NORTH AMERICAN TAG TEAM TITLE TOURNAMENT ROUND ONE

JIM DUGGAN & CRUSHER def. DON MURACO & BOB ROOP

An absolute match of the year candidate. The 20 minute time limit was barely beat before the match ended. Four men battering each other non stop is what this match was. With all four in the ring Duggan's flying speak caught Muraco for the three count (Duggan/Crusher 8 coins, Muraco/Roop 7 coins).

MONGOLS def. VACHONS

Another very good match that was mostly a brawl. A lot of action on the outside. Geeto chopped Mad Dog in the throat to score the pin. The Mongols left the Vachons laying in the ring after the match with the chain.

NEW AGE OUTLAWS def. BRISCOES

On to a pair of tag team specialists and the Briscoes (ECW tag team champions) nearly made the most of their opportunity. The had the Outlaws on the run and in trouble, but the match turned around and went back and forth. Billy Gunn scored the pin on Jay Briscoe.

PEPPER GOMEZ & ILIO DIPAOLO def. KILLER BEES

Another good tag team contest that went back and forth. The Bees just stayed in the double teaming DiPaolo but he stayed alive. The Mexican Leap two times in a row by Gomez put away Brunzell.

NORTH AMERICAN HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE TOURNAMENT QUARTERFINALS

THE SHEIK def. CHRIS HERO

Another great match as ECW and U.S. champion Chris Hero had a great game plan and probably feels like he should have won. The Sheik couldn't slow Hero down. The Sheik did turn the match around and used the Fireball but Hero kicked out. Things really broke down with the Grand Wizard and Larry Sweeney getting involved. Hero missed off the top rope and the Sheik scored the pinfall.

TED DIBIASE def. THE IRON SHEIK

It was all boos from the fans as they didn't like either one of these guys. The Iron Sheik hurt the Million $ Man with his loaded boot. The fight went in and out of the ring. DiBiase was able to go to the sleeper to eventually put the Iron Sheik away.

BOB ORTON SR. def. IVAN KOLOFF

Another tremendous win for the Universal and Hardcore champion. Orton is on a roll like Ox Baker was for a few months as he beat Bruiser Brody for the hardcore title. These two just slugged it out back and forth. Orton Sr. took charge and grabbed another big-time win.

KONNAN def. DALLAS PAGE

These turned turned in another great match as they have been battling out for months in Puerto Rico. Twice the MWE heavyweight champion Page landed the Diamond Cutter while Konnan was in charge but the leader of the Foreign Legion kicked out. They went back and forth until Konnan took the pin to make the final four consist of all heels.

NORTH AMERICAN TAG TEAM TITLE TOURNAMENT QUARTERFINALS

THE AXE ATTACK def. JIM DUGGAN & CRUSHER

That opening bout took a lot out of Duggan and the Crusher. Still they put up a good fight. The Crusher took the brunt and stayed alive. Curt Henning used the Axe to get the three count.

MASKED SUPERSTAR I & II def. MONGOLS

A great back and forth match between two rule-breaking teams. A lot of fighting on the floor and a very even contest. Masked Superstar worked hard to put Geeto away with a spinning neckbreaker.

MIDNIGHT EXPRESS def. PEPPER GOMEZ & ILIO DIPAOLO

The Midnight Express won the MWE tag team title tournament by coming out of the loser's bracket. They went right to work on Gomez, never letting him tag. Jim Cornette interferred and Gomez tried to get his hands on him. Dennis Condrey nailed him from behing and grabbed the pin.

HARLEY RACE & BUDDY ROGERS def. NEW AGE OUTLAWS

For the second time in a week Race and Rogers beat the New Age Outlaws. This was another even, back and forth contest. A headbutt by Race finally finished off the Road Dogg.

NORTH AMERICAN TAG TEAM TITLE TOURNAMENT SEMIFINALS[/U]

THE AXE ATTACK def. MASKED SUPERSTAR I & II

These teams have been battling it out over the U.S. tag team titles for the past month or so. Larry Hennig turned the tide of the match against Masked Superstar. Curt Hennig came in and didn't take long before locking in the Perfect Plex for the three count.

HARLEY RACE & BUDDY ROGERS def. MIDNIGHT EXPRESS

Race and Rogers brought the WWC North American title belts and the U.S. tag team straps with them to the ring. Jim Cornette's men carried the Mexican tag team belts with them. The Midnight Express made lots of tags but did little damage. Briefly they had Rogers down for a near fall but Race got the tag and put Condrey down with repeated neckbreakers.

NORTH AMERICAN HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT SEMIFINALS[/u]

TED DIBIASE def. THE SHEIK

The crowd doesn't like either man but the Sheik is hated beyond belief in Puerto Rico. Both men shed blood in this one as the Million $ Man survived a massacre to reach the final. The Sheik tried and tried to throw the fire but DiBiase was a step ahead every time. The Sheik wouldn't go down to the Million $ Dream but a long, brutal, grueling match DiBiase won with the sleeper. The crowd exploded when Bobo Brazil stormed in after the bell rang and attack the fallen Sheik.

