Missing Link def. Boris Zhukov

After some back and forth action, the Link stopped Costello in his tracks with a move off the ropes. Zhukov landed the headbutt for the pin. An all-out hardcore match then ensued. The Link battered Boris with chairs and headbutts for the win.

D'Lo Brown & One Man Gang def. J.D. Michaels & Frank Gotch
One Man Gang def. D'Lo Brown

This one saw one wrestler from each of the four major companies. Solid action all around that ended when D'Lo forced Michaels to give it up. The Gang and D'Lo turned in a very good singles contest. The Gang landed the 747 Splash to end this one.

George Steele & Fritz Von Goering def. Justin Credible & Adam Pearce
Fritz Von Goering def. George Steele

Things looked good for ECW tag team champion Pearce and Credible. The match degenerated into a brawl, then Von Goering used his backbreaker. The Animal's knee and headbutt finished off Pearce. Steele and Von Goering went back and forth until Fritz took over and a pair of backbreakers ended it.

Dan Severn & Bob Orton Jr. def. Ox Baker & Eddie Kingston
Bob Orton Jr. def. Dan Severn

WWC Universal champion Ox Baker's run on wins came to an end. Baker and Severn were stiff with the shots and fighting on the floor. Orton Jr. came in with Kingston down and superplexed him for the win. Ox Baker made Kingston pay for losing the match and beat on him all the way to the back. Severn and Orton went at it until Orton capitalized quickly to hit the superplex for the win.

Tom Prichard & John Pesek def. Larry Zbyszko & Geeto Mongol
John Pesek def. Tom Prichard

Heenan Family member Larry Zbyszko looked good, and Geeto played his part by dishing out some punishment before tagging out again. Pesek also was on top of his game and went to work on Zbyszko with finisher after finisher until getting the submission. Pesek then completely killed Prichard (5 coins).

Rikidozan & Bob Orton Sr. def. Red Bastien & French Angel
Bob Orton Sr. def. Rikidozan

Another really good tag match. Bastien showcased all his talents but went down to the mighty chops of Rikidozan. Then Orton Sr. was a machine and relentless with his offense. Rikidozan stayed alive but Orton pulled off the upset win with the piledriver.

Dennis Condrey & Curt Hennig def. Destroyer & Buff Bagwell
Curt Hennig def. Dennis Condrey

The U.S. champ Destroyer joined up with World TV champion Buff Bagwell against the former U.S. title holder Curt Hennig and one-half of the Midnight Express Dennis Condrey. Hennig did almost all of the work against their opponents. After keeping the Destroyer down he took out Bagwell with a sleeper. Hennig continued his attack on Condrey and won with a dropkick.

Bob Roop & Trent Acid def. Jimmy Snuka & Drake Younger
Bob Roop def. Trent Acid

Roop and Acid worked great together and were able to concentrate on Younger. They dished it out and Younger took it all before falling to a Blue Thunder Bomb from Acid. Roop dominated Acid and won with a gut wrench backbreaker.

Konnan & Mike Quackenbush def. Nigel McGuinness & Gorgeous George
Mike Quackenbush def. Konnan

Real nice action all around here. Quackenbush's Quackendriver was all it took to put Gorgeous George down for three. Quack and Konnan went at it and a palm strike gave Quackenbush the big win to stay alive.

Masked Superstar II & Brutus Beefcake def. Hillbilly Jim & Koko B. Ware
Masked Superstar II def. Brutus Beefcake

The big masked man and Hillbilly Jim went right at each other as they are familiar from matches in ICW. Masked Superstar II took care of Koko B. Ware with a backbreaker. Beefcake gave the big man a real good fight but couldn't continue after the backbreaker.

Scotty Vortekz & Necro Butcher def. Paul London & Ricky Landell
Scotty Vortekz def. Necro Butcher

The team of Landell and London looked good on paper. In this one Landell never made a tag and was totally beaten down by Necro Butcher. Vortekz and Necro turned in a stellar contest and it was Vortekz pulling out the win with a cyclone kick.

Chris Candido & Nick Bockwinkel def. Al Snow & Brian Kendrick
Nick Bockwinkel def. Chris Candido

Bockwinkel was in the match a long time and did not fair very well. Candido picked things up and downed Kendrick with the Blond Bomb. Candido then hung right with Bockwinkel but went down to the sleeper.

