Hey Guys,
I hope all of you are enjoying the holiday season and getting pumped for the new releases! On that note, I wanted to get my 12 year old son into COTG and am just looking for advice. Due to the demands of adult life, I barely have time to play, and can really only do so during the winter.
I was introduced to COTG when I was 13 so I thought it would be a good time to get my son into it (like I mentioned, he’s 12). I figured it would be something we can do together. We watch all the Star Wars stuff (Mandalorian, etc.) together. We also watch Stranger Things, so he’s got an interest in sci-fi stuff, as do I. He’s also super into all the Marvel movies, but I’ve only seen a few.
However, my job pulls me away from my family on the weekends (I work in the wedding industry), so other than those shows, we don’t have anything we can really do together.
So, to all of you dads with sons out there, I ask, how did you get your sons into the game? Or, maybe you tried but your son just wasn’t digging it? With all of the video games and online stuff now, I feel like this will be an uphill battle, but one I’m willing to try and win. Any advice?
Also, I originally wondered what year/era/brand to introduce to my son. I don’t think he could get into black and white, so I’ve chosen FTR. I just bought the whole FTR bundle because I feel like we could both learn about the story/characters together, as I’m very unfamiliar with it myself. I figured it could be “our fed”, and just play a card out every week, and maybe let him dictate the matches, feuds, etc.
Again, any thoughts/advice/stories/insults are welcome! Roll On!