BOB ORTON SR. def. KONNAN

Bob Orton Sr. continues an amazing, historic run. He beat Bruiser Brody for the Carribean Hardcore title and beat Ivan Koloff for the WWC Universal championship. Now he is in the championship for the North American title after a piledriver put Konnan away.

YUKON ERIC & BRODIE LEE def. MONGOLS

A pretty nice win over the former North American tag team champions. The Mongols were on the defensive all the way except when Sir Oliver Humperdink smashed the cane into Yukon Eric's throat. They couldn't take advantage and Lee put the big boot on Geeto, then it was Yukon Eric finishing him off.

SANDMAN def. DRAKE YOUNGER

The Sandman ran right thru Younger. A couple DDTs and the cane finally put Younger down for good.

OX BAKER def. BOB ARMSTRONG

A real good brawl as Bullet Bob kept up with Baker on the floor. Armstrong kicked out of the heart punch but Baker held onto the advantage and another neckbreaker ended his evening.

PEPPER GOMEZ & ILIO DIPAOLO def. JIM DUGGAN & CRUSHER

A great win and the crowd was behind both teams. All out back and forth action. All four were down at one time or another but the match kept going. Gomez scored the pin on Duggan after a punch to the gut.

ANTONINO ROCCA def. TERRIBLE TURK

Argentina Rocca picks up a tough win over the Sheik's number one henchmen. A great battle in and out of the ring. Rocca caught a dropkick to get the three count. The Sheik and Bobo Brazil came back into the stadium, blood pouring from both men. Rocca and the Turk then got wrapped up in the melee.

VACHONS def. ARIK CANNON & NECRO BUTCHER

The Vachons were just too much to handle in this one. The Vachons systematically took Cannon apart before taking the pinfall.

BRUISER BRODY def. KING KONG BUNDY

Brody showed his awesome power by throwing Bundy around the ring. He hit every big move he has before scoring the pin on Bundy.

TRIPLE THREAT MATCH[/u]
IVAN KOLOFF def. IRON SHEIK and DALLAS PAGE

Dallas Page was lucky in that his opponents didn't team up against him, they preferred to fight it out every man for himself. With Page down, Koloff put the Iron Sheik in a bear hug until he passed out.

NORTH AMERICAN HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT FINAL[/u]
BOB ORTON SR. def. TED DIBIASE

An amazing win for Orton Sr. Maybe DiBiase was beaten before the bell rang after his match with the Sheik. Either way, Orton Sr. would not be denied and controlled the bout inside and out of the ring. A piledriver ended DiBiase's shot at gold. Bob Orton Jr. was there to celebrate with his dad.

HARLEY RACE & BUDDY ROGERS def. THE AXE ATTACK

Another all-time classic match between these teams. Race and Rogers took the U.S. tag team titles from the Hennigs on USWA Glory. They controlled the majority of this match but the Hennigs are not easy to put away. The Axe kept saving Curt Hennig until he got the tag and exploded on Rogers. All four men were in the ring and Rogers covered Larry Hennig and a hand full of tights brought the North American tag team titles to Race and the Nature Boy.

Tonight there will be qualifying matches for both the WWC tag team title tournament and the WWC Universale Hardcore championship tournament.

WWC Tag Team Tournament Qualifying Matches

WWC Universal Hardcore Tournament Qualifying Matches

War Machine def. Lord Zoltan & The Missing Link

The fans loved the team of Lord Zoltan and the Missing Link. The decided underdogs against the huge team of Hanson and Rowe were on fire and didn't back down. Zoltan and the Link pummeled both members of War Machine. Chairs and various other weapons were used in and out of the ring. War Machine didn't get a lot of offense going but did enough damage and Hanson came off the top rope to crush Lord Zoltan for the pin. (Rowe 4 coins, Hanson 2 coins)

Doug Gilbert def. Rex Havoc

Singles qualifying opened with a reall good fight. Rex Havoc battled back for a long time but it was Doug Gilbert controlling the action all around the ringside area. Havoc wouldn't give up but was a bloody mess by the time it was over. Gilbert finally won with his top rope shoulder ram. (Havoc 6 coins)

The Love Brothers def. The Forever Hooligans

The tag team specialists the Love Brothers were able to go 'hardcore' as well as anyone. Rocky Romero and Alex Koslov couldn't get the fight going their way. Romero took a fall off of the scalfalding around the ring. The Love Brothers did their damage and beat Romero with the double slam. (Romero 5 coins)

Bruiser Costa def. Lance Hoyt

A huge win for Bruiser Cost, coming off a tour of Japan. Lance Hoyt looked ready to win after a huge powerbomb. The two fought on the floor and used any weapon they could find. Costa almost won following a foreign object. He went to work with several moves and won with a neck snap.

