A little later on Friday than usual, but Uncharted Territory is back again! This week, we look back at Jim Crockett Promotions and Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling, after the passing of promoter Jim Crockett, Jr. Uncharted Territory: Episode 20 Thanks to Matt for reminding me I forgot to put the links in! This was my first episode editing, which Cory Olson normally does. After editing, I simply forgot! Slaughter & Kernodle vs. Steamboat & Youngblood - NWA World Tag Team Championship 1983 The Andersons vs. Jones & McDaniel Flair vs. Steamboat - 1978 Great American Bash - 1986

I had a lot of fun when they started uploading the early 80s Mid-Atlantic TV. Jake Roberts as a cowboy, Barry Windham as Blackjack Mulligan Jr., etc. Sgt. Slaughter was a really good top of the card heel during the TV I watched. Good promos every week and the Cobra Clutch Challenge was always fun.
We actually just watched the match where Sting beat Rotunda for the TV Title on the podcast I do. The NWA style just speaks to me better because it's more physical and there is a certain level of grunge to the NWA matches that the WWE just never had.

I listened to this podcast tonight while playing and posting results for my LOW fed.
I enjoyed the talk about JCP 1980s. During the 1980s, living in Tacoma, WA, I think I felt more attached to the WWF because they would show up repeatedly (sometimes monthly) for house shows at the Tacoma Dome while the NWA mostly seemed to stay in the South. I remember being in 7th grade and skipping school the day after a WWF show to instead go to Ticketmaster at the Tacoma Mall and buy my front row tickets for the next show. However, I still always considered JCP the overall superior wrestling product.
To answer some of the questions on today's podcast, I think Wednesday was Jade Cargill's debut match and Myron Reed is known for wrestling in various places especially Major League Wrestling where he defeated Teddy Hart for the MLW Middleweight Championship which he recently dropped to Lio Rush. And in the IWTV set Myron Reed is the representative for Paradigm Pro where he is the current PPW Champion.

Good episode.
Except the Rocky Mountain Thunder name drop was totally uncalled for.....
Great Mid Atlantic/JCP memories. I never got to see a live show because they didn't come around here, but the Superstation at 6:05PM eastern (5:05 central) was essential viewing every Saturday night. Unless they were preempted by the stupid Atlanta Braves going extra innings in another losing effort.
By the way, I still have that Superstar Pro Wrestling NWA edition game that was talked about. It cannot be over stated how convoluted and not fun the Tower Of Doom match rules are. Actually, it played about as bad as the actual Tower Of Doom was to watch. Seemed like a great idea, terrible execution.

I did misspeak, because one strange omission from the set is no Lex Luger card. Very weird since he headlined the GAB 88 PPV against Flair that year.

6:05 Saturday night wrestling (and playing Champions of the Galaxy while on) helped to make me the need I am today!
I'm sure my parents were both happy and concerned that I was more interested in watching wrestling that going out.. on dates.. with girls or generally getting in trouble. BUT... WRESTLINGS ON!
Good episode guys.
