w/JJ Dillon (Running Lariat)*GOLD HORIZON CUP TOURNAMENT*GORGEOUS GEORGE w/CHERIE DUPRÉ over Brad Armstrong (Off the Ropes Pin)Our next match saw Magnum T.A. and Butcher Vachon lock up and during the match Magnum warned JJ Dillon to watch himself, then when the fight came to a close it was Magnum coming out from the turnbuckle to secure the victory. Our next match was between Brad Armstrong and Gorgeous George who had help from Cherie Dupré when she distracted the referee to save George from the jaws of defeat. In the end it was the "Gorgeous One" who wins the fight by rolling up Armstrong off the ropes... *GOLD HORIZON CUP TOURNAMENT*GORGEOUS GEORGE w/CHERIE DUPRÉ over Magnum T.A. (SPINNING TOEHOLD)Gorgeous George was dominate in the final match of the GOLD HORIZON CUP TOURNAMENT and during the fight he delivered a ROLLING HIPLOCKS, which softened up Magnum T.A. for the finale in the SPINNING TOEHOLD by Gorgeous George. The crowd were livid mad that Magnum T.A. lost and they let Gorgeous George hear it with loud jeers, which made the "Gorgeous One" smile. Cherie Dupré who has the GOLD HORIZON CUP TOURNAMENT trophy in hand, hands it to George and George gives it a kiss after Dupré sanitizes the trophy. Up next we have Nick Bockwinkel the WORLD TELEVISION CHAMPION facing Larry Zbyszko in a non-title match and both men come out to the ring at different times to Bockwinkel being cheered and Zbyszko being jeered... *WORLD TELEVISION NON-CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH*NICK BOCKWINKEL (*) over Larry Zbyszko (BOCKWINKEL SLEEPER)It was one solid fight where both Nick Bockwinkel and Larry Zbyszko each had a solid offensive showing, but Nick Bockwinkel was a bit better on the night and he wins the match over the "Living Legend". You could see that Larry Zbyszko was not all too happy and he said to Bockwinkel, "I'll see you again and it will be I who wins" and the crowd once again lay in the jeers. This broadcast of CALIFORNIA WRESTLING GOLD HORIZON concludes with Tom Sale signing off while highlights are being shown, then we get one last shot of Nick Bockwinkel holding up the WORLD TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIP belt...
