I've really struggled going back and forth on if I wanted to type this but I'm really not a big fan of this new set. It's better then last years but I really feel like a lot of wrestlers are getting lost in the weeds and Tom is really focusing on a big picture comic idea that I can't get into to. Now don't get me wrong I don't hate it all but I'm struggling with it.
Here are my faults, you can agree or disagree but it's just my opinion as a long time player:
Epoch as a face? I don't like this. Plus remember a few years ago when the big deal was Epoch and Sly and both are bit players in my opinion, dwarfed by "Gods".
What happened to Turmoil and have you ever seen a time when the Gladiators were basically bit players? Didn't Turmoil leave for a possible 2 year cleansing 4 years ago?
We built up a new Titan (sorry I love the Titans) and we get an Overtime face turn almost as an afterthought.
Can we get some new Animen? Monolith doesn't look like one which basically leaves Wolf. Its like lets just keep the name even though we really aren't the traditional idea.
Also maybe this is a rant but I can't remember a time every in which Tom introduced so many characters that only lasted one or two years and were gone. Off the top of my head in the last 5 or 6 years we have seen the introduction and lose of (almost the entire Future Shock 2130 squad, Star Slayer Mayhem Unleashed, Darkest Justice, Witness, the entire Crimestoppers squad, the 6 month run of Maramus and Nightmare). It just seems weird to me that we are getting so many cards that are really only being used for a year or two.
Personally I could live without more wrestlers disappearing, two silly for me, hopefully there will be a payoff that isn't they are in a new fed.
Also I'm burnt out on the commissioner being a storyline but I'm burned out on this in the WWE as well. I get annoyed at it switching frequently especially if we aren't getting a card out of it.
I don't mind the Royal Court comeback but I was secretly hoping for maybe a great grandson of Omega as it is the 50th anniversary.
Love the updates for Climber (still hate the name) and Tank. Saber and Basillisk are cool additions. I don't hate the Chameleon Creatures but I probably won't use their special attraction. Kralla is awesome, I've always felt we need more women to sustain a real division.
I'm sorry if I've offended anymore (I know in the past if you've criticized Tom's writing it got ugly) and I know many of you love this era but i'm not a fan overall of maybe the last 5 to 7 years. I feel like Tom has turned a fun wrestling federation into cosmic comic book and for me has lost part of the spark that made it so exciting and fun as it seems to be focused on a big picture and everyone gets one big year and then gets lost in the background.
I agree with a lot of the points you raise (Maramus and Nightmare deserved more) but I'll make a case for Epoch.
He survived 10 plus years in the harshest conditions and came back with the goal of taking out Sly Drury. I was surprised that he came back as a villain. I had him as a tweener we half way through 2134. Also it says that Endgame doesn't really trust him as a hero. It seems he's FDF because of Endgame's Code that says you're either hero or villain. If he wants to continue his war he has to side with the heroes. Just my two cents.
Edit: he's not a tweet
