Card #14 – Riverside Centroplex – Baton Rouge, LA

Welcome to South Coast Championship Wrestling! Join us now for the fast-paced competition of professional wrestling featuring the top grapplers from the nation’s largest governing body, the World Wide Wrestling Alliance. We’ve got a potentially explosive two out of three falls bout between Ted DiBiase and Bob Roop along with the Valiants facing Bob & Brian Armstrong in two singles matches, so let’s get to the action…

Masked Superstar b Angelo Gomez
The former South Coast champ had an impressive return match, defeating Gomez quickly with the dreaded Cobra Hold.

Brian Armstrong dq “Luscious” Johnny Valiant
The Armstrongs – Valiants feud has pulled Brian Armstrong into the fray. This one spilled out of the ring and broke down right off the bat. Valiant was disqualified for smashing Armstrong with a steel chair.

Jerry Brisco b Frank Dalton
With the Briscos able to even their score with the Dirty Daltons in tag-team action last week, Jerry sought to get another win in singles competition. Overcoming a quick near fall by Dalton, Brisco came right back with one of his own. The action went back and forth until Jerry caught Dalton with the Oklahoma Side Roll for the victory.

Quebecers cor Red Bastien & D’Lo Brown
The Flying Redheads have been mentoring the young duo of Tom Prichard & D’Lo Brown and, with Lyons going down to injury, that was the first place Red Bastien went looking for a tag partner to continue the feud with the Quebecers. Both Prichard & Brown were ready to step in, and Bastien gave D’Lo the first chance. Good match, but the Quebecers took advantage of Brown’s inexperience and got him into a bad situation outside the ring. He was counted out but, when the Quebecers looked to inflict further damage, both Bastien and Prichard made sure that didn’t happen.

Bob Armstrong dq “Handsome” Jimmy Valiant
This one was all Armstrong except for a few minutes of offense for Valiant after Lou Albano interfered on his behalf. Bob got two near falls with the Jawjacker, the last leading to the aforementioned Albano involvement. Seeing his chances of victory dwindling, Valiant was intentionally disqualified, and bailed out of the ring. Of course, he won’t have that option next week when he and brother Johnny meet the Armstrongs in a Texas Death Match for the tag titles.

Ted DiBiase b Bob Roop (Best of Three Falls)
After two straight disqualification wins over Roop, Ted DiBiase was looking for a more satisfying outcome in this contest. Great action until, once again, Roop started to get frustrated. Out of nowhere, the Magnificent Muraco snuck to ringside and bashed DiBiase face first into the steel ping post. Referee Ray Hall was busy dealing with a complaining Roop and missed the whole episode. Roop quickly took advantage, rolling DiBiase into the ring and pinning him to win the first fall. DiBiase was able to clear some cobwebs during the period between falls. He struggled early but eventually took over to even the match at a fall apiece when he locked in the Figure Four Leglock on Roop. Now, a fired up DiBiase was ready to go for the third fall. After some evenly fought exchanges, DiBiase used a backbreaker and just got the three count before Roop got a shoulder up. That led to a heated exchange between Roop and referee Hall but the decision stood.

Big wins by the Armstrong family in their encounters with the Valiants tonight. Ted DiBiase was able to overcome Don Muraco’s interference to defeat Bob Roop, but what is going on in the Magnificent One’s head? Hopefully we’ll learn the motives behind the assault soon. In the meantime, here’s what the fans in Meridian, Mississippi can look forward to on our next show:

* Former South Coast champions meet when Brian Blair faces the Intelligent, Sensational Destroyer!

* As a prelude to their upcoming title fight, Harley Race and “Doctor Death” Steve Williams will square off in a tag-team encounter! Race will team with long time partner Larry “The Axe” Hennig. Williams has chosen the last challenger for Race’s title as his partner – “Cowboy” Scott Casey! It should be a great match and give us a preview of the championship bout scheduled for August 28th in Hattiesburg.

* Your big main event will see Jimmy & Johnny Valiant brothers battle Bob & Brad Armstrong in a Texas Death Match for the South Coast Tag-Team Championship! This one has been brewing for a while, and everything will come to a head on the next big show!

I had rolled and written this show up a couple months ago. I had a note "explain why Muraco interfered in main event" at the bottom.  I do that sometimes when I know there will be lag time between when I play the card and when I post.  Just as a reminder to make sure I don't leave a gaping hole in a story or angle.  However, I have absolutely no recollection of what I had planned.  So I'll make something up and keep moving forward.

The Magnificent Muraco recently attacked popular Ted DiBiase during a match in Baton Rouge.  It was completely unexpected as there had been no prior confrontations between the two.  After the show in Baton Rouge had ended, Muraco spoke with Les Thatcher.

“Ted DiBiase. All the people love Ted DiBiase, don't they Les?. The people are crying. The people want to know why I would attack their new hero. The people have forgotten about the Magnificent One. The people have forgotten that I'm a former South Coast champion. The people have forgotten how badly I beat their favorites like Bob Armstrong and Brian Blair. I am not a man to be forgotten, Les Thatcher! And so, the people need a reminder. And so, the people will see me tear down their new favorite Ted DiBiase. I will remind them of my greatness. I will remind them why I am magnificent.”