Greg Valentine & Antonio Inoki def. Mountie & Mil Mascaras
Greg Valentien def. Antonio Inoki

World champion Mil Mascaras didn't like his partner, but the Mountie was there to watch his back during the match. Mascaras was in all sorts of trouble but held on. Inoki nailed the Mountie with an enzuigiri for the pin. From there the Hammer and Inoki tore the place down with an awesome match. It was Lou Albano on the outside that helped Valentine be able to get the figure four applied to pull off the win.

Road Dogg & Jimmy Jacobs def. Johnny Valentine & Ilio DiPaolo
Jimmy Jacobs def. Road Dogg

Jacobs and one-half of the I-C tag champs worked well as a team. It took a long time to win the tag portion of the bout. Jacobs was covered in blood and made DiPaolo look the same after using the spike for the pin. Jacobs and the Road Dogg then went at it and Jacobs emerged the winner after the End Time.

Stan Lane & Brad Armstrong def. Jimmy Valiant & Hawk
Stan Lane def. Brad Armstrong

Lane and Armstrong made a pretty nice looking team. Hawk dominated when he was in the ring. Lane nailed Valiant with the Superkick. Lane used the Midnight Lariat and then the Superkick to beat Armstrong.

Bryan Danielson & Billy Red Lyons def. Sheik & Andre the Giant
Billy Red Lyons def. Bryan Danielson

This may have been the best match of the tournament so far. The Sheik and Andre grudgingly got along enough to compete, while Lyons and Danielson were non-stop motion and controlled most of the bout. The Giant spent time down but not out, as did the Sheik. Lyons finally beat the Sheik with the Figure Four. The Sheik and Andre fought each other to the back. Then Lyons and Danielson went all out to stay alive. Danielson showed incredible toughness but went down to the sleeper (Danielson 6 coins).

This match blew away everything seen so far in the tournament. Fans would have been content to go home after one match. The Butcher and Tyler Black were all business and were great as a team. Animal and Rogers found themselves in one hell of a fight. Rogers and Animal overcame so many close calls and it was the Nature Boy beating Black with the Figure Four. Then, these went to work on each other. It was back and forth again with a plethora of near falls. Rogers survived the powerslam over and over but current tag team champion Animal never stopped and finally put away the Nature Boy with another devastating powerslam. (Rogers 7 coins)

Don Leo Jonathan def. Larry Hennig

Tag team partners Race and Hennig smiled at each other from across the ring. I-C champ Don Leo Jonathan was a force all during the match and put away Page with a giant swing. The Axe stood toe to toe with Jonathan but eventually went down after an atomic drop.

Mad Dog Vachon & Don Muraco def. Giant Baba & Terry Gordy
Mad Dog Vachon def. Don Muraco

Yet another off the chart unbelievable tag team match. Mad Dog and Muraco looked awesome as a team, battering Baba for a long time. Gordy got the tag and destroyed both men but the match kept going. A ton of fighting on the outside before Muraco beat Baba with the Hawaiian Hammer (Baba & Gordy 4 coins each). Mad Dog put Muraco down with the piledriver.

Tiger Mask & Antonino Rocca def. Steve Corino & Crusher
Antonino Rocca def. Tiger Mask

Crazy action all around in this one. Corino and Crusher took the fight at the light-heavies on the floor. Tiger Mask came back for the win wiht a piledriver on Corino. The fans were hypnotised by the moves between Rocca and Tiger Mask. Rocca got his finisher on for the win (Tiger Mask 6 coins).

Larry Sharpe brought his men the Link and the Gang to the ring against another tough looking combination. The teams went back and forth until the Gang splashed Von Goering in the corner. The Link and the Gang went to work after that. The Link exploded with a series of head butts and chair shots to get the pin.

Bob Roop def. Curt Hennig

Four great wrestlers in this match and they showed why they hold that distinction. The bout was dead even when Roop beat Pesek with a shoulderbreaker. Then Roop stopped Hennig with a gutwrench backbreaker and scored the pinfall.

Scotty Vortekz & Nick Bockwinkel def. Mike Quackenbush & Masked Superstar II

A lot of nice action as Bock and Vortekz struggled for awhile in handling the big man. Bockwinkel beat Quackenbush with the sleeper, then easily got rid of Vortekz.

Greg Valentine & Jimmy Jacobs def. Stan Lane & Billy Red Lyons
Greg Valentine def. Jimmy Jacobs

Jacobs got to use his spike again, taking Lane out of the match. The Hammer put the figure four on Lyons, and then beat Jacobs with the same move.

