SOUTH COAST CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING 7/10/2021 Card #10 – Rainbow Roller Rink – Panama City, FL
Welcome to South Coast Championship Wrestling! Join us now for the fast-paced competition of professional wrestling featuring the top grapplers from the nation’s largest governing body, the World Wide Wrestling Alliance. Before the show began, Charlie Platt and Les Thatcher drew a name to see who would challenge Pampero Firpo for the Alligator Alley title. Firpo claimed he’d been wrestling alligators in the swamp to prepare for this fight, and they were all tougher than any name on the roster. And the winner was – Jacques Rougeau of the Quebecers! Those two will meet in tonight’s main event.
Jerry Brisco b Johnny Dalton Brisco was hot after last week’s tag match where interference by the Destroyer & Ray Stevens caused him to be pinned by Johnny Dalton. He got a bit of revenge here, making Dalton submit to his Figure Four Leglock.
Red Bastien b J.J. Dillon Bastien overcame some attempted interference by Quebecer Pierre and managed to defeat Dillon with an Atomic Drop in a fairly one-sided contest.
The Intelligent Sensational Destroyer & Ray Stevens dq Tom Prichard & D’Lo Brown Prichard scored a very close near fall on Stevens with a knee drop moments into the match. That seemed to wake up the rulebreaker combo, who obviously didn’t take this match seriously enough. Good action that saw Stevens use a double underhook suplex on Prichard, but Jerry Brisco hit the ring and gave Ray a couple solid boots to the head. That caused a disqualification, and Dr. Tom and D’Lo made sure Stevens and the Destroyer didn’t go after Jerry once the bell had rung.
Brian Blair dq Larry Hennig Hennig, similar to Steve Williams, has not been pinned since the formation of the WWWA, but has been losing matches by disqualification. That trend continued here as Blair used his agility and quickness to control much of the match, but fell victim to interference by the “Leader of Men” J.J. Dillon and settled for a disqualification victory.
Ted DiBiase dq Bob Roop Well, you can’t say DiBiase is taking it easy after failing to take the South Coast Title from Harley Race. He jumped back into the mix against the former Olympian who has been undefeated since the formation of the WWWA. He handed Roop his first defeat, albeit by DQ, in a very exciting back and forth contest. DiBiase really started to control the action when Roop grabbed referee Ron Sexton and threw him to the ground, essentially getting disqualified intentionally to avoid a pinfall.
Alligator Alley Title: PAMPERO FIRPO b Quebecer Jacques In his first defense of his newly won Alligator Alley Title, Firpo made himself $5,000 richer, pinning Jacques Rougeau with a big elbow drop in a very competitive match. Ohhhh Yeeeaahhh! In this case, the fans were delighted to see Rougeau get a well-deserved beating. We’ll see if Firpo can keep the winning streak alive in a couple weeks when he faces his next challenger.
A big bounce back victory for DiBiase and more heated activity between the Briscos and Destroyer & Stevens. Things will stay red hot as we travel to Birmingham, Alabama for our next show! Here’s what our great fans at Boutwell Auditorium can look forward to:
* The tag-team championship has seen some great battles between the Valiants and the Armstrongs. Next week, representatives from each team will meet in a singles bout when Bob Armstrong takes on “Luscious” Johnny Valiant!
* Jack Brisco will go one-on-one with the Intelligent, Sensational Destroyer in a battle of Figure Four Leglocks! Jack spent some time at a medical facility after their first encounter, and he's looking to return the favor in Birmingham. This would be a main event at any arena in the country between two of the world's top stars!
* Your big main event will see South Coast Champion Harley Race defend the title against “Cowboy” Scott Casey! Race is apparently trying to defeat all the members of the DiBiase/Blair/Casey trio, who have been affiliated recently. Harley better not be looking past the Cowboy though, as Casey is sure to give him a good fight!
All this and much more next time in Birmingham!

