2nd fall: Quackenbush wins with backbreakers. Quackenbush stayed alive by targeting the back of George.
3rd fall: George wins with turnbuckle pin. Quackenbush went down in the corner and George took the match.
TED DIBIASE def. FRENCH ANGEL, 2-1

1st fall: F. Angel wins with bear hug. DiBiase took a major pounding (5 coins).
2nd fall: DiBiase wins with Figure 4. DiBiase showed great guts and determination to even the match.
3rd fall: DiBiase wins with Figure 4. DiBiase takes the match.
ANTONINO ROCCA def. DICK HUTTON, 2-0

1st fall: Rocca wins with Victory Roll. Hutton dominated the match but got caught out of nowhere and pinned.
2nd fall: Rocca wins with Backbreaker. Rocca quickly ended things with his finisher.

1st fall: Iron Sheik wins with Camel Clutch. Londos was outworked but fought a long first fall (Londos 6 coins).
2nd fall: Iron Sheik wins with Camel Clutch. Londos had little fight left (Londos 8 coins).
DON LEO JONATHAN def. GEORGE HACKENSCHMIDT, 2-1

1st fall: DLJ wins with Mormon Swing. This one was an all-time classic and the type of match this tournament was created for.
2nd fall: Hackenschmidt wins with waistlock suplex. Jonathan stayed on top but Hack proved his toughness and wore the bigger man down.
3rd fall: DLJ wins with Mormon Swing. Back and forth they went until Jonathan landed his finisher again (DLJ 5 coins, Hackenschmidt 5 coins).
GREG VALENTINE def. BRENT ALBRIGHT, 2-1

1st fall: Albright wins with the Crowbar. The Hammer never got things going as three times with the Crowbar move ended the first fall.
2nd fall: Valentine wins with the Hammer. Valentine fought hard and battered Albright down for a pin.
3rd fall: Valentine wins with piledrive. Valentine and Albright went right at it before the figure four and a piledriver downed Albright.
BOB ROOP def. FRANK GOTCH, 2-0

1st fall: Roop wins with shoulderbreaker. Roop never let up on Gotch until winning the first fall.
2nd fall: Roop wins with shoulderbreaker. A long fall but Gotch couldn't keep Roop down and lost in straight falls.
CHRIS HERO def. DANNY HODGE, 2-0

1st fall: Hero wins with Hero Welcome. Hodge never got started as Hero dominated (Hodge 5 coins).
2nd fall: Hero wins by countout. This time Hodge lost when Hero dove to the floor and got the countout.

ANTONIO INOKI def. ED LEWIS, 2-0

1st fall: Inoki wins with enzuigiri. It was all Inoki, Lewis could only try to fend him off (Lewis 5 coins).
2nd fall: Inoki wins with enzuigiri. More of the same with Lewis nearly spent Inoki had no trouble finishing him off.
YUKON ERIC def. STEVE WILLIAMS, 2-1

1st fall: Y. Eric wins with Kodiac Krunch. It was all Dr. Death but he made one mistake, got hit off the ropes and Eric beat him with the Kodiac Krunch.
2nd fall: Williams with with bear hug. Dr. Death stayed on top and wore Eric down.
3rd fall: Y. Eric wins with Kodiac Krunch. An even match at this point and Eric pulls out the big win.
LES THATCHER def. BRYAN DANIELSON, 2-0

1st fall: Thatcher wins with Stump Puller. Danielson let one slip away as he domiated Thatcher but never got his finisher applied. Thatcher somehow fought back and took the first fall (Thatcher 5 coins, Danielson 4 coins).
2nd fall: Thatcher wins off the top. Back and forth with chances to win for both men. Thatcher came off the top to score the three count.
ROB VAN DAM def. BUDDY ROGERS, 2-1

1st fall: Rogers win by disqualification. Rogers really hammered RVD the whole match but was by d.q. after Van Dam used the chair for the Van Daminator.
2nd fall: RVD wins with Frog Splash. Twice RVD landed the big splash.
3rd fall: RVD wins with Frog Splash. Back and forth with Rogers getting the figure four applied. RVD takes the win with the Frog Splash.
DAN SEVERN def. HARLEY RACE, 2-0

1st fall: Severn wins with heel hook. The Beast dominated Race but the fall went a long time (Race 7 coins).
2nd fall: Severn wins with Wakigatame. Race couldn't hold off Severn any longer and he easily won the match.
JOHN PESEK def. ILIO DIPAOLO, 2-1

1st fall: Pesek wins with Toehold. Pesek stayed on top with a double wristlock then the toehold submission.
2nd fall: DiPaolo wins with headlock takeover. DiPaolo stayed alive after the airplane spin and turnbuckle takeover.
3rd fall: Pesek wins with waistlock slam. Pesek stayed on top the rest of the way.
CURT HENNIG def. DESTROYER, 2-0

1st fall: Hennig wins with Hennig Plex. The match was real even but Hennig asserted himself and took the fall.
2nd fall: Hennig wins with Hennig Plex. Destroyer showed some life but Hennig was on a mission and won with his finisher again.
NICK BOCKWINKEL def. TERRIBLE TURK, 2-0

1st fall: Bockwinkel wins with Sleeper. The Turk proved to be a tough opponent but Bockwinkel was methodical and kept working him over until beating him with the sleeper.
2nd fall: Bockwinkel wins with Sleeper. More of the same as the Turk battled but Bockwinkel went back to his two finishers to take the match.
