Just for the record (and maybe for an Addendum to Volume II): there are still official rules for an Arsenal Match, Aethran No Surrender Match (which is basically I Quit), and Castilex Slave Match out there. The next sound you will hear is me dropping an anvil on my own head... I partially blame myself. I kept my personal Companion document updated but the one I sent to Todd & Rob a few years ago was...well, of its time. I should have just sent the latest update off unsolicited as soon as I knew it was still being used as a reference.

RC volume 1 is worth the money and is packed full of information. Everyone involved did a great job. The lack of a table of contents was infuriating. How can I find the matches easily without a table of contents? I created an insert that lists all the matches with their page numbers, so that the lack of a table of contents does not annoy me every time I use the RC. One of my favorite features is the spiral binding and that the charts are on one page and not split between pages. Volume 2 is greatly anticipated and hopefully will contain a Double team chart, all the official matches (not in volume 1), any other gems, and a table of contents. The hard work put into this RC is appreciated.

Yes it’ll be interesting to see what will be in volume 2. I seem to remember a really cool ‘coming out of retirement’ chart in one of the previous companions. That would be great to have in the second volume along with Splatter lottery and Wolf Wildman chart. Did Vyper have one too at some point?

Yes, the Championship Crisis and other 2125 matches were part of an unofficial early draft of the Ringside Companion that Rob put out and sent to some people. They were never officially released until now. The story there is that Tom had me working on a new RC back then (2008-2009) for an official release. I forget why it never got released - I think it was just one of those things he just never got around to editing and diving into. Anyways, I ended up sharing it w fans, getting us by until now. And like Pete, it is an honor and a privilege to have matches that I wrote make its way into official FG canon. The handbook is outstanding. Thank you to everybody involved.

I was led to believe there weren't any new matches, but I should have confirmed myself. I thought I did go through the newer books, but obviously I failed.

Definitely didn’t fail and if anything went way above and beyond what was expected. The No Surrender Match and Castilex Slave Match were nothing special. Like Pete said, the NS was an I-Quit match basically drawn up to help get that first Probation card over. The Castilex Slave Match basically just says you roll twice for PIN. You could run both just having knowledge of the very basic rules. Please don’t think twice about not including them. I certainly was not expecting them to be in it.

Totally not your fault, Pete . I take the blame. I was led to believe there weren't any new matches, but I should have confirmed myself. I thought I did go through the newer books, but obviously I failed. It's all good, Chad. There were a lot of people with their eyes on this project and it was missed. No reason to assign "blame." It was just a thing, and things happen (especially on projects like this). Don't sweat it; I'm sure everyone can understand.

Chad Olson - those are minor matches, in my opinion, and like Swarm said, basic rules that folks with common knowledge of the game can use. Further, those matches are in the handbooks, so, no biggie there. Those that would want them, one would assume, have the handbooks to refer to. Unrelated, the book is fantastic. While bummed there is no strap match, I there is not a whole lot more that anyone could even look for. I love the hometown advantage chart as well! Just a fantastic job by all involved!

The two ringside companions I have left are not in great shape. The original one I have is barely hanging on so hoping mine comes soon. Kind of want to do some special matches Thursday!