Great Lakes Championship Wrestling July 25, 2021 Kato Ballroom in Mankato, MN 1) Baron Von Raschke (2) & Johnny Saint (1) battled The Diamond Exchange, which tonight consisted of Diamond Dallas Page (1) & King Kong Bundy (2), to a 20-minute draw. “Ravishing” Randy Rose joined the Diamond Exchange members at ringside but didn’t get too involved in the match. This was a competitive tag team opener. Saint surprised DDP with a sunset flip in the first two minutes of the match. Bundy used the Atlantic City Avalanche on “The Clawmaster” about six minutes into the match. He went for a cover but Saint made a save. Page came back in and worked over the German grappler, hitting a chestbreaker for a near fall. Von Raschke made the hot tag to Saint, who battled back for his team. A few minutes later, Saint managed to lock Bundy in the Three-in-One in the center of the ring. The New Jersey giant was trapped but Page made a save to avoid a submission. He nailed Saint in the back with a big forearm, allowing Bundy to recover and make the tag. As time ticked away. Page hit a Russian leg sweep and went for a cover but Saint kicked out. Page and Saint battled it out with neither man getting a decisive advantage, as the bell sounded, indicating the time had expired. **¾ 2) “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka defeated The Sandman (6) in a physical bout that went 16 minutes. Snuka had control at the start and was focused, wanting to avenge getting hit with a beer bottle in their match last month in Ashwaubenon. The Fijian warrior missed a knee drop and the Philadelphia brawler took control. He pounded on Snuka for several minutes but couldn’t keep him down. After missing a leg drop, Snuka went back on the offensive. He hit a piledriver for a near fall. He went up top and hit the Superfly Leap but Sandman managed to kick out. Snuka went up top again and hit a second Leap, this time landing across Sandman’s face and busting him open. It looked like it was over but Sandman got a shoulder up at 2¾! Snuka hit a third Superfly and despite Francine’s screams, Sandman could not kick out this time. Sandman put up a fight but in the end, the “Superfly” prevailed. ***¼ 3) Evan “Strangler” Lewis (4) defeated the returning Mikey Whipwreck (4). Whipwreck wanted revenge for Lewis injuring him with the stranglehold and was fired up, trying his hardest to get his first win in GLCW. He scored near falls after a tornado DDT, a top rope splash, and a slingshot neck snap. The Buffalo native then hit the Whipper-snapper, a Stunner, and went for a cover but Lewis got a foot on the ropes. Whipwreck tried for a Russian leg sweep but Lewis blocked it and hit a double leg takedown. He got a two-count off a crotch lift and body slam and then after a bear hug and trip. Lewis attempted the stranglehold but Mikey was ready for it and blocked the attempt. Lewis turned his attack to the arm, applying a grinding hammerlock for two minutes. Whipwreck wouldn’t tap but finally grabbed the ropes for a break. Lewis tried for a guillotine and leg sweep but Whipwreck got to the ropes. Lewis took Whipwreck down to the mat again and reapplied the hammerlock. Whipwreck wouldn’t surrender but was in a lot of pain. Lewis kept the hammerlock on and turned Whipwreck to his back and shoulders and was able to pin him after 15 minutes of intense action. Lewis seemed to have underestimated Whipwreck’s skills but still came out in the end! ***¾ 4) The Rock ‘n Roll Express scored a surprisingly quick victory over The PitBulls (#1 [1] & #2). “The Original Dogs of War” stormed Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson as soon as they hit the ring, with “Jump” still playing. They wanted to get a big win over the former Great Lakes Tag Team champions but the fan favorites were ready to fight. Robert knocked PitBull #2 out of the ring with a dropkick and Ricky took control of #1. He got #1 down on the mat and the Rock ‘n Rolls hit a slingshot stomp, with Ricky holding #1’s leg down on the mat and Robert leaping into the ring with the stomp. Robert then pulled #1 to the center of the ring and locked on his Gibson leglock—a bridging toehold! #2 attempted a save but was cut off by Ricky with another dropkick. #1 was trapped and taped out about four minutes into the match before his partner could tag! Ricky and Robert were impressive tonight and you can bet they want another shot at the Great Lakes Tag Team titles! DUD 5) Al Snow (2) scored an impressive pinfall on Butcher Vachon (5) in about 15 minutes. Butcher was accompanied by his new manager Teddy Long. Butcher was very focused at the start, attacking Snow right at the bell and looking as if he were going to win easily. He got Snow up in the hangman about five minutes into the match. Snow managed to kick off the turnbuckles and break out of the hold. He took over on Butcher and knocked him out of the ring. Snow hit an amazing Asai moonsault to the floor! Vachon was almost counted out but with Long’s encouragement, returned to the ring by the count of nine. Snow managed to get the big man up for the Snow Plow. He went for a cover but Long put Butcher’s foot on the bottom rope for the break. Snow saw Long’s interference and went after him on