MIKE JACKSON 2 shocked THE TERRIBLE TURK

- The Turk toyed with Jackson, bouncing him from pillar to post.
- The Alabama Jr Hwt. Champion survived two Strangleholds, making the ropes both times.
- Ismail became irritated and began throwing Jackson out of the ring, repeatedly...
- Turk followed him out of the ring and tried a running shoulder tackle but the quicker Jackson moved!!!
- Turk crashed into the steel ring steps hard, knocking himself senseless.
- Yusuf barely beat the count back in the ring, where Jackson was waiting with a FLOAT-OVER CADLE!!! (Snake eyes)
- The arena erupted when the ref's hand hit the mat for a third time!!!
- JACKSON rolled out of the ring and grabbed the Turk's gold-filled money belt to roar of the fans, as the Turk sat dumbfounded in the ring.




TIGER CONWAY SR. defeated 'EXOTIC' ADRIAN STREET 2 by DQ

- TIGER had Street locked in his ABDOMINAL STRETCH, when HARLEY DAVIDSON slid in the ring and WHACKED Conway in the back with a steel chair!
- SOUL TRAIN JONES hit the ring and chased off the dastardly duo before any more damage could be done.




BLUE WORLD ORDER: 'BIG' STEVIE COOL 3 & THE BLUE MEANIE 2

- The fans were definitely into this wild and whacky match, so the ref let A LOT of things go that he probably wouldn't or shouldn't have.
- BIG STEVIE COOL scored the pin on JUSTIN CREDIBLE after a sick STEVIE KICK, as SANDMAN was busy whacky Meanie and Supernova with his Kendo Stick on the outside.




ROB VAN DAM 2 defeated VAMPIRO 4
/w/ Fonzie

- The Canadian Vampire seemed to have the match won after a NAIL IN THE COFFIN, but a whistle blowing Bill Alfonso distracted the ref breaking the count.
- Bill again distracted the ref, allowing RVD to hit a VAN DAMINATOR - which was the beginning of the end for Vampiro.
- A LEG DROP ACROSS GUARD RAIL left Vampiro easy pickings for a SPLIT LEGGED MOONSAULT...

[Pariah I think Bill Alfonso will be the X factor in this feud, tipping the scales heavily in RVD's favor.]

- This was a mugging and was over quick when Fenton nailed Taylor with a SERIES OF DROPKICKS!
- After the match Fenton went after a heckling fan with a beer bottle, but luckily was restrained by Corino and Alfonso.



GORDON SOLIE welcomed the QUEBECERS - JACQUES ROUGEAU and Pierre Carl Oullett to BIG TIME WRESTLING, but the interview was short lived as THE TEXAS HANGMEN came out attacked the Quebecers!!! Hanging both Rougeau and Oullett over the top rope with their nooses... WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT ALL ABOUT?!?




MAGNUM TA demolished OX BAKER 3

- MAGNUM had the big man reeling from the opening bell and finished him quick with a BELLY-TO-BELLY SUPLEX!




HEARTLAND OPEN-WEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE MATCH - BEST 2 OUT OF 3 FALLS
DANNY HODGE 3 (C) defeated 'THE TIGERMAN' JOHN PESEK 5

- HODGE won the first fall after a Knee Lift followed by an OKLAHOMA SIDE ROLL...
- PESEK won the second fall with a vicious TIGERMAN TOEHOLD!
- HODGE won the third and final fall after a dizzying AIRPLANE SPIN!!!
- Usually a calm and collected guy, Hodge had some choice words for stu and STAR-SPANGLED WRESTLING after the match.




THE HOUSE OF FUJI - GORILLA MONSOON 2 (C) - THE POWERS OF PAIN: WARLORD 1 & BARBARIAN 1

THE COBRA CORPS - SGT SLAUGHTER 2 - THE NEW AGE OUTLAWS: BG JAMES 3 & BILLY GUNN

- BG JAMES went for (deathjump) flying cross body block from the top turnbuckle, but the Barbarian caught him in mid-air and turned him into a wicked POWER SLAM for the stunning victory!
- The fight wasn't over though, as Sarge and Gorilla went at it on the floor and had to be separated by security.




We will be in Hara Arena in Dayton next week, hope everyone will come out support BIG TIME WRESTLING.

- 'GOLDEN BOY' MIKE JACKSON will be in action!
- HARLEY DAVIDSON will take on SOUL TRAIN JONES!
- THE QUEBECERS will look for some revenge on THE TEXAS HANGMEN in Dayton!
- KILLER KOWALSKI makes his BIG TIME WRESTLING debut in Hara Arena
- The Main Event will see GORILLA MONSOON put the NATIONAL HWT. CHAMPIONSHIP on the line against The Real American Hero SGT SLAUGHTER!
