Great Lakes Championship Wrestling TV Tapings Treasure Island Resort & Casino: Welch, MN Show 12: July 24 (Taped July 3)
1) “Cowboy” Bob Orton, Jr. pinned Jimmy Doo (3) in about 9.5 minutes. Orton came off the second ropes with an Orton Bomb to pick up the win. Mick Karch asked Orton how much longer he needs to wear his cast. The “Cowboy” replied that he continues to see the Mayo Clinic’s top specialists and that due to Manny Fernandez’ “despicable attack” on him, it could be a long time before that happens. Mick followed up asking why Fernandez has denied any such attack ever took place. Orton said that this just proves that Fernandez is a liar and is full of “ragin’ bull crap”!
2) “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka defeated The Iron Duke (2) in six minutes. Snuka controlled much of the match and executed his Superfly Leap to pick up the victory. Snuka thanked the fans for their support and said he wants to fly high in Mankato when gets a rematch with the Sandman!
3) Johnny Saint (4) mounted a big comeback to score a pinfall on Tully Blanchard (2) in eight minutes! Saint had the early advantage and frustrated Blanchard. The Texan pulled out a foreign object and used it twice on Saint. It looked like this would be the difference maker but Saint, an expert on counters, surprised Blanchard with a reversal, then took him to his back with a double arm stretch and cradle to pick up the pinfall out of nowhere! The fans gave Saint a big ovation for his win!
Highlights aired from the May 15 episode of Great Lakes Championship Wrestling and the first match between Manny Fernandez and Randy Rose that went to a 20-minute draw.
4) “The Ragin’ Bull” Manny Fernandez (1) defeated “Ravishing” Randy Rose (2) in about eight minutes. Despite having his Diamond Exchange partner Diamond Dallas Page at ringside, Rose was not able to stop Fernandez, who finished him off with the Flying Burrito. Fernandez told Mick that he looks forward to another match with his former partner Bob Orton, Jr. down the line but for now, his focus is on Dan “The Beast” Severn. He said that he is ready for his Great Lakes championship match tomorrow and he is going to do his best to win the gold and make his fans proud!
Mick and “Ringside” Ralph Strangis ran down one more time the line-up for tomorrow’s card at the Kato Ballroom in Mankato! *Two members of The Diamond Exchange will take on Johnny Saint and Baron Von Raschke! DDP has stated that the Exchange’s goal is to add the Great Lakes Tag Team titles to their collection. They will have a tough challenge with the European team. With the addition of Teddy Long in Vachon’s corner and the Playas’ Club’s attack on Snow on TV, you can bet the martial artist will be ready for a war! *Frank Gotch will take on his rival “The Russian Lion” George Hackenschmidt! Each man now holds a win over the other in GLCW. Who will win this “rubber match”? *Jim Brunzell and Jerry Lynn will defend the Great Lakes Tag Team championship against The Long Riders! The Irwins defeated the champions by countout on the May 29 edition of Great Lakes Championship Wrestling, the day before the fan favorites won the gold in St. Paul. The Long Riders went on to score a big win over the Rock ‘n Roll Express the following week on TV. They have a lot of momentum on their side. Can they win the gold from the popular champions? *Two popular wrestlers will be in the main event, as Dan “The Beast” Severn defends the Great Lakes Heavyweight championship against “The Ragin’ Bull” Manny Fernandez! Note: This show took place before the WWWA World Title tournament in BrazilFlying Redheads cor QuebecersOutstanding match that saw the Redheads get off to a furious start, only to have the Quebecers make a big comeback. Then both side traded big moves and kicked out of seemingly endless pin attempts. Both Quebecers and Bastien were busted open at various stages of the match. Finish saw Quebecer Pierre take a header over the top rope to the floor when Bastien rocked him with a flying headscissors. Although he was dragging himself up the ring apron, Pierre couldn’t beat the referee’s ten count. ****1/2 ( PROMOTER NOTE: nineteen total fatigue Red 4, Lyons 3, Jacques 7, Pierre 5) WOW

SCCW BREAKING NEWS WWWA World Title tournament fallout! Steve “Doctor Death” Williams, already getting a reputation in the area for his temper, was not happy with the outcome of his first round match in the tournament. He faced an equally hot-headed opponent in Stan Hansen and, after dominating the action and bloodying Hansen, got caught with a lariat and pinned. “I hate to lose. But it’s not so much that I lost, but I lost to a stinkin’ Texan!” exclaimed Doc when asked about the match. Hansen currently wrestles in Western States Wrestling and if these two ever meet up again, there will be some fireworks! The Intelligent Sensational Destroyer lost to Ed “Strangler” Lewis, the eventual winner of the tournament. “He kept puttin’ me in that freakin’ headlock! I think that’s the only hold he knows. I thought my eyeballs were going to pop out of my head! If he ever sets foot in this area I’m going put him in the Figure Four and make him cry like a baby!” CURRENT SCCW RANKINGS SCCW Champion: HARLEY RACE 1. The Destroyer (2) 2. Bob Armstrong (3) 3. Jack Brisco (5) 4. Magnificent Muraco (4) 5. Ted DiBiase (1) 6. Bob Roop (8) 7. Ray Stevens (7) 8. Pampero Firpo ( - ) 9. Steve Williams (9) 10. Brian Blair (6) SCCW Tag-Team Champions: VALIANT BROTHERS 1. Bob & Brad Armstrong (1) 2. Flying Redheads (3) 3. The Destroyer & Ray Stevens (2) 4. Brisco Brothers (4) 5. Larry Henig & J.J. Dillon ( - )

