Not at all a basketball fan, or team sports fan in general, these days. I'll give this a listen anyway. When I was a kid I played a ton of Double Dribble on Nintendo, and then later NBA Jam was great. Otherwise, not a lot of basketball game playing or general knowledge outside of the fact that the Jordan led Bulls teams were the greatest of all time. 👍

For me, for as long as I can remember, basketball season starts when the Red Sox season ends; and baseball season starts when the Celtics season ends. I am a huge NBA fan. My first memory is of celebrating the Celtics ‘86 title win and DJ running the floor with his high gait, and McHale throwing his arms up awkwardly.
Regarding video basketball games- I am going to cite two NBA Showdown by EA sports on SNES and NBA Live ‘95 on the SNES. Showdown was the first sim basketball game that allowed you to trade players and NBA Live ‘95 was the first sim game that allowed you to create players. There also were preloaded players in the create a player of past greats.
Tabletop games - I am a huge fan of anything made by Days of Wonder. My favorites are Small World. I also love BattleLore, and my wife and I have really gotten into T.I.M.E. Stories. Lastly old standbys like Ticket to Ride and Pandemic never seem to get old.

Another Great Episode Gentlemen.
Huge Pop for the opening Song!
I've never tried APBA or Stratus pro before, my boss just gave me his old Stratus Pro Football with the 1983 season. If that goes well maybe I'll try the Basketball.
Love Strat-O-Matic Basketball, just haven't had the chance to break it out in a long time.

I'm no enemy of Big Blue KB...can't really remember, but I'm banking I truly rooted for them against Duke in the famous (infamous??) Christian Laetner game! Thanks for chiming in as always sir, and great call on Axis and Allies. I didn't do a ton of war gaming, but I do remember that title! Stu, I believe you meant to say Buffalo, NY native Christian Laettner... Well, technically born in Angola, but he went to high school in Buffalo.

Interesting when other sports are brought into the podcast, and even though basketball isn't necessarily my thing, it reminded me to go back and listen to Tim's and Stu's predictions for MLB back in March and it's so fun to listen to that again after the season is now in the playoffs. It might make a great segment if you guys snipped out a few lines from past predictions and see how you feel about them after the World Series as I bet there's some good jokes in there on your forecasts.

Another great episode from the crew! I remember trying all of those Card-Dice basketball games back in the late 70s and early 80s. The one thing I remember out of all of them, was it did take longer to play a game rolling dice, tracking the stats, the clock, etc. than a regular 2 hour game would take to watch on TV. Made it hard to do replays and leagues, though I would try to do replays with the Sonics when I could and at least play 20 games or so. .......and yeah APBA was really hard and I gave up on that one also. The baseball bat Chad received sounded pretty cool, would love to see a photo of it!

To add to my comment. You know when you have those memories of something as a kid. In 1979 I was 10 years old and I remember having one of those dice rolling basketball games and I had a few college teams. I remember vividly having the 1979 Notre Dame team that had Bill Laimbeer, Orlando Wooldridge, and Kelly Tripuka all at the same time and using that team a lot. I guess back then Notre Dame Basketball was on the TV as much as Notre Dame Football is on now. Just one of those weird memories, Can't remember any other players or teams (Except I think I had the Pac-10 conference of teams).

Woolridge broke all of the Virginia Cavaliers' fans hearts when he hit a last minute jumper to end their shot at going undefeated.

Good idea...my Nats prediction definitely flamed out! Can't remember who I had in the WS though...