Mad Dog Vachon def. Antonino Rocca

Interesting matchups in this one with world tag champ Animal and the I-C champion Jonathan. DLJ was down a long time but stayed alive. Mad Dog beat Animal with a piledriver, then did the same to Rocca to reach the final.

SEMIFINALS

Missing Link & Bob Roop vs. Nick Bockwinkel & Greg Valentine
Bob Roop def. Missing Link

Bockwinkel never got into the match. The Hammer was isolated and the Link came in with a flurry of forearms and pummeled Valentine down for the three count. Bockwinkel and Valentine jawed at each other to the back and almost went at each other. Roop went down in a hurry as the Link was out of control with the steel chair and his flying headbutts. Link missed a dive from the top and Roop used the gutwrench backbreaker twice to score the pin (Roop 6 coins).

NON-TOURNAMENT MATCHES

Jim Londos & Ray Stevens def. Samoan Island Tribe

U.S. tag champ Londos and former World TV champion Ray Stevens were each partners with one of the Samoans and weren't happy with that. They went to work and without much trouble Stevens came off the top to pin Alofa.

King Kong Bundy def. Delirious

In the tag match these two teamed up but Bundy never got in the ring. Delirious was counted out. Bundy put a hurting on Delirious but the masked former World Jr. champion put up a fight before going down to the Avalanche.

Ox Baker def. Eddie Kingston

WWC Universal champion Ox Baker made Kingston pay after he lost their tag team match. This one was a good slugfest. Kingston took the Heart Punch but later after fighting outside Baker won with a knee drop.

Justin Credible def. Adam Pearce

ECW tag champ Pearce and Credible didn't get past George Steele and Fritz Von Goering in the tournament. This match was a good one with Credible looking toward a possible title match back in ECW. Credible used the singapore cane a couple times to pick up the win.

Heavenly Bodies def. Tyler Black & Jimmy Jacobs

In the second round Jacobs used the spike on Sweet Stan Lane. A lot of great action in the match and Lane got a measure of revenge when he pinned Jacobs.

Ivan Koloff def. Bobo Brazil

Bobo Brazil took control and handed a beating to Koloff but never used the head butt. Koloff busted Brazil open with the chain and came away with a win. Nikolai Volkoff and Boris Zhukov joined him in a triple team attack on the helpless Brazil. Magnum T.A. ran in to make the save but was followed immediately by the Iron Sheik and the bell rang.

Magnum ended this match without much trouble using the Belly to Belly suplex. Ivan Koloff came back out to pay Magnum back for interfering earlier.

Destroyer def. Buff Bagwell

U.S. champ Destroyer and World TV champion Bagwell were unable to get out of the first round together and this non-title match was signed. Bagwell put up a good fight but the Destroyer was too much with the suplex, figure four, boston crab and sleeper holds.

Andre the Giant def. The Sheik

These two couldn't function as a tag team and lost in the first round then brawled to the back. The Giant came out and showed what an awesome force he truly is, destroying the Sheik. The wildman is tough though and took a massive amount of punishment (7 coins). Andre was on a mission to make the Sheik pay and he did.

LETHAL LOTTERY FINAL

Mad Dog Vachon def. Bob Roop

From 128 wrestlers down to two. Two hard-nosed, tough as nails grapplers went to work on each other. Mad Dog finally took the win with a pair of Piledrivers to win the Lethal Lottery.

The Ultimate Wrestling Federation is celebrating its first birthday in the month of February. It was this time last year the first ever UWF event, The Champions Cup, took place.

Once again 16 of the greatest champions in wrestling history will take part in The Champions Cup on Feb. 14, 2119 in Louisville, KY. Every man to ever hold the World heavyweight championship will be in the tournament.

The second annual Champions Cup will have a slightly different format this year. A 16-man battle royal will take place with the order wrestlers are eliminated determining the tag team combinations and the first round matches. The eight men from the four winning teams will move on to a single elimination tournament, with first round matches being randomly determined. The winner will take the Champions Cup.

This year the Champions Cup added another match or round to the day's festivities as a 16-man battle royal will open things up. The order or elimination will determine the tag team pairings and the matches for the following round of the tournament. The UWF officials made a last minute change and put Antonino Rocca into the competition and removed Ox Baker.

The bell rang and the Hammer went up against Bobo. Bockwinkel put the sleeper on the Nature Boy while Race took on the Iron Sheik. Rude was going at it with the Superly. Baba moved over to stop Snuka from going out but Rude was able to reverse and send both men over the top rope.

