*-Watching The Best Of Saturday Nights Main Event DVD as I'm anticipating one of the BIGGEST Legends Edition releases... might as well roll some dice and post some results!
NWA Titan
In Your House Supercard - Madison Square Garden, New York
The opening match was a 6 Woman Tag Match... Mae Young, April Hunter, & Mercedez Martinez defeated Trish Stratus, Melina, & Lufisto via disqualification. Great match but ended quickly when the action went outside. Lufisto waffled April Hunter with a chair outside the ring.
Masked Superstar beat Cowboy Scott Casey with a flying cross chop
After the match the Camera Man spots "Wildfire" Tommy Rich sitting ringside looking like he is enjoying the show thus far...
Greg Valentine beat Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake with the FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK
This never ending rivalry is still hot across the NWA. This was a back and forth battle until Beefcake misses a turnbuckle charge and Valentine capitalizes. After the victory Valentine refuses to release the figure four and Beefcake is clearly in extreme pain... suddenly Tommy Rich stands up and hops the guardrail and the crowd pops huge! Rich slides in the ring and Valentine quickly releases the figure four and backs into the corner as Rich helps Beefcake to his feet. Rich then shocks EVERYONE when he piledrives Beefcake!!! Rich then beating a downed Beefcake! Rich and Valentine then begin laughing and give one another a hug! Valentine and Rich then give Beefcake a spiked piledriver! Rich then grabs Beefcake's bag and the clippers! Valentine puts Beefcakes hair in a big ponytail and Rich cuts it off!!! Finally security and wrestlers from the locker room storm the ring as Rich and Valentine escape with Beefcake's hair!
Iron Sheik & Nikolai Volkoff defeat Sgt. Slaughter and Hacksaw Duggan when Duggan submits to the Camel Clutch.
After the match Sheik tries to injure Duggan but Sgt SLaughter grabs Duggan's 2x4 and breaks it over Sheik's head!!! Volkoff flees as Sheik lay motionless in the ring!
Sheik was carried out on a stretcher before the next match could begin.
Lou Albano, Bruiser Costa, & Sinn Bodhi beat Blue World Order in a 6 Man No Holds Barred Brawl when Super Nova submits to Costa's CLAW
Womens Title Tournament Final
Wendi Richter defeated Bertha Faye via WIDOW MAKER to win the title
Macho Man Randy Savage beat King Kong Bundy (with Bobby Heenan) via DQ
Savage's war with the Heenan Family show no sign of stopping anytime soon. Savage had the match won until The Brain handed Bundy a foriegn object. Bundy made good use of the foriegn object and bloodied the Macho Man. Savage began to rally a comeback until the match went outside and Bundy slammed Savage through the timekeeper's table.
Titan Tag Team Title Tournament Final
The Quebecers defeated The Fantastics via the TOWER OF QUEBEC on Rogers
Titan Title Match
Lou Thesz(c) beat Mr Perfect Curt Hennig (with Bobby Heenan) via DQ
Hennig kept a good pace with the champ but even injured Thesz is a wrestling machine and had a counter for everything Perfect had to offer. Thesz hit the GRECO-ROMAN BACKDROP and the entire Heenan Family hits the ring and assualts the champ! With Savage out for the night Heenan's men once again leave Thesz in a heap.
NWA World Title Match
Nature Boy Buddy Rogers(c) defeats Bobo Brazil in a 5 star classic with the FIGURE FOUR GRAPEVINE
These two legends can put on one hell of a match. Each man had alot of offense and counters. Brazil came very close to dethroning the Nature Boy more than once in this match but in the end Rogers manages to hang on and eventually get a counter that lead to trapping Brazil in the Figure Four to retain in a very hard fought victory.
