You get a chance to rebrand yourself & make an impact on a fan base thats frustrated. For years they let all our stars walk and they chose the same colors, same font and an awful nickname. This is what us Cleveland fans deserve I guess smh

Ya that’s pretty bad. Very plain. Like they moved their franchise on a video game. It’s also too trendy with the whole Guardians of the Galaxy movie and doesn’t do anything to represent the city or state.
Was the name just given to them or did fans vote on options?

I read that the Guardians name ties into Cleveland's Guardians of Traffic but I agree that I do not like this name either. It would have been better to go back to Spiders as me and Troy were talking about last week at the AAA game between Indianapolis and Omaha.
In the NFL, the WFT is finally going to reveal their new name next year.

I hate the name Spiders. It has no real connection to the current team besides the city and the original Spiders are really only known nowadays for being the worst team in history.
Guardians wouldn't be my first choice but it's far from my last, either. I don't like the logo, though--looks way too similar to the late-'90s Disneyfied Anaheim Angels.
All in all, nowhere near as terrible as the Seattle Kraken.

I wish there was a fan vote Rob. I’m with you, Vegas and Troy, I liked the name Spiders and was hoping they’d go in that direction. The Guardians of traffic…. Cleveland got the worst roads in the country. SMH

I am definitely not a fan of this name change. I thought something like the Cleveland Rockers would be cool based on the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame being in Cleveland. Maybe it's too close to Rockies? I would have liked the Spiders as well. I'm not feeling that logo either. Oh well. Lol I just realized I have a Guardian rank on here  |
