I will be in Ohio next week from Monday through Wednesday afternoon. What is Ohio known for in terms of food?
Part of the time I will be in Cincinnati and I think they are famous for chili? I might not be able to try their chili though because it seems most chili has onions as an ingredient and onions make me sick (although I can have onion powder.)
The only other time I have been to Ohio was in 2015 for Galacticon in Cleveland. I got there a day early and went to downtown Cleveland to see the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame and go to a Yankees-Indians game. So I will be seeing different parts of Ohio this time (Canton, Cincinnati, areas in between those two cities, and areas between Cincinnati and Indianapolis where I am driving to next Wednesday afternoon.)

Good news Vegas Skyline Chili does not have onions in it. Its just meat, water and spices. Onions are a very common topping, but totally optional as well as the beans. Definitely stop there when near Cincy. I suggest getting a cheese coney (chili dog) and chili on spaghetti.

Sounds good, if it does not automatically some with onions (that is why I have never eaten a burger at any of the White Castles here in Las Vegas) then I would really like to try their chili. I will plan to try to go to Skyline Chili for dinner in Cincinnati next Tuesday night. Thank you for the advice Todd! I also just remembered one of my coworkers who is from Ohio once brought me something called a buckeye when they got back from a trip to eastern Ohio.

Apparently Skyline Chili is extremely controversial. People either eat it or loathe it. Never had but I don’t see what the big deal about it is. Seems like it would be good.

A buckeye is just a round piece of chocolate with peanut butter in the middle. At skyline you can get a cheese coney with or without mustard. You can also get a three way four way or five way chill. A three way is spaghetti chili and cheese. A four way is spaghetti chili cheese and beans or onions. A five way is all five. Of course you wouldn’t want that since you don’t eat onions

I just looked at the menu for Skyline Chili. It looks like they have 4 locations in Cincinnati and 1 in Columbus (I think I am driving through Columbus?) and I will probably try the 3 way spaghetti since it has no onions.
If I can get a cheese coney without onions, I might try one of those too but that is alot of food for one meal.

You can also try. Montgomery Ribs. The ribs are delicious. This is the truth. We had ribs there and then in Memphis at Corky's the next day. We totally preferred the Montgomery Inn in Cincy.

Very true, but I figure its worth the experience for Vegas to make the call himself. My neighbor in grad school was from Cincy and was always an advocate. When I went there I loved it. But then again Cincinnati chili is my favorite style of chili, even when we make it ourselves.
