Where are you stopping to eat at in Columbus sir? My friend asked me to meet her for lunch at a place called Brew Dog (the food was OK) and then we walked across the street to get a 2nd beer at a different brewery. Brew Dog is where Kevin Butcher suggested a future Gcon. There is even a Brew Dog Hotel, where some suites come with their own beer tap. I certainly wouldnt mind that.

Cleveland is not a great city to judge Ohio as a whole by... lol 😉 If you're coming 71 S., get off on Polaris Parkway - anything and everything you could possibly want to eat is there. Exit just before 270 outerbelt, #121. You know you want some RASIN CANES! I love me some Canes, but the man is coming to CBus for the first time! Send him to House of Japan or Beer Barrel Pizza for heaven's sake!! Edit: I see now that he has already come and gone. I've never been to Brew Dog.

I (finally) made it to Indianapolis today.
Normally the drive from Cincinnati to Indianapolis is about 2 1/2 hours but it took me nearly 5 due to road closures, road construction, etc. But otherwise I had another good day.
This morning in Cincinnati, I toured the Reds' Great American Ballpark and that is now MLB Ballpark #23 for me. Although I would not put it among the upper echelon of ballparks, the Reds nevertheless have a nice ballpark. I also visited the Reds Hall of Fame which is really good as the Reds have more history than any other MLB team since they were the first professional baseball team dating back to 1869.
Speaking of that first 1869 Reds team, I was asked by the Reds when I checked in for today's tour if I was related to Charlie Gould who was the First Baseman for the first-ever Reds team in 1869 and he was also the only one of that 1869 team who was actually from Cincinnati. After he retired, he later managed the Reds. I said as far as I know there is no relation.
During the tour, I found out I have been to Kentucky. While we were walking around the back of the stadium they talked about the nearby Ohio River and how the area on the other side of it is Kentucky. Well last night I went across the Ohio River to eat at Skyline Chili because it was the closest location still open at that time. To confirm it, I looked up the place's address and it was indeed inside Kentucky. Kentucky is thus the 29th state I have been to.
After I got to Indianapolis tonight, I checked into my hotel, dropped off the rental car, and met Troy at Victory Field where we saw a AAA game between Indianapolis and Omaha.
I will be tired in Waterloo though as my shuttle to take me to the airport leaves in just 4 1/2 hours. Hopefully I can check into my hotel room early tomorrow and get some sleep before everything starts at 5 PM.

At the gate now to fly to Chicago and then to Waterloo. I did not get much sleep last night, hoping to sleep on the flights.

From what I understand, rental car companies sold off a lot of their cars during the pandemic since people weren't traveling as much. BUT there is a shortage of new cars as well so now that people are traveling again, those rental companies can't buy cars quick enough to bring their inventory up to where it needs to be. Yeah, everything with travel, cares included has been turned upside down the past 2 years. Used to be rental cars were most busy during the week for business travelers, but that has dried up. Weekends used to be easier, but now more folks are renting cars instead of flying or using public transport, so its near impossible in some cities to get a car on the weekends. I work in hotels and our bread and butter was groups and business travelers, who are not coming. Our weekend business has exploded recently, but they dont have the staff to support them and their needs on the weekends. Same here, work at a hotel and pre pandemic we were busy during the week with business travelers and up and down on weekends. Since late March weekends have been crazy, mostly sold out, and week days slow but they are starting to pick up.

After stopping in Columbus to meet a friend for lunch, I made it to Cincinnati tonight. I wonder, why do the hotels in Ohio run the AC full blast? This was the case in both Canton yesterday and in Cincinnati today. It was only 73 degrees in Cincinnati when I arrived, so it really is not that hot here and the hotel rooms are freezing (I had to wear my hoodie) from the AC running. But otherwise this hotel is great. I am in downtown Cincinnati and my hotel room partly overlooks what looks like the Bengals stadium. As I mentioned on another thread, tonight I went across the Ohio River to eat at Skyline Chili (I ordered it 3 Way as I can not eat onions.) The chili I had in Cincinnati is incredible! Tomorrow morning I am going down the street to tour the Cincinnati Reds stadium and then drive to Indianapolis to turn in the rental car and later meet up with TTX for a AAA baseball game between Indianapolis and Omaha at Victory Field. My hotel in Indianapolis is near the airport as I have a very early flight (something like 6 AM) on Thursday morning to Chicago to catch my connecting flight to Waterloo. One of the reasons we keep our room ACs so low is to fight humidity and avoid mold. It might be the same thing up there.

Me and Troy just landed in Chicago and we are about to board our connecting flight to Waterloo. Almost there.

I woke up this morning all relaxed as the first of 8 vacation days just started. Going to leisurely pack, get gas and wash my car, go buy a purple tie, have breakfast, and head out to home of John Gacey. I can't wait to see everyone...
