The 2023-24 Pistons are record setters. Sadly, it is for the longest losing streak in a season in NBA history. But they will not rest on their laurels. Just two more losses and they will set the NBA record for longest losing streak period. I think the can do it. Sigh.

Then the question becomes....will they set worst season record ever?

Then the question becomes....will they set worst season record ever? The 2012 Bobcats were so incredibly bad. Detroit is, at it's core, a more talented team than they were. I have to believe that over the course of the next 52 games Detroit will manage to find 5 wins and at worst tie the Bobcats record.

If I looked at their schedule correctly, their next game is on the road against the Boston Celtics who have the best record in the NBA. Then they host the Raptors. I knew they would probably lose more than win this year but I still really don't understand why this team is so bad this season. The Pistons have some good players on their roster such as Cade Cunningham and Bojan Bogdanovic and their head coach Monty Williams is a former NBA Coach of the Year with Phoenix who in another season also led the Suns to the NBA Finals, so he as had success elsewhere.

Not to make excuses but a lot of injuries. Hard for young players to gel when they do not get to play together and/or with top vets. We started 2-1 and looked decent before injuries started piling up. Also not getting calls so a couple loses were at the foul line.

Lots of winable games coming up on the Pistons schedule though in January. They host the equally miserable Spurs and also play the only slightly better Wizards. They have two games against Houston, which are also winable, cause the Rockets play down to the level of their opponents.

Well, we tied the all-time record for losing streak. Silver lining is we played the 23-6 (currently best record in the NBA) Celtics in Boston and had a HUGE lead (19 points at halftime) that we blew but took the game to OT. I am sure no one saw that coming. If they can play like this against lesser teams, they will get some wins. The best thing for them is stay healthy and let their young guys get as much time together as possible. Bojan Bogdanovic can get a lot of minutes, unless we trade him of course, but I would not give much to other vets. Play the young guys and see what they got. That, and we need to start biting kneecaps.

Yeah, if the Pistons can play as good as they did tonight against their next opponent the Raptors then they can win that game and end this losing streak.

I'd put money on the streak ending New Year's Day in Houston.
