Hey guys, I am a bit of a rookie to the game system, though i've had cards for around 3 years. I have just started a little CotG Federation using the original 2087 black and white starter. I have run two cards now, and am using a Biweekly "TV Show" held in an old abadoned colonial military base (Fort Night Fights!), and monthly PPV's. I am just starting from the lore snapshot in the booklet timeline wise.
How do you guys usually develop rivalries and contendership? My first show was a little meat and potatos, but for my second I used seconds for the heels, and that led to some storylines due to interference and the like.
Sometimes, I like to roll on the Feud table after a match even if doubles weren't rolled, or the wrestlers aren't currently feuding. I then interpret the result to fit the scenario I want to come out of the events. I would love to get some pointers from some of the veterans here!
I must say, this is the game I wish I had found when I was ten years old....I love that I can sit down with the cards and dice, and just let myself sink into this fictional world!
Oh, also, if I wanted to continue with the "official" storyline, what would the next purchase be for the 2087 B&W Starter, the 2087 Color starter, and the New Beginnings starter (which I also have)? I also have the deluxe Black Death starter, so I may run that as a separate federation, or jump up to it after using the Fed I have started now as an "Earth 2" Fed!

After 2087, comes 2088, 2089, etc. There are few special sets in between if they're still available.
I usually just roll out the matches and use the results to drive the storylines.

I usually just roll out the matches and use the results to drive the storylines. This is fantastic dice advice. Let your dice be your main booker man.

For sure, I get that, but how do you guys set up feuds/rivalries, etc?

I start with the book and then let the dice decide if things go differently. Sometimes I just book matches because they sound fun.

The dice determine that for me. Pay attention to what happens in a match. Did your champion Thantos defeat Star Warrior easily? Well, that means Star Warrior isn’t going to get another title shot for a while, even if he’s supposed to be the top good guy. Is Renegade on an unexpected win streak? Well, then maybe Thantos and his allies will start interfering in Renegade’s matches to ensure he doesn’t get a title shot. Be flexible and creative. Let the dice take your imagination in unexpected directions.

Welcome Genghisbomb! COTG/LOW is so darn amazing (your going to have a blast with the b/w 87',88,ect sets!) As far as booking feuds and rivalries, if say Commander Sam was wrestling Death Knight and Sam got counted out early in the match, I'd just imagine that Comrade Terror snuck out to ringside and smashed Sam with a foreign object to keep him out there for the loss. Now I have a main event for either the NEXT card OR BETTER YET a main event for two or three cards down the road (whatever you feel is right you can pull out a Commander Sam vs. Comrade Terror main event). Naturally you'll want to hype this match up between the cards. (they walk in on others interview time talking about the other, or "Via Satellite feed from there homes ect have fun with it) Hope that helps a little!

I always start with the booklet and then see where the dice take things...
Also, each new game year I run My "New Year's Tournaments" for my first card and those make for some fun matches which always end up opening avenues for interesting future matches.
