Looking at my title spreadsheet and the combined title reign records, there is always something that catches my eye. A blemish that mars my world title history so to speak. In my WORLD/GALAXIAN title division, almost everyone is at 24+ card reigns (Star Warrior has the second shortest reign at 11 cards but he also has two more reigns) ... a lone reign champion, who held it for just five cards and hasn't been anywere close to the World title picture since.
Don Muraco. Muraco doesn't just have the shortest lone reign in fed history, he ended Andre the Giant's final title run. Muraco crushed Andre and then got beat twice by Piper who took the title from him. Muraco hasn't even been close to the title since then. I kind of wish I had at least given him a break and a couple more cards in his reign. Now I know what some of you might be saying but Todd I see the Fabulous Moolah currently has the shortest reign in your fed history at 2 cards. Moolah is constantly in the title picture and I see her nabbing at least one more title run in her career so that 2 will go away from the combined reign history soon. Muraco I don't know ...
I probably shouldn't have called this topic regret, but whos someone you had as champion but not sure how they got there or did worse than you thought?

Probably Chris Candido and Billy Red Lyons. They both got title shots after they died and both fluked into winning the titles. They both dropped them on their first defense. After that, I stopped giving wrestlers title shots after they died.

S.D. Jones was one win away from being my fed's champion. Can you imagine how long his run would have been?

A cardinal rule of the game is don't call it a title match if you don't want that challenger to win.

Harley Race lost the title to Dara Singh. Singh's second defense was against Dusty. The Dream was injured and couldn't wrestle so he was replaced by Junkyard Dog who won the title. He's my current champion but the next week sees him defend twice against Harley Race and once against Bob Backlund so I'm betting on a short reign.

tystates ... I would have loved a long Don Muraco title run, he just couldn't handle it apparently lol. He won the title in epic fashion and then quickly dropped the belt and hasn't been anywhere since. He deserved the match and the win but then I don't know whats happened to him lol.

For me Muraco won the I-C title from Johnny Valentine and lost in his first title defense against Rikidozan.

Brutus Beefcake won the title in my 80's themed fed on a fluke die roll, just one champion removed from Road Warrior Animal's run with the belt.