Kowalski took on Hackenschmidt as Johnny Valentine nailed the Destroyer with an Atomic Skullcrusher. Mascaras and Masked Superstar battled it out as these two traded the world title a couple years ago. Kowalski came up from behind and sent Mascaras out to the floor.

Greg Valentine teamed up with Bockwinkel to beat down Bobo Brazil. Race and Rogers, the only current tag team in the ring together, worked on the Iron Sheik. Rocca fought with Rude. Johnny Valentine hit his finisher again on the Destroyer then leaped over to nail his move on Hackenschmidt and put him out of the ring.

Kowalski then dumped out the Masked Superstar.

The Hammer and Bockwinkel were all over Bobo Brazil and had him in real bad shape. Race fought with the Iron Sheik then Rogers moved in and dumped the Iranian.

The Destroyer ran over and saved Rude from being eliminated by Rocca for some unknown reason. Rude then tried to toss out the Destroyer and Rocca hit both men and sent the two to the outside and they will have to be tag team partners after all of that.

Johnny Valentine got rid of Kowalski.

Bobo Brazil made a valiant comeback against the Hammer and Bockwinkel. The Nature Boy came over to take on Greg Valentine. Race went up against Rocca, the Rocca went after Johnny Valentine. Bockwinkel finally finished off Bobo with the sleeper (Bobo 6 coins).

Johnny Valentine eliminated Rocca.

Race and Bockwinkel renewed their old rivalry while Greg Valentine fought the Nature Boy. Johnny Valentine saved his boy Greg, but Rogers turned the table and eliminated the father and son team.

Race and Rogers double teamed Bockwinkel, the man who won the Royal Rumble only a couple weeks ago, and they were eventually able to throw him out of the ring. Race and Rogers stood together in the ring victorious and this undefeated tag team will stay together in the opening round of the tournament.

JIMMY SNUKA & GIANT BABA def. MIL MASCARAS & GEORGE HACKENSCHMIDT

An impressive matchup with Mascaras the current world champion and three other former title holders all gathered together. Snuka and Mascaras were the world six-man tag champs along with Bobo Brazil.

Snuka and Baba were in top form and dominated the entire way. Mascaras made one tag and Hackenschmidt had very little offense, fighting off both opponents. Snuka and Baba tagged in and out and it was the Superfly putting Hackenschmidt away after several chops off the ropes.

MASKED SUPERSTAR & IRON SHEIK def. DESTROYER & RICK RUDE

Rude and the Destroyer clearly were not going to get along and didn't like being partners. The Destroyer started against the Iron Sheik and set him up for Rude, who demanded a tag. Rude couldn't capitalize and the Iron Sheik suplexed him. Masked Superstar put on the cobra and then a spinning neckbreaker beat Rude in the middle of the ring. The Destroyer and Rude argued and then started fighting to the back

JOHNNY VALENTINE & ANTONINO ROCCA def. BOBO BRAZIL & KILLER KOWALSKI

Another match with reluctant partners as Kowalski and Bobo are in on way shape or form friends. Bobo, the U.S. champ, and Kowalski, the I-C champ, after awhile were able to make a tag or two. Back at Halloween Havoc it was Kowalski beating Valentine for his first I-C title. Rocca and Valentine were the aggressors though and had things going their way most of the time. Bobo took the fall though after spending most of the match time in the ring. Kowalski attacked Bobo after the match but was quickly run off by Valentine and Rocca.

HARLEY RACE & BUDDY ROGERS def. NICK BOCKWINKEL & GREG VALENTINE

Last year it was the Hammer and the Nature Boy that were drawn as tag team partners. Also a year ago Bockwinkel beat Rogers in the first round of the final singles tournament to determine the Champions Cup winner. The Hammer upset Bockwinkel to win the 2118 Champions Cup.

There would be no repeat winner. Race and Rogers have proven to be a great team. Valentine and Bockwinkel did little against them and Rogers beat Valentine after a series of moves.

A spectacular match between Rocca, the new WWC Universal champion, and the Iron Sheik. These two have gone at it in both Puerto Rico and Mexico as the Iron Sheik is part of Konnan's Foreign Legion.

This was an awesome match with both men very nearly winning it. The Iron Sheik withstood the Argentinian Backbreaker for a long time and battled back. The Camel Clutch put Rocca away.

