Night Five: Sportatorium, Dallas, Texas
Group F Bob Orton Sr. and Bob Orton Jr. v. Quebecers (Pierre Carl Oullett & Jacques Rougeau)
Dick Woehrle has strict instructions for both sides before Orton and Rougeau trades moves. Both sides make tags as the action stays defensive. Oullett opens it up with big left hands on Orton Jr. and then is jointed by Rougeau for a Double Goozle. Rougeau covers for one (R7/P3). Rougeau with a smash off the top of the corner and dropkick. Orton Jr. gets dumped to the floor and Rougeau follows him out. Orton Jr. shoves Dr. Mike Lano into his opponent. Orton is in and climbs the corner. Rougeau tosses him to the mat. Boston Crab leg drop to Orton. Orton battles back going after Oullett’s eyes. Oullett is sent rebounding off the ropes but counters a backdrop with a piledriver. Oullett with a middle rope reverse splash. Rougeau takes over the action. Scorpion Death Lock has Orton in trouble. Flying elbow ram connects. TOWER OF QUEBEC. Orton Jr. is cut off and Woehrle makes the three-count (R6/P6). Group G British Bulldogs (Davey Boy Smith & Dynamite Kid) v. Texas Hangmen (Psycho & Killer)
Joey Marella is the referee for the match. Kid starts out against Psycho and frustrates his opponent with his speed by Killer puts an end to that and then is jointed by Psycho for a HANGMEN BACKBREAKER to Kid for a one count (R10/P3). Kid is able to counter and gets the tag. Smith misses a moonsault but Psycho misses an ill-advised dropkick and then Smith nails a moonsault. Double heat butt from the Bulldogs to Psycho. Kid goes to the top for a cross body block . . . Powerslam counter from Psycho. Kick out at 2 (R8/P3). HANGMEN BACKBREAKER. Smith jumps in and it is a brawl. Bulldogs control. Hooking clothesline from Kid to Psycho. Killer is in and controls with his size. Pummel in the corner. Psycho with a bell to belly suplex . . . countered by Kid! Smith is in. Psycho is rebounded off the ropes but lands a tackle. Running power slam to Smith. Kid tags back in and Psycho just absorbs a forearm slug and crushes Kid with a running power slam. Psycho with face rake but Kid comes back with a standing dropkick. Snap Suplex and Kid hooks the leg for one (R8/P5). Kid to the top . . . Deathjump cross body. 1, 2, Smith blocks the save, kick out (R9/P6). Smith is in. Double head butt. Kid is in for a knee drop. Smith back in for a falling power slam. Smith covers but Killer is in. Smith tosses Killer to the floor. TOWER OF LONDON. Bulldogs take it (R8/P11). Group G Sheepherders (Butch Miller & Luke Williams) v. Killer Bees (B. Brian Blair & Jim Brunzell) James Beard calls for the bell and the skills of the Bees is on full display with a double back drop and double toehold to Miller. Williams gets into the action but can get nothing going. Blair catches him in the corner with clothesline. Brunzell attempts a body slam but Williams blocks and scores with clubbing forearms. Williams tosses Brunzell to the floor and then plants his head off the mat with a tombstone piledriver. Miller is in with a smash from the top of the corner. RUNNING KNEE SMASH. 1, 2, kick out (R7/P3). Bruznell is tossed to the floor again. Williams comes out after him and the two exchange blows. Beard comes out to break it up and Williams shoves him to the floor. The official calls for the disqualification. After the match, Williams and Miller leave the Bees in the heap in the middle of the ring.
Up next, Group A returns to action with Nick Bockwinkel & Ray Stevens looking to get on the board against Double Axe Attack. In the Miracle & Violence Connection battles Original Midnight Express and Powers of Pain meet Bob and Brad Armstrong.

Nice to see Quebecers and Bulldogs winning. A Tower of Quebec followed by a Tower of London... Very nice! And Sheepherders losing via DQ seems about right as well... Good times!

