Really enjoy the stories on how the Poffo family was signed and speculation on 'If' there was another Macho card. Understood that there would probably only be minor changes for different era's of Macho, but come on Macho King could introduce some cool DQ/scepter moves and possibly a Queen Sherri update card w/ an interference chart or have a duo of the two for the card on their throne could add some fun novelty. Totally agree with this. The scepter and Sherri were integral to his work as Macho King. Getting the two of them reflecting that period would be cool. I certainly wouldn't say no. Sometimes it's hard to think about updates/remakes for Legends when there are so many great names out there both unreleased or unsigned. Indies is another matter... Maybe we can get into that a bit next week with Vegas!

Another enjoyable episode! I wouldn't be interested in a new Savage card with new stats, but perhaps a new card with different artwork for different stages of his career. It would be like some of Tom's original COTG Special Edition cards with different artwork but very few/no stat changes. I will defer to Travis605, but I don't think a "Memphis tag" version of Savage is needed. He was a singles wrestler who wrestled in some tag team matches with his brother. During that time, he also was a singles headliner. And one correction, Magnum TA and Randy Savage only teamed in GCW for that Thanksgiving tag team tournament as an outsider team. I just checked Mark James' Georgia history book, and neither one even wrestled in GCW in 1983.

Even though he did team with Lanny on occasion, I wouldn’t consider him a tag wrestler during that time and not enough to warrant a new card. Looking at his card, he has a tag on 1 and 2 defense. I’d just make a house rule when teaming with Lanny of giving him one extra tag on level 1 offense (Note: this is my fav legends card)

I didn't mean to imply that Savage and Magnum had some long run as a tag team. I mentioned the tournament, but it could have been more clear. Thanks for clearing that up, Chad Olson. It was more the notion of the two of them teaming together that stoked the imagination of Tournament Master and myself. As for the idea of "tag stats," I was just reaching to potentially justify another card with different stats, haha. As has been stated, a heel Macho King with scepter and Sherri mechanics would be far more viable if that path were ever to be made a reality. Based on the research I've done, he certainly teamed with Lanny somewhat frequently, especially in the summer of '84. And they did have what really couldn't be referred to as anything other than a "tag feud" with the RnR Express. They also had a series of matches with the Gilberts and others. If you look at Savage's time in Memphis, more than a third of his matches were tags with Poffo. So, I would say that's more than on occasion. Then again, perception is reality, and you were there Travis605, so I will defer to you. All I have are results, books, and third (or more)-gen video, haha. Again, as I said in the episode, I don't think there's any need for another card; it was really just conversation for conversation's sake. Really appreciate the comments, corrections, and clarifications. Not only does it keep us honest, but it keeps me learning. Thanks, guys!

Great episode, fun listen.
Think if we got another Savage card I'd want a Macho King card, maybe Team Madness.

Sam Fain - Since Mark James was announced yesterday as the winner of the Jim Melby Award for the TNTHOF this year, and he'll be in Waterloo, we'll have to ask his opinion on the Lanny & Savage team! (cheap plug!)

It is always an interesting listen. I am going to get excited to listen as we get closer to Origins 2137 as well!

And, if you are looking for suggestions for a next legends spotlight I really think one on Ray Stevens would be dynamite,

(cheap plug!) A) That's a great idea! & B) That's great news! When I spoke to him a couple of weeks ago, he said he wouldn't be in Waterloo. Thrilled to know that's no longer the case. Such a great guy and a wonderful historian and preservationist. Well deserved on the award, for sure.

And, if you are looking for suggestions for a next legends spotlight I really think one on Ray Stevens would be dynamite, I would love to do a Ray Stevens spotlight. I fear I'd spend too much time lamenting the fact that we don't have more footage, haha. In all seriousness, some of the other guys that experienced their biggest successes pre-80s (in addition to the obvious Thesz, Rogers, etc) I would want to cover include Bull Curry, the Kangaroos (tho without color cards yet, we may hold off and hope...), The Spoiler, and Red Bastien - just for a start. We'd love to hear more suggestions. And, dare I say it, perhaps we'll have to run a poll at some point to determine the next name... Or hold a tournament Tournament Master