The Valiant Brothers def. The Naptown Dragons

Before the match the Valiants talked a lot about the Naptown Dragons not being real wrestlers or a good tag team because they go in for the hardcore stuff outside the ring. The Dragons matched the Valiants for tag team capability in this one. There was fighting outside the ring and foreign objects used during the match. Jimmy Valiant put Dustin Lee away with a super elbow.

Konnan def. Michael Kai Rayne

Michael Kai Rayne took over early on but his attack didn't last long. Konnan showed him how to fight on the outside. Rayne showed his toughness but Konnan won with the Zip Lock.

The Texas Hangmen def. Reno Scum

Two more teams that seem like they will fit right in with the style of wrestling in Puerto Rico. Reno Scum dished it out on the floor but the Texas Hangmen used their Hangmen Backbreaker twice on Adam Thorstowe to win.

Arik Royal def. Sabu

Anything can happen in the dangerous environment in Puerto Rico. Arik Royal seriously dominated this match, but Sabu doesn't go down without a hallacious fight. It was totally crazy how much these two went at it but Royal couldn't put Sabu down for good. Eventually though Sabu couldn't fight back and Royal won after the Cloverleaf. (Sabu 9 coins)

The Sons of Samoa def. Criminal Justice

This was a great tag team battle. Criminal Justice really took the fight to the Samoans. All four men showed how tough they are in taking a beating and coming back. Both teams made the save and interferred, but finally the Samoans finished off Benett Cole with Samu's diving head butt. (Cole 7 coins, Afa Jr. 4 coins)

Uhaa Nation def. Al Snow

This match ended quickly and out of nowhere. Uhaa Nation stopped Snow off the ropes. A suicide dive and standing moonsault scored the three count.

Kevin Sullivan & Sinn Bodhi def. The Batiri

Another very physical contest. The Batiri spent a lot of time working on Kevin Sullivan but didn't do enough damage. Sullivan used his foreign object and Sinn Bodhi ended things with Tallulah Belle on Obariyon.

George Steele def. Moose

This was a one fun as the powerhouse Moose tossed George Steele, around but the Animal showed he can go toe to toe. Steele enjoyed the use of his foreign object and after another trip outside the ring he beat Moose with the flying hammerlock. (Moose 4 coins)

The Grappler & Dutch Savage def. The Revolution

The Grappler and Dutch Savage are competing in the Iron Man Tournament in the NAWA. The Revolution gave them a fight but Savage put away Che Cabrera with the running piledriver.

Brodie Lee def. The French Angel

Brodie Lee stormed his way through the French Angel. He was all offense, the French Angel could not hide. Several Big Boots sent the French Angel down for the three. (French Angel 5 coins)

The Backseat Boyz def. The Sheepherders

The Sheepherders are in the NAWA Iron Team Tournament, but the Backseat Boyz just went right at them. The Sheepherders got nothing going. The cradle breaker and then the T-Gimmick put away Butch Miller.

Fritz Von Goering def. Rhino

The Man Beast Rhino was overwhelmed by the ferocity of Fritz Von Goering. He was relentless and went right to the backbreaker to beat Rhino.

Non-Tournament Matches

The One Man Gang def. Wild Bull Curry

These two have been feuding in ICW and now they are fighting in WWC. After a lot of brawling outside it was the 747 by the Gang that ended the match.

The Sandman def. Ivan Koloff

The Russian Bear was in good shape and taking the fight to the Sandman. The two were outside a lot but the Sandman went nuts with his Singapore cane until beating Koloff into the mat for the pin.

Roddy Piper def. Blackjack Mulligan

Roddy Piper made use of a foreign object any chance he had. Mulligan knows how to fight but he was worn down and lost after the figure four.

BARBED WIRE STEEL CAGE MATCH
The Sheik def. Bruiser Brody

The blood flowed as expected. In the end it was the Sheik able to make use of the cage and the barbed wire more times than Brody. (Brody 4 coins)

In three weeks time WWC will return to payper-view as the tag team and singles championship tournaments kick off today. This is the first show of a double shot and the rabid fans of the WWC are ready for action!

WWC TAG TEAM TITLE TOURNAMENT

First Round

The Gilberts def. The Backseat Boyz

Action kicked off with a very good tag team contest. The Backseat Boyz had plenty of offense but were unable to deal a whole lot of damage. Tommy Gilbert's back suplex helped set up Johnny Kashmere for Eddie's Hot Shot and the three count.

Sandman & Mikey Whipwreck def. Kevin Sullivan & Sinn Bodhi

These teams have plenty of history with each other over in ICW. The fans immediately sided with the well-known ECW team. Sandman took over on the outside. Whipwreck picked up the attack and Sandman's use of the cane put Sullivan down for three.