Night Six: Olympic Auditorium, Los Angeles
Group A Nick Bockwinkel & Ray Stevens w/Bobby “The Brain” Hennan v. Double Axe Attack (Larry Hennig & Curt Hennig)
The power of Larry Hennig is on full display against Bockiwnkel early on. Curt Hennig looks just as impressive and then gives way to his father again who executes a body slam and traps Bockwinkel is a lengthy bear hug. THE AXE downs Bockwinkel but Heenan distracts referee James Beard. Hennig then connects with a second THE AXE. 1, kick out (R11/P5). Curt Hennig is in keeps control. Bockwinkel continues to take a beating from both members of the Hennig family. Larry Hennig lands a body slam and applies a bear hug to Bockwinkel. Curt Hennig blocks Stevens but Bockwinkel hangs in (R9/P4). Curt Hennig tags and mounts the corner but Bockwinkel tosses him off the ropes. Stevens tags and immediately connects with BOMBS AWAY. 1, 2, kick out (R5/P3). CRIPPLING PILEDRIVER for another two count (R6/P3). Another CRIPPLING PILEDRIVER. 1, Bockwinkel blocks the save, 2, 3 (R3/P4).
Group H Miracle & Violence Connection (“Dr. Death” Steve Williams & Terry Gordy) v. Original Midnight Express (Randy Rose & Dennis Condrey) w/Jim Cornette
It is back and forth from the opening bell with both teams making key tags to prevent momentum from building. Williams counters a clothesline from Rose with one of his own sending both men to the mat. Williams is up first. BACKDROP DRIVER. 1, 2, Condrey breaks it up. Gordy tags in. PILEDRIVER. Cornette distracts James Beard at the count of two. STF punishes but double knee drop misses. Condrey is in. Clothesline in the corner. Condrey with a pair of atomic drops. Gordy bails and Condrey comes out after him. Condrey goes face first into the table. Both sides make tags and Rose rebounds Wiliams into high knee. ROSE BOMB connects for two (R7/P2). Rose maintains control. Condrey joins him for a drop toehold attack for a near fall (R6/P3). Backbreaker a choke on the ropes is blocked. Gordy is in. Condrey avoids and tags out. Rose cannot get anything going. Gordy plants him with a tombstone piledriver. Gordy stretches Rose with an STF. Rose counters another tombstone attempt. Condrey tags but Gordy avoids a knee drop and then rebounds Condrey into a wicked shoulder block. Tombstone piledriver. Gordy sends Rose into the ropes and Condrey connects with a flying tackle. Rose is in and works the arm. Williams tags in and lands an elbow drop. Williams presses the shoulders of Rose but Cornette distracts “Dr. Death.” Low blow from Rose… HEAT! Condrey in. Knee drop . . . misses! Gordy is in. They exchange blows until Gordy scores with a back suplex. Williams is in. Double Football Tackle. Gordy with ORIENTAL SPIKE. Condrey makes the ropes (R10/P4). BAMM BAMM SLAM. 1, 2, 3 (R5/P5). Group H Powers of Pain (Warlord & Barbarian) w/Mr. Fuji v. Brad & Bob Armstrong
James Beard gets his third bout of the night. Barbarian and Warlord toss around both Armstrongs and then execute a POWER HEAD BUTT to Armstrong. The pin save is blocked but “The Bullet” kicks out (R10/P5). Barbarian with back to back big boot to the face and a diving head butt. Shoulder breaker and a power slam downs Armstrong. Barbarian covers. 1, 2, Armstrong in to save his dad. POWER HEAD BUTT from the Powers of Pain to Bob Armstrong. Beard makes the three-count (R7/P7)

Thanks TTX . The Powers of Pain looked awesome in the first round and might have been the most impressive team so far. Night Seven – Chicago Stadium, Chicago Group A Midnight Express (Bobby Eaton & Stan Lane) w/Jim Cornette v. Long Riders (“Wild” Bill Irwin & Scott “Hog” Irwin) The Express are on it from the moment James Beard calls for the bell. Scott Irwin is cut off and a drop toehold and elbow lands. Eaton lands an Alabama Jam and a vertical suplex. Another drop toehold and elbow leads to Divorce Court. Irwin counters a clothesline with one of his own and The Hog and Eaton go to the mat. Eaton comes off the top with an elbow. Flurry