One COTG match I loved and used a lot was Four Weapons of Destruction. That was my primary feud-ender for awhile. I tweaked the rules so that it was the first to 12 tokens instead of 10, with each wrestler starting with their Pin rating, to take that into account.
The Cosmic Cage rules are great in their simplicity, but part of me wouldn't mind seeing a substitute chart for "out of the ring" to account for things like a reversal of an Irish whip into a cage.

When I was modifying all of the Superstar Pro charts to COTG equivalents way back when, I did adapt their Cage chart for COTG usage. Someday we'll get to that issue of the CGSR, but maybe I can dust it off for the Ringside Companion.

Four Weapons is fun. I too tend to prefer traditional matches but sometimes the more exotic matches are a fun change of pace.

While it may not technically be a 'special match' - one I forgot to mention was Best of Three Falls. I love the old school feel of that when you have the right guys to make it work.

Tim,
Thank you for the great description of what park golf is. I kept hearing you mention it and was wondering what it was and if it was different from regular golf. Sounds like it is a lot of fun to play.

I personally allow someone to go until their PIN reaches 12 but once their PIN is 12 and their opponent rolls their finisher or another PIN attempt then the match is automatically over. My reasoning for not stopping once a PIN just reaches 12 is that it is possible to kick out of a PIN attempt if your PIN is 11 and you roll a 12. So I think if they roll a 12 on a PIN attempt when their PIN had reached 11 then the match should continue until the next PIN attempt. You're right Zeke. I asked the question wrong. My question should have been What do you do when they hit 13? I've had some special matches where, as discussed on this episode, tokens keep being added but no pinfall attempts occur. Sometimes past 12. Toasterboy, I think you asked your question fine as I have not heard the podcast yet (hoping to hear it on my flight home from Chicago tomorrow but I had a problem earlier trying to download it) and I was actually responding to KB's post about him stopping once the PIN reaches 12 because at 12 I just personally choose to keep the match going until the next pin/submission attempt which is then an automatic pin/submission. I think the question you are asking here is good such as what if someone's PIN reaches 12 and then they get hit with an Add 1 move but it does not lead to a pinfall attempt. Although I keep a match going with a PIN at 12 if someone kicked out at a PIN of 11, if they then get hit with an Add 1 move to make their PIN 13 I would probably rule that the Add 1 move KOd them and the match is over.

Also, stu, thanks for the recommendation of Kentucky Fried Rasslin’. Definitely my kind of podcast. I was really good friends with Scott and helped him with the podcast. We’d spend most Fridays on the phone talking wrestling since we were the same age, grew up with Memphis wrestling, etc. I still get bummed out about him passing and definitely miss our conversations He always said he needed to pick up the game as he played that old superstar pro wrestling game as a teen. He also said by getting in the game, he wanted to work with the game and maybe have a three pack of him, Brian Christopher (Memphis version) and The Yellowjacket (Kevin Lawler) in exchange for free plugs on his show. Looking back, I’m bummed I didn’t push it harder.