the floor. Vachon recovered and went after Snow on the floor but Snow saw him coming and rammed him head-first into the ring post, busting him open. The two returned to the ring and Snow blasted him with a roundhouse kick to the head. Butcher dropped to the mat and Snow covered him to score the pinfall. It was a hard-fought win for the martial arts expert! ***¾ 6) Frank Gotch was victorious over “The Russian Lion” George Hackenschmidt (6) in a bout with a 30-minute time limit. Gotch executed an Iowa backdrop about two minutes into the match and went for a pin but Hackenschmidt kicked out. Gotch showcased his boxing skills by trying to punch out the Estonian. He busted Hackenschmidt open but couldn’t keep the powerhouse down. Gotch tried for a pin twice with a reverse nelson but both couldn’t keep him down. Gotch applied the Gotch toehold in the center of the ring. Hackenschmidt fought hard for the ropes for nearly a minute but finally had to tap out after about 10 minutes of action. It was a big win for the Iowan over his rival! **¾ 7) Jim Brunzell and Jerry Lynn retained the Great Lakes Tag Team titles by defeating The Long Riders (“Wild” Bill Irwin [3] & Scott “Hog” Irwin [1]). This match saw a lot of frequent tags by both teams. Lynn got the advantage on “Wild” Bill and tagged to Brunzell, who followed up with the dropkick. He made a cover but Scott “Hog” saved his brother. Scott controlled Lynn for a few minutes but Lynn rallied back and scored a near fall with a flying body press off the top rope. Late in the bout, Brunzell and Lynn worked over Bill. Lynn hit a guillotine leg drop for a near fall. Lynn took Bill toward the champions’ corner, climbed up to the top rope, pulling Bill up with him, and then hit an amazing sunset flip power bomb. He covered Bill and scored the pin after 15 minutes, while Brunzell held Scott at bay. It was a great win for the champions! **½ 8) The main event started off as a great bout but had a disappointing ending, as “The Ragin’ Bull” Manny Fernandez (3) defeated Great Lakes Heavyweight champion Dan “The Beast” Severn (2) by disqualification. Severn was accompanied by his training partner Al Snow, coming off of his own earlier bout and victory over Butcher Vachon. Fernandez shook hands with the champion and Snow before the bout in a great sign of sportsmanship. Both grapplers kept the action relatively clean and inside the ring. The Mankato fans applauded both wrestlers but were slightly in favor of the challenger, perhaps wanting to witness a title change at the Kato Ballroom. “The Beast” had control of “The Bull” for a few minutes. He tried for the rear naked choke early but Fernandez had the move scouted and rolled to the ropes before Severn could cinch it in fully. He executed a fireman’s carry slam for a two-count. Severn later applied a bow and arrow. Fernandez was in trouble but managed to roll to his stomach, get one arm free, and grab the bottom rope. Severn attempted a gut wrench suplex but Fernandez blocked it and executed a gut wrench of his own! He went for a cover but Severn kicked out. The action was back-and-forth. At about the 16-minute mark, Severn tried for a throw but the challenger blocked it and sent him into the ropes. He nailed him with the Flying Burrito on the rebound. Severn landed near the ropes and Fernandez went for a pin. Severn got a foot on the bottom rope but Billy J. continued the count. Snow reached in from ringside and grabbed Billy, trying to get his attention. Billy misunderstood Snow’s actions and disqualified the champion. The fans were not happy about this! Fernandez yelled at Snow. Snow tried to explain his actions but Fernandez was irate at not winning the title! WWWA official swarmed the ring and tried to separate the two. Severn came to and stood in between them. The three talked through what had transpired. While Fernandez was still upset at the ending, he agreed to shake both Severn and Snow’s hands. Severn indicated that he would be happy to put the title on the line against Fernandez again! ***½

Really enjoying the run of Minnesota's own with the tag belts... Brunzell & Lynn are a dynamic pairing that I imagine could really captivate the crowd... Wondering how they might fare another high flying team like the Rn'R Express... Maybe we'll soon get the chance to find out!

Great Lakes Championship Wrestling TV Tapings July 31, 2021 Treasure Island Resort & Casino: Welch, MN Show 13: July 31 (Aired on tape delay)
Mick Karch and “Ringside” Ralph Strangis opened up the show with a recap of last Sunday’s card from the Kato Ballroom in Mankato. Al Snow came into Treasure Island and apologized for his actions, saying he got nervous at seeing his training partner Dan Severn in trouble and that he thought the champion was going to lose the title with his foot on the ropes. He said that he shouldn’t have interfered with Billy J.’s refereeing and just let the match play out. He said that hopes Fernandez forgives him. “The Ragin’ Bull” came down to ringside to a big ovation. He said that he has been granted his rematch but wondered if Snow would be willing to face him inside the ring next week on TV. Snow hesitated but eventually accepted Fernandez’ challenge and shook his hand!