of karate kicks from Lane puts down Irwin. Cover 1, 2, “Wild” Bill is blocked, 3. (R5/P5) Group B Jack & Jerry Brisco v. Too Cool (Brian Christopher & Scott Taylor) James Beard is in charge of the action and calls for the bell after the teams exchange handshakes. Taylor controls against Jerry Brisco and lands a pair of superkicks. Both sides tag and then Too Cool make an additional tag to shake things up but Jack Brisco control against Christopher. Brisco connects with a dropkick and then a suplex assortment. ROLLING REVERSE CRADLE gets a one count (R8/P3). Jerry Brisco tags in and executes a perfect OKLAHOMA SIDE ROLL and gets the three count (R2/P4). Group B Chris Candido & Tom Prichard v. Fantastics (Bobby Fulton & Tommy Rogers) The Fantastics get a quick start against Prichard and execute PRESS SLAM/SPLASH for a big near fall from Dick Woehrle (R6/P4). Fulton connects with a cross body block but Prichard is able to roll through and get the tag. Candido with a choke and Fulton escapes to the floor after a snap suplex. Dr. Mike Lano moves in for a close up and his flashbulb accidently explodes. Fulton is holding his face as Candido tosses him back in and covers. 1, 2, Rogers breaks up the cover. Tombstone piledriver plants Fulton but he manages to extend his leg for the defensive tag! Rogers is on fire. Fulton joins him for a double sitout hip toss. Prichard is in against Fulton. To the mat with a drop toe hold. Prichard rubs Fulton’s injured face into the mat! Candido is in. Chokes out Fulton. Rogers gets the tag. Double sitout hip toss. Fulton covers Prichard for a two count (R7/P4). FANTASTIC CRADLE. Candido breaks up the cover. FANTASTIC FLIP to Prichard. 1, 2, Candido breaks it up. ROCKET LAUNCHER. Three count (R4/P11). The Standings after two rounds in Group A Midnight Express 4 points Long Riders 4 points Nick Bockwinkel & Ray Stevens 4 points Double Axe Attack 2 points The Express get the first spot having not accumulated any fatigue in the tournament to date. The Long Riders have five fatigue which gives them the one point edge over Nick Bockwinkel & Ray Stevens with six. Group B standings after two rounds Fantastics 8 points Too Cool 4 points Jack & Jerry Brisco 4 points Chris Candido & Tom Prichard 0 points The Fantastics are undefeated so far and look to be a lock to advance to the knock out round. Night Eight, Omni, Atlanta
Group C Barry Windham & Blackjack Mulligan v. James Gang (B.G. James & Kip James)
Kip James uses his speed to avoid Mulligan and then plants the big man with a jackhammer that has the fans rocking. Both sides make tags. Windham and B.G. James trade counters and Windham hits a suplex. James takes a breather but trips over Dr. Mike Lano. Back inside, James ducks a running slingshot but his own shuffling punches are blocked. Mulligan is in but James uses his speed to get out of trouble and tag out. Kip James impresses with a standing dropkick that topples Mulligan to the floor. Kip James is out after Mulligan and slams him onto the concreate. 7, 8 . . . Mulligan is back in the ring. The Gang with a spike piledriver. Mulligan rolls to the floor again. B.G. James comes after him. The crowd is roaring. Mulligan and James trade blow. Low kick from James . . . James grabs a chair . . . CRACK! Mulligan goes down. James Beard calls for the disqualification! Another decision from Beard in the tournament that goes against his reputation. Group C Valiant Brothers (“Handsome” Jimmy Valiant & “Luscious” Johnny Valiant) w/Captain Lou Albano v. Taylors (Chaz Taylor & Tugboat Taylor)
