Stu being an ACC fan, I'm sure his snub for KENTUCKY was intentional. 😉 Big Blue will win their 9th national title this year, no matter what Stu says. Avalon Hill... so many fun hours of game play. My go to AH game, still own and play, is AXIS and ALLIES. No matter the subject you guys always make it fun. I forgot that Axis & Allies was made by Avalon Hill. I loved that game! I have a copy that I inherited from my neighbor. Need to teach my kids to play.

Back in the early 90's basketball was my favorite sport. I was a big New Jersey Nets fan despite living on Long Island. I hated the Knicks and that cheap shot artist John Starks, and seeing them go down in Game 7 in 1994 was a awesome (and won me a bet with my prom date the night before the senior prom). Lots of NBA Jam and the EA Sports NBA game were played those days as well.
But since the turn of the century I have really stopped following the sport, outside of keeping track of scores in the playoffs and filling out an NCAA bracket where I have no clue what I'm doing. However, being a big Bill Simmons fan I have read his Book of Basketball, which is a fantastic read on the history of the game and the key players. Big recommendation for that.

I grew up in the '80s as a huge basketball fan (the initial spark was lit by Magic Johnson and the Lakers), so I really enjoyed this episode. Statis-Pro was my game back then, and I still have my well-worn copy. But over the past 10-15 years, I feel that three games have surpassed it: Inside the Paint from Inside Sports Games (heavily inspired by Statis-Pro), Hoops and CB2K from ASG Games (influenced by Mickey's Fast Break), and Replay (an original design, as far as I can tell). I rank all of them one or tiers above Strat-O-Matic when it comes to games still being produced. I was also happy to hear Tim's mention of Regular Season Basketball. That's a genius design for a semi-quick play game.

Interesting when other sports are brought into the podcast, and even though basketball isn't necessarily my thing, it reminded me to go back and listen to Tim's and Stu's predictions for MLB back in March and it's so fun to listen to that again after the season is now in the playoffs. It might make a great segment if you guys snipped out a few lines from past predictions and see how you feel about them after the World Series as I bet there's some good jokes in there on your forecasts. Good idea...my Nats prediction definitely flamed out! Can't remember who I had in the WS though... That's what I'm saying, absolutely don't listen to your predictions and, not to put more work on someone else, cough Cory cough, but they clip out a few of the predictions and play them back to you and Tim and you 'defend/walk back' your predictions. Could be a real potential for some some good humor.

Hopefully the hockey episode is coming up soon! Matt, I live in the "State of Hockey" and while I have been to two Minnesota Wild games, I have never gotten into hockey as much as I would like. The biggest factor is that it occurs during my wrestling coaching season. The Wild's arena (the Xcel Center in downtown St. Paul, formerly the site of AWA arena, the St. Paul Civic Center) is a nice facility. I have sat in two different spots at Wild games and both times, I had a great view. The Xcel looks better at the end of February/beginning of March when the ice is removed and wrestling mats are put down for the state high school wrestling tournament. I got to coach on that floor in 2018 and it was a really neat feeling stepping out there.

A) I would LOVE a hockey episode. Only sport I really follow besides association football and baseball. Speaking of, where's the Premier League episode? Haha. B) I've not paid much attention to basketball since I was in high school, really. I loved playing it, but never got into watching it like a lot of other folks I know. And having spent time in North Carolina growing up and going to college in Indiana, it was next to impossible to not be exposed to it, but I never bought in. That said, I really enjoyed listening to you guys, as usual, and loved hearing stu and TDalton thoughts on the current state of the game. And Stu, I love hearing about the history - it's easily one of my favorite things about baseball and as I've read more I've started to devour tales of football in the UK as well. Really cool hearing some of those facts - "cagers"! Looking forward to your year mark. Thanks for the great work, fellas.

Going to throw out a suggestion for SSG Basketball by Sideline Strategy Games. Really fun tabletop bball sim and the creator of the game is a great guy as well. Great episode 👍 I've played this and it's definitely a very good play-by-play game. Only drawback is that earlier seasons aren't available because NBA didn't start tracking steals and blocks until around 1973. Would be great to have some of those old dominant Wilt Chamberlain, Bill Russell or Oscar Robertson seasons.

Sam Fain I'd like to talk hockey too at some point. I don't know the sport as well, didn't grow up with it, but have become more interested as the Washington Caps have evolved. It's the best sport live, hands down...just all out!

For me, for as long as I can remember, basketball season starts when the Red Sox season ends; and baseball season starts when the Celtics season ends. What ... no Patriots? 😮🏈