1) The Great Gama scored an impressive win over Nacho Barrera. The Indian grappler controlled Barrera and threw him in 30 seconds to score the pinfall. In an interview right after, Teddy Long threw out another challenge for Big Van Vader to return to the States and wrestle his charge!
It was announced that the next GLCW card will be a special outdoor card on August 8 at the Big Kandiyohi Lake County Park East in Lake Lillian, MN! This will coincide with the annual Lake Lillian Fun Days and will be sponsored by the Horseshoe Bar in Lake Lillian! “Ringside” Ralph ran down the first matches for this special event. *Johnny Saint will grapple with Tully Blanchard! The British technician scored an impressive pinfall on Blanchard on the July 24 edition of Great Lakes Championship Wrestling and Blanchard is hoping to avenge that loss! *Al Snow will do battle with another member of the Playas’ Club Mad Dog Vachon! The martial artist Snow defeated Mad Dog’s brother Butcher a few weeks ago at the Kato Ballroom and hopes to do the same against the older brother! *In tag team competition, the former Great Lakes Tag Team champions The Rock ‘n Roll Express will battle The Long Riders! The Irwins scored a big win over Ricky Morton Robert Gibson on the June 5 edition of Great Lakes Championship Wrestling. Both teams are hoping to earn another shot at champions Jim Brunzell and Jerry Lynn. Who will leave Lake Lillian the winners? *The main event will see Dan “The Beast” Severn put the Great Lakes Heavyweight championship on the line in a rematch from the Kato Ballroom against “The Ragin’ Bull” Manny Fernandez! Fernandez appeared to have the champion down for the count after the Flying Burrito but Al Snow’s involvement led to a disqualification and Severn retaining the title.
2) The Sandman pinned Red Tyler in about three minutes. With Francine in his corner, the brawler largely dominated Tyler. He seemed happy to punish Tyler more than try to beat him, as he hit the Rolling Rock (a top rope senton) and a DDT but wouldn’t go for the pin. Finally, Sandman hit the White Russian leg sweep to put Tyler down for the pin. Mick interviewed Sandman and Francine afterward and Francine claimed her man would beat “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka in Lake Lillian. Sandman intervened that after his win, he was going to go into the Horseshoe Bar and drink several Michelob Goldens!
3) In a special match that was given a 30-minute time limit, The PitBulls (1 each) scored a huge non-title win over the Great Lakes Tag Team champions Jim Brunzell and Jerry Lynn (1). After the commercial break, Francine returned to the ring with her tag team. Due to the two time-limit draws that these two teams had had on previous episodes of Great Lakes Championship Wrestling, the WWWA officials gave this bout a 30-minute time limit and scheduled fewer matches for the TV show. The Minnesotans had the early advantage, as Lynn hit a DDT on PitBull #1 for a two-count. “The Original Dogs ‘O War” rallied back and hit the Guillotine for a near fall on Lynn. Lynn made the hot tag to “Jumping” Jim, who executed a flying head scissors on PitBull #2 and scored a two-count. Lynn tagged back in a few minutes later and knocked #2 out of the ring. Francine distracted Billy J., while PitBull #1 ran over and punched Lynn with one of the PitBulls’ dog collar chains. They tossed Lynn back into the ring and #2 tagged #1. The PitBulls hit the super bomb on Lynn and #1 made a cover, while #2 stopped Brunzell from a save and they got the pinfall after about 27 minutes of action and a few minutes left in the show!
Next week on Great Lakes Championship Wrestling, The Rock ‘n Roll Express will be in action. Fans will also see Mad Dog Vachon do battle with Mikey Whipwreck Plus, Tully Blanchard takes on “The Clawmaster” Baron Von Raschke, and in the feature bout, two fan favorites will grapple, when “The Ragin’ Bull” Manny Fernandez will face Al Snow!

SOUTH COAST CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING 7/17/2021 Card #11 – Boutwell Auditorium – Birmingham, AL
Welcome to South Coast Championship Wrestling! Join us now for the fast-paced competition of professional wrestling featuring the top grapplers from the nation’s largest governing body, the World Wide Wrestling Alliance. There’s a great night of action ahead, with the South Coast title on the line in the main event!