Dick Woehrle calls for the bell. Chaz Taylor is too quick for Jimmy Valiant but “Luscious” Johnny has the answer with an uppercut punch and a stomp off the top of the corner. Jimmy Valiant is back in and keeps the pressure on. Taylor avoids a boot to face and tags out but Tugboat struggles. “Handsome” Jimmy lands repeated stomps and tags in Johnny Valiant who lands a jumping stomp into the chest of Taylor and covers. 1, 2, kick out (R7/P4). Johnny Valiant lands a stomp from the top of the corner and follows with a SPINNING NECKBREAKER. 1, 2, Chaz Taylor breaks up the cover. Jimmy Valiant is in with a knee lift. Taylor spills backward into the tag. Taylor is on fire and unleashes a fast paced attack against Valiant ending with a running corner splash. 1, 2, kick out (R6/P3). Missile dropkick is on target but sends Valiant into his own corner for the tag. Tugboat is back in with a punch to head but Johnny quickly tags back out. Tugboat and Valiant trade blows. The Valiants with a double buckle whip. Johnny Valiant covers. 1, 2, Chaz Taylor breaks up the cover. Tugboat Taylor eats a DOUBLE CLOTHESLINE. 1, 2, ¾ (R9/P8). Jimmy Valiant blasts Taylor with a foreign object. HEAT! Taylor is busted open. Valiant works the cut. Johnny Valiant rebounds Taylor into a high knee smash. Boot scrape is blocked. HOT TAG! Chaz Taylor with a leg drop. Running corner splash. Another one. Cover 1, 2, kick out (R7/P3). Cartwheel and superkick. Arm wringer and backdrop. Taylor off the top with an elbow. Air Chaz rocks ringside and Taylor continues to battle. Valiant counters a turnbuckle headlock takeover. Both sides get tags. Taylor uses his size to gain the upper hand. Shoulder breaker is followed by a flying elbow drop that gets the fans out their seat as the 300 pounder takes flight! Taylor lands another! ANCHOR DROP! Albano cannot cause a distraction. Johnny Valiant is in for the save followed by Chaz Taylor. The Taylors clean house. ANOTHER ANCHOR DROP! 1, 2, Albano jumps into the action! HEAT! Dropkicks sends Albano flying! Tugboat Taylor with a cartwheel and clothesline. Power slam and arm wringer and backdrop. Chaz Taylor with back to back running corner splashes. Taylor works a hammerlock. Rebound into back elbow. Turnbuckle headlock takeover . . . countered. Chop to throat from Johnny Valiant. SPINNING NECKBREAKER for a one count (R8/P4). Face slam to canvas. SPINNING NECKBREAKER. 1, 2, ¾! (R6/P5). OUT OF MY SEAT! Jimmy Valiant in. Tosses out Taylor like the trash. To the floor, Taylor with a superkick. Monkey flip into the ringside table! Tugboat tags in. Elbow to the top of head. ANCHOR DROP. 1, 2, Johnny Valiant makes the save! Backbreaker. Jimmy Valiant bails. Taylor follows. Jimmy with a kick below the belt! BOOOO! Valiants with SUPER ELBOW. Victory (R6/P11). After two rounds, the standing of Group C Valiant Brothers 8 points Barry Windham & Blackjack Mulligan 6 points Taylor 0 points James Gang 0 points The Taylors and James Gang are mathematically eliminated from the tournament and all that remains is the battle between the Valiant Brothers and the father son duo of Barry Windham & Blackjack Mulligan to see who will win the Group. Group D Stan Hansen & Bruiser Brody v. PitBulls (Pitbull #1 and Pitbull #2)
Dick Woehrle knew he would have his hands full will four competitors coming to the ring armed with weapons. Brody and Pitbull #2 explode into a brawl at the bell that goes to the floor. Pitbull #2 takes it back to the floor. Pitbull # 1 is in with a running power slam. Pitbulls with a drop toehold and flying elbow on Brody. Super fallaway slam from Pitbull #2. ½ COUNT ONLY (R12/P2). Smash from the top. SUPER BOMB. 1, 2, Kick out (R8/P5). Running power slam from Pitbull #1. Snap Suplex . . . blocked! Hansen with a tackle. Burger body slam. Hansen sends Pitbull #1 into the ropes. Double clothesline! Hansen is up first. Knee drop without knee pad. Chops from Hansen. Headbutt is countered. Pitbull #2 sends Hansen into the ropes and they crisscross. Double clothesline. Both are down. Pitbull is up first. Brawl on the floor. SUPER BOMB to Hansen. 1, 2, kick out (R7/P4). Running power slam and clothesline from Pitbull #1. Kicks and another clothesline down Hansen. Spinebuster. Pitbulls with a drop toehold and elbow on Hansen. DOOMSDAY DEVICE TO THE FLOOR! OMG! SUPER BOMB. 1, Brody is cut off, 2, 3 (R5/P7). BRODY AND HANSEN OUT!?!
