When I do battle royals occasionally, I also only have 2 wrestlers fighting for a set number of moves (usually 6) and then go through the entire stack in groups of 2s and then mix them all up again.
I also don't make eliminations automatic when the wrestler on offense rolls Out of the Ring. Instead I make the defensive wrestler roll their PIN when the wrestler on offense rolls on Out of the Ring to determine if they are actually eliminated at that point. I do that for a number of reasons, but mostly because it is a different defensive mindset in a battle royal where you see wrestlers trying harder to grab the ropes (for example skinning the cat) or land on the apron or just fight the attempt to get thrown over- and you don't see those types of defensive attempts as much (still there for sure but certainly less frequent) in a regular match where the wrestler wouldn't lose just for touching the floor.

How many participants in your Battle Royal matches and how long does it take to play one?

Mine can take a little while and # of participants varies. 10-20 usually. I will randomly lay all the cards out on the table. Who you are next to is who is fighting. I'll do five moves or so and mark who was on what offensive level. Move to the next pair. After going through all of them go back to the beginning. Sometimes I will keep the same two others switch it up. If on offense you can jump and attack whoever you want. I'll allow an ally to make a save sometimes. If you roll out of the ring the opponent is gone. If you roll your pin you have to roll to see if you are thrown out or not, then add a fatigue coin.

I used to do something like ty does but don’t have the space anymore, I shuffle my cards and drop two. Destiny chose those two who then fight until someone is eliminated.

How many participants in your Battle Royal matches and how long does it take to play one? I've done as few as 10 wrestlers and as many as 25. I even did a Two-Ring Battle Royal one time with 25. That didn't take as long as you'd think. But I think this last 25-man one I did (single ring) took over 20 minutes in real-time.

I went looking on Chris' old Board for a quick Battle Royal version. Mr. Jimmyface had a simple (yet complex) set up for this ( original post): I used this for my new fed (more about this soon) to determine the first HW Champ! It works well except the system doesn't say who eliminated the wrestlers getting thrown out. I just used the next lowest wrestler's name on the list! It still took some time to play out since I had 32 wrestlers in the BR. I do think I will use this system going forward, however! Todd C WTIC

Something else I've done with my battle royals is have the order of elimination determine the rest of the matches on the card. So the first two out face each other and so on. Nice when the final two guys have match to end the show.

How many participants in your Battle Royal matches and how long does it take to play one? For me, it varies. Sometimes 10 wrestlers and sometimes 20+. It does not take me too long (plus when I play I usually have something like RAW or Impact playing on the background so I am multitasking anyway.) It would definitely take me less time though if I made eliminations automatic whenever a wrestler rolls on Out of the Ring. I make them roll their PIN before they are successfully thrown out- yet it still definitely benefits the brawlers with multiple Out of the Rings on Level 3 Offense as it is basically extra finisher attempts for them, they are just simply not automatic. I always liked what Tournament Master wrote for Out of the Ring on the Red Carpet Rumble chart as part of the CWFH Act II set: Out of the Ring: If the roll is less than or equal to 8 plus or minus the defensive wrestler’s better power or agility rating, then the wrestler is eliminated. If the roll is greater, then the defensive wrestler is able to avoid elimination, the defensive wrestler adds a fatigue token and the wrestler on offense rolls again on LEVEL 3 OFFENSE

Nice when the final two guys have match to end the show. I did this years ago in my USWA, as this was a popular gimmick in some Southern territories. (I even remember WCW doing it on a card at the Omni in Atlanta around '92.) I actually did it as an 11-man Battle Royal where the 10 guys eliminated were paired up with each other in singles matches and the winner challenged the Southern champion for the title in the main event. It was fun to see what pairings came out of the eliminations. I even had a few matches that were sort of dream matches that never happened again. I was thinking of bringing that stipulation back at some point.

It would be alot of fun to watch that and see who gets eliminated next to set up the matches that you did not know in advance (in this case for the booker as well as the fans) would take place. I like this!