Ray Stevens cor D’Lo Brown Young D’Lo took it to Stevens early, but once the action spilled out of the ring, he was in Stevens’ environment. Proving once again that hurting his opponents is just as important to him as getting a pinfall, Stevens twice suplexed Brown on the concrete floor resulting in a count out victory.
Steve Williams b Frank Dalton Williams was in good spirits, knowing that he’ll face the man who upended him in the WWWA tournament next week. Under an agreement with Western States Wrestling, Stan Hansen is coming in for a one-time match to face Doc. Williams’ good mood ended abruptly as Dalton tried to attack him before the bell. Didn’t work out well as he was quickly dispatched with a devastating Backdrop Driver.
Bob Armstrong b "Luscious" Johnny Valiant Heading into the big tag-team title bout next week, Armstrong and Valiant represented their respective teams in this singles contest. Although Valiant got an early near fall, it was Armstrong who dominated the action and overcame a distraction attempt by Lou Albano to win with a Georgia Jawjacker. Both Jimmy Valiant and Brad Armstrong came out after the bell and there was a brief brawl that was broken up by security.
The Quebecers dq The Flying Redheads In a bloodbath that rivaled their 6/5 meeting in Gadsden, these four once again just ripped into one another in a long intense battle that saw three of the four busted open. Just an incredible bout with a disappointing ending. Jacques and Pierre did their Tower of Quebec finisher and Red Bastien was disqualified for breaking up the pin. ****1/2 (PROMOTER NOTE: twenty total fatigue Red 3, Lyons 6, Jacques 6, Pierre 5)
The Intelligent Sensational Destroyer cor Jack Brisco Brisco almost had the match won three times within the first minute. He kept the Destroyer off balance until a missed flying crossbody attempt gave the masked man the opening he needed. Destroyer jumped on Brisco and worked him over hard, although could never get his version of the Figure Four Leglock cinched in. The match ended in a huge blowout, as Jack was attacked by Ray Stevens while the referee was distracted by Race. Jerry Brisco came charging out of the locker room with a steel chair and chased Stevens around the ring and through the crowd. All this time, the referee was counting. Jack pulled himself up and rolled into the ring just after the referee reached ten and called for the bell. ****
SCCW Championship: HARLEY RACE b Scott Casey Although Casey wasn’t given much of a chance by some pundits, he did a great job of avoiding Race’s wide array of damaging moves and holds. However, he wasn’t ever able to get his own offense on track, perhaps having too cautious of a game plan. Eventually, Race got through his defense and got the win with a back suplex and handful of tights.
Another win for Race, but the crowd was still buzzing over the thrilling (but inconclusive) finish of the bout between Jack Brisco and The Destroyer. Here’s what our great fans at the Expo Hall can look forward to:
* Favorites Ted DiBiase and Brian Blair square off against Larry “The Axe” Hennig and “The Leader of Men” J.J. Dillon in what is sure to be an exciting tag-team contest! The bouts involving combinations of DiBiase, Blair and Scott Casey against Dillon and his crew have been violent and unforgiving. Many have ended without a pinfall or submission as both teams just throw the rulebook out the window when they meet. What will happen next week in Mobile?
* It’s the rematch fans have demanded! Western States Wrestling sends in Stan “the Lariat” Hansen to face South Coast’s own “Doctor Death” Steve Williams. The two had a classic battle in the tournament to crown the first WWWA Champion, with Williams dominating the match but falling victim to Hansen’s devastating clothesline maneuver. Doc has been clamoring for a rematch, but can he finish the job this time?
* Your big main event will see the Valiant Brothers defend the SCCW Tag-Team championship against their arch-rivals, Bob & Brad Armstrong! The last time these two teams met things got out of hand (shocking!) and, after the Valiants were disqualified, all four men brawled back to the locker room. Don’t get too comfortable in your seats, as this one could go off the rails quickly!
All this plus a women’s tag match and much more next time in Mobile!

Hoping we get another rematch between my Quebecers and the Redheads... A brilliant rivalry that's gotta have those fans wanting more... And speaking of wanting more, how about The Destroyer and Mr Jack Brisco? Pushing each other to the limit right until the end... I'd love to see those two face off in a submission only match -- a Battle of the Figure Fours!