SOUTH COAST CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING 7/3/2021 Card #9 – Lafayette Auditorium – Lafayette, LA
Welcome to South Coast Championship Wrestling! Join us now for the fast-paced competition of professional wrestling featuring the top grapplers from the nation’s largest governing body, the World Wide Wrestling Alliance. Before we get to tonight’s action, let’s go to Charlie Platt and Les Thatcher who will draw the names of the competitors to become the initial Alligator Alley titleholder!
In a very low tech ceremony, slips of paper each bearing the name of a wrestler at the arena were placed into a sack. Les Thatcher blindly pulled two slips out of the bag, and the first wrestlers to compete for the title in tonight’s main event will be…Brad Armstrong and Pampero Firpo! (PROMOTER NOTE: I assigned numbers to everyone in the fed and Chad Olson’s son Carter actually picked the wrestlers)
Red Bastien dq Quebecer Jacques This was a long back and forth match that looked like Bastien was finally going to get the pin after an Atomic Drop, but Quebecer Pierre pulled referee Larry Brock out of the ring which resulted in a disqualification.
Magnificent Muraco b Brian Armstrong This one won’t sit well with the Armstrong family. When Muraco had the advantage, he laughed and toyed with Brian. He had sure pins twice, but pulled Brian up while smirking. Muraco’s arrogance almost cost him as Armstrong fought up and got a very close near fall with a Pump Handle Slam. Armstrong went to the top rope for a flying cross body, but Muraco rolled through and got the pin. He spit on Armstrong after the match which brought both Bob and Brad running out and there was a heated exchange but no fisticuffs.
Larry Hennig & J.J. Dillon dq Brian Blair & “Cowboy” Scott Casey In a rematch between these teams, it became clear that the buildup of tensions has gotten to all four of these men. This time it was Blair who lost his cool. After seeing his partner cornered and double-teamed for much of the bout, Blair’s attempts to help only made matters worse as referee Tommy Weathers had to put him out of the ring several times. That gave Hennig & Dillon all the more opportunity to work Casey over. Finally, Blair tossed the referee aside to help his partner which resulted in a disqualification. Rough night for the referees thus far.
“Handsome” Jimmy Valiant b Bob Armstrong After the earlier match between Brian and Don Muraco, Bob was fired up. The match was an outstanding brawl that went in and out of the ring constantly. There were several times when either man could have been disqualified, but the action continued. Valiant was a bloody mess, but wound up getting a timely assist from manager Lou Albano. The Captain handed Valiant some type of abject, which Jimmy stuck inside his knee pad. Moments later he kneed Armstrong in the side of the head and knocked him out cold to get the win.
Frank & Johnny Dalton b Jack & Jerry Brisco The Briscos started this one like they needed to get to the airport to catch a flight. They immediately had Frank Dalton in hot water and it looked like this would be over quickly. However, Johnny made a key pin save and tagged in to slow the furious pace. About this time, there was a rumbling in the crowd as the Destroyer and Ray Stevens made their way to the ring. Although neither was on the show, they were apparently on hand in case they were picked for the Alligator Alley title match. Destroyer was making a choking motion to Jack, based upon Jack’s throat injury from the prior show. While the Destroyer was jawing with Jack, Stevens tripped Jerry during a crisscross and he fell into a Side Legsweep from Johnny and was pinned. This resulted in a brawl between the Briscos, Destroyer and Stevens that went into the aisle and then into the crowd. Order was eventually restored.
ALLIGATOR ALLEY TITLE: Pampero Firpo b Brad Armstrong Although Brad had several chances, it was Firpo who came out on top to become the first ever Alligator Alley titleholder. Firpo’s power was just too much for Brad to overcome, and he won with a falling body slam. The Wild Bull of the Pampas let out a hearty “Ooohhh Yeeahhh!” before leaving the ring.
Pampero Firpo becomes the inaugural Alligator Alley champ, and hostilities between Jack Brisco and the Destroyer continue to heat up! Here’s what our great fans at the Rainbow Roller Rink can look forward to next week:
* Based on the result of the tag-team match earlier tonight, Brian Blair and Larry Hennig will face each other in a singles bout in Panama City! Hennig has been a rule breaking machine since the formation of the WWWA. The Axe has been disqualified a number of times and Blair says he’s ready to fight fire with fire when they meet next week!
* After failing to capture the South Coast Title from Harley Race, Ted DiBiase is getting right back into the mix and will face former Olympian Bob Roop!
* Your big main event will see “The Wild Bull of the Pampas” Pampero Firpo defend his newly won Alligator Alley Title against his first challenger! The challenger will be drawn at random before the start of the show.
All this and much more next time in Panama City!

Some great heat developing between the Briscos and very capable rival pairing of The Crippler & The Destroyer... Lots of great match options there... And I'm totally loving the Alligator Alley title concept... Who will be lucky (lucky?) first challenger for the Wild Bull of the Pampas? Fun stuff!
