On the podcast Mike called Jamie B. Wilson's exploding planet death match THE END. It's actually called THE RISK and I still have an original copy of it as I'm sure Jim Steel does too. Jim has EVERYTHING bootleg ever created- so impressive.

The 80’s WWF of Gcon eras. 'Roids, coke, and mullets?!?! I kid, I kid! In all seriousness, I can remember seeing pics and reading "reports" in the mid-late '90s and being very envious of being there. It generally took place during my summer vacation to grandparents - in Waterloo, IA, oddly enough - and I wasn't able to make the trek as a teenaged. 2000 would've been the first year I could've probably done it on my own. Alas. I remember when I got the nGo sets in late '99 and I didn't really know what to do with them, haha. I admittedly used them sparingly, mixing them into my GWF that quickly morphed into my bootleg fed, HPW (Hardcore Pro Wrestling - real original, haha), and Biff Malibu "died" in the ring in a Jamie B Wilson death match against Crow... I phased most of them out after that, haha. They deserve a better run from the more seasoned promoter I've become - I hope... Maybe one day... There was Coke... acola and a few mullets.

Oh s#!+, I stand corrected! You are correct sir, THE RISK was Myron's. It was the same concept as Jamie's, guess why got them confused.

We continue our journey to GalactiCon with the owner of the streak, the "Undertaker" of the 'Con himself, Mike Fortune! Mike has great stories beginning with the very first GalactiCon all the way up to present day. Plus, great tales of Canadian wrestling, booking strategies, house rules, and so much more. We also go over the latest teasers, news, and notes from Fed HQ. WebsiteAppleSpotifyGoogleEditor's Note: Apologies for the late notice on this one. The episode dropped at the normal time but I was dealing with some family stuff - my wife's grandfather was moved to hospice - and didn't have the opportunity to make a post until now. Sam Fain, totally understand, and definitely prayers extended to your family during a challenging time!

Lol....
Excellent listen. Really enjoyed the flashback to my own youth searching out wrestling in Southern Ontario.
I recall the action from the west coast (didn't they have a green ring?). International Wrestling was great action out of Quebec. I recall the Rougeau Brothers battling Jimmy & Ronnie Garvin in a blood bath. I was also my first real exposure to Brody and Abdullah.
Thanks for the book recommendation as well. I think I am going to ask for it for Father's Day.

Great Trip down memory lane hearing from Mike. I actually had to rewind a couple of times so I could let Lori hear a couple of the stories where she was mentioned (she cringed again at remembering attending the matches in Pittsburgh).
Like Mike said & more than a few have said here; GalactiCon really is more than just a chance to get together to roll the bones with fellow Promoters. It is play Euchre with Great Friends, going to see a movie & having a "Krakan" moment where three of us laughed so hard we are absolutely sure the rest of the movie-goers were wondering what the hell was going on in that section of the theater, to a "hot wings" eating adventure that get's brought up once a year on a certain Promoter's birthday (well...at least I bring it up), to picking up the tab for food & drinks (and COTG Sets), to shared rides, to seeing Jamestown Joe's residence, seeing the looks on waiters and waitresses faces when the dice and cards make an appearance, to a first (of many) Yuengling, a comedy show that had us rolling (& Tom a little concerned for Leslie during one of the songs...LIKELY VERY CONCERNED) (& hey I think there is a song about "Havoc" that we are all still waiting on, aren't we?) to going to see wrestling action...seriously, this list can go on and on...comic book stores, trips to the lake, sharing a hotel room (more than once), nights at the matches! (and the news casters comments on a "Wrestling Convention at the Sheldon House" & the looking on her face while she commented that she hoped there wasn't "any damage to the historic mansion"!)
For me there are also memories associated with attending with my best friend the first year I attended, to memories with my sons on the road-trips we made to & from GalactiCon, then making the road-trip to GalactiCon a "full" family affair (yep...all of the Beck's have been to at least one!) when my daughter made the road-trip with me, to really missing out on not being there when I was stationed WAY FAR AWAY or Duty requirements kept me from being able to get there, to making more than one "triumphant return" after missing a year (or two), to having Julius (the cat, Lori's fur-baby & my Buddy) make an appearance, and Most importantly to Making Friends and getting the chance to see them!
Did I say this was a great episode?
(And really looking forward to next week's episode and the specials guest!!!)