HARLEY RACE def. BUDDY ROGERS

The fans were treated to another amazing match between two of the greats in this sport. They have already had quite a feud in the USWA which prompted them to team up. They haven't lost in tag team action yet, are embroiled in a feud with the Road Warriors, and right in line for a world tag team title match. How would the partners handle this match?

What they did was go all out for a win. Two men going one on one to once again see who is the best. Race eventually began to wear Rogers down and won with the piledriver. Race helped his partner up and the two shook hands and hugged much to the delight of the crowd (Rogers 4 coins).

JOHNNY VALENTINE def. MASKED SUPERSTAR

Johnny Valentine seemed like he was on a mission to get rid of the Masked Superstar and make it to the next round. The masked big man didn't have much in the way of offense, trying to run away to the floor most of the time. Valentine hit his atomic skullcrusher several times for the win. Then out from the back came Masked Superstar II and the two men worked over Valentine until his son the Hammer ran down to even the odds and the crowd exploded to see the father-son team back together.

All it took was one mistake and the match was over. Snuka took a big boot to the face as he charged into the corner. Baba leveled him with the neckbreaker drop for the three count.

Another amazing match by Race. The Iron Sheik took a major beating but kept fighting back over and over, kicking out of the piledriver on multiple occasions. The Iron Sheik couldn't slow Race down enough though and one more piledriver ended his night (Iron Sheik 4 coins).

Another spectacular match between two of the best in the business. They tore into one another with every big move they have. Valentine started to take charge and another Atomic Skullcrusher put Baba down for the three count.

The fans were totally behing the champs as Ted DiBiase is probably the most hated man in wrestling at this time. His team did have Andre down and in all kinds of trouble after breaking up the pin following his huge splash on Roop. DiBiase got his Million Dollar Dream applied for a long time but the Giant stayed on his feet. The Road Warriors turned the match back in their favor and won with the Doomsday Device on Roop (Andre 6 coins.

CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT FINAL

A true all-time great match in the history of the NWA. These two wrestled nearly 45 minutes after suriving the grueling competition to reach the final match. Neither hesitated to go outside and fight either. One time the referee was knocked down in the corner, but was there to make a two-count when Race rolled Valentine up from behind. The Champions Cup was amazing. What a field of talent and the finals between Race and Valentine sounded like a great match. Race is hard to beat and it showed here as he stood tall at the end. I really like the pairing of the Road Warriors and Andre the Giant, an almost unbeatable team though it looked like Andre nearly went out courtesy of Dibiase.

The UWF is busy working on its next major event -- the 2nd annual Family Feud!!! Last year this tournament featued 16 men, relations like father/son, brothers, uncle/nephew, in a round robin tournament. In the end it was Johnny Valentine beating Ted DiBiase.

VACHONS def. DIBIASES

The Million $ Man was not happy with his father. Iron Mike was in the ring the whole time. He had things going well against the Butcher. Mad Dog came in and an airplane spin ended the match. Ted DiBiase jawed with his dad after the match.

THE AXE ATTACK def. BRISCOES

A great match as the Briscoes very nearly defeated the U.S. tag team champions. They really controlled the match with high-impact moves. Larry Hennig absorbed the bulk of the punishment. Curt Hennig finally got in the ring again and Perfect Plexed Mark Briscoe for the pin.

ARMSTRONGS def. ORTONS

A great matchup here with Orton Jr. taking a big-time beating. Orton Sr., coming off his hardcore title win over Bruiser Brody in Puerto Rico, made the save. The Armstrongs double teamed Jr. for another nearfall. Orton Sr. came back in and Bob Armstrong put him out with the sleeper hold (Orton Jr. 5 coins).

SHEIK & SABU def. HILLBILLIES

Sabu opened it up by battering Hillbilly Jim. The Sheik kept it up, using his trusty foreign object. Jim made the tag after stopping the Sheik with a boot in the corner. Cousin Luke briefly had the momentum but missed off the top rope. Sabu put on the Camel Clutch for the win.

LOVE BROTHERS def. YOUNG BUCKS

A real short one here. A double team elbow put Nick Jackson down. Hartford with the Neckbreaker put him away.

VALENTINES def. VALIANTS

A great battle here. The Hammer took a huge beating from both opponents but stayed alive. Johnny broke up one pin attempt then took the fight at Johnny and Jimmy. He took on both men for a long time. Greg Valentine came in to piledrive Jimmy and score the pinfall.
