Hey Guys,
Wow. It's been a long time. I actually have sets going back to the '87 edition, which I ordered from PWI way back when. I've played off and on for years, but looking at Filsinger Games website recently got me inspired, so here I am.
So I'm gonna' throw out a few questions, bear with me. Firstly, how does one go about starting a GWF fed? Keep in mind I also have the 2074, 2079, and 2086 classic sets. The thing with those sets is I've always wracked my brain how to incorporate the three sets prior to '87 in a way that was satisfying. So there's that.
Secondly, some years back I picked up the 2019 New Beginnings set for my boys (they no longer watch wrestling, so it's mine now), and I've also thought about doing that.
On top of that, I have quite a number of LOW black and white sets, and I can't make up my mind what to do with that.
Regardless, it's great to be back, and from everything I've seen this is a really nice group of people.
Oh, one more thing: what's everyone think of the Chikara sets? I know the fed went down the drain in real life, but the concept was kind of fun.
Nice to be here, guys.
Matt

I don't think that you can go wrong choosing 2087, 2119, LOW or CHIKARA. All those sets are a ton of fun to play out. If you do choose 2087, you could do "from the vault" matches with the older cards, showcasing classic matches from the past. Happy Promoting!

Welcome back Matt! I too have recently returned after being out of the loop for a few years. Sounds like you have many options to jump back in. 2119 is a great starting point and will get you closer to being to current canon. If you want to relive the old days you could start with 2087 (either the original version or the re-imagined version in full color and new art).
I chose to wipe the slate clean and go the re-imagined 2087 along with LOW.
Other great options are Future Shock: Centra Wrestling Federation and the new Battlelines set. (Either set will give you mixes of new characters and Alternate Universe versions of classic characters from the GWF's past.)
There is no wrong way to jump back in... as Tom always says "It's up to you, Promoter!"
You're bound to have fun any route you choose!

Welcome back! I don't play anything COTG related so I might not be of much help there. I do run a fed that is combined LOW and indy wrestling. I just use the wrestlers that I want from the various LOW and indy sets. I guess my advice would just be to try running something that feels the most interesting to you at this time. There's no reason you can't change your mind in the future.