The Love Brothers def. Larry Hennig & Ray Stevens

Captain Lou Albano was a surprise to see at ringside with Hennig and Stevens. He didn't really bother the Love Brothers though, they wrestled their methodical tag team style and it worked. They controlled both opponents and held on when Albano did interfere on the floor to try and get them counted out. They kept working and Reginald Love finished off the Axe with an atomic drop.

The Texas Hangmen def. The Mongols

A very fun-filled match for the fans. The crowd sided with the masked Texans but were happy with the violence from all four. It was just a plain good ol' fight that the Hangmen won with the double backbreaker.

The Sons of Samoa def. Johnny Rodz & S.D. Jones

The Wild Samoans had no trouble at all in this one. Rodz and Jones were game and made this one take awhile but were overwhelmed and never in the match. Lights Out and then the diving headbutt by Samu pinned Rodz.

The Grappler & Dutch Savage def. The Hillbillys

The Hillbillys had fun but not much success. Hillbilly Jim did start strong and thought he had Dutch Savage beat very early. Cousin Luke then took a pounding the rest of the contest before the Grappler beat him with an elbow smash.

The Blackjacks def. War Machine

The highly impressive looking War Machine were mostly just looks in this one. The Blackjacks went straight at them and outfought the two big men. It took some time though but Mulligan and DiBiase were in control. It was Mulligan ending this one with the Claw on Hanson.

The Valiant Brothers def. Dan Spivey & Giant Bernard

About as much a contrast of styles as you can get. The tag team specialists though stood right with the big men. The Valiants looked great, taking some beatings but coming right back with more pinfall attempts. They even lasted outside the ring. Johnny Valiant came off the top to pin Spivey as Bernard was not able to get there in time.

WWC UNIVERSAL HARDCORE TITLE TOURNAMENT

First Round

Ox Baker def. Fritz Von Goering

Two of the roughest, toughest, nastiest wrestlers in the business. Ox Baker a veteran of the wars in Puerto Rico, but Von Goering knows how to fight. It was the German with a lot of offense and then these two just slugged it out for a long time. Baker finally used the Heart Punch for the win.

George Steele def. Pampero Firpo

The blood flowed in this one. Most of the match was spent on the outside fighting. The Animal really maintained the pressure and gave Firpo very little opportunity to do anything. The flying hammerlock finished him off. (Firpo 5 coins)

The Sheik def. Doug Gilbert

Doug Gilbert is no pushover but it was the Sheik dishing out a lot of punishment. Gilbert had his flashes and nearfalls but a miss off the top rope set him up for an elbow drop and the pin.

Uhaa Nation def. Homicide

A definite upset as Uhaa Nation showed a hardcore side maybe you didn't know he had. This match was all Uhaa Nation. Homicide is hard to beat though but even he couldn't keep going. (Homicide 6 coins)

The One Man Gang def. Arik Royal

This was a very short one. The Gang took over and quickly landed the 747 for the win.

Don Muraco def. Brodie Lee

Brodie Lee had a lot of the offense but Muraco put a stop to it on the outside of the ring. Then the Hawaiian Hammer ended the bout.

Bruiser Costa def. Tony Atlas

Another big-time upset! This was a war with neither man wanting to let the match go. Costa dominated but Atlas would come back time after time. Costa won with a big splash. (Atlas 4 coins, Costa 4 coins)

Konnan def. Wild Bull Curry

All kinds of action in this one. Curry really put a hurting on Konnan, but the Mexican made the most of an opening. The Niagra Driver and a German superplex brought him the win. (Konnan 5 coins)

Quarterfinals

Ox Baker def. George Steele

As good a fight as you would expect between these two. Baker took the win with the Heart Punch.

Konnan def. Bruiser Costa

The Mexican luchador rolled in this one. Costa fought hard but couldn't slow Konnan down. The Niagra Driver put Costa away.

WWC TAG TEAM TITLE TOURNAMENT

Quarterfinals

The Gilberts def. Sandman & Mikey Whipwreck

This was a great matchup with plenty of in the ring and out of the ring action. Two really good teams went toe to toe for a long time. It was Eddie Gilbert getting the pin on Whipwreck after the Hot Shot.

The Texas Hangmen def. The Love Brothers

Anoter good contest that ended wtih a bulldog by Killer on Reginald Love. Both teams were on top at different times in this one with a lot of nice double team action.

The Grappler & Dutch Savage def. The Sons of Samoa

A lot of brawling throughout this one. The Grappler ended it with a loaded boot.

The Blackjacks def. The Valiant Brothers

The Blackjacks came out after a lot of back and forth tags. DiBiase put the offense together against Johnny Valiant and eventually won with the figure four.
