GNW's trip to Helena did not disappoint! Here are the results from this BIG SKY COUNTRY, SOLD OUT SHOW!!!

Gentleman Chris Adams used an offensive explosion to quell the challenge of Al Perez tonight in front of the SOLD-OUT crowd in Helena! After a bit of a feeling out back and forth struggle, Adams turns up the offense just enough to put Perez away! He does so after a Superplex off the top turnbuckle!
Time: (4:26).

Hercules Ayala got a dq win in his ledger, over Bad, Bad Leroy Brown ! In a bit of an ugly, but brutal meeting, Herc gets the DISQUALIFICATION win after Brown piledrives him on the floor during the last of many out of the ring melees between these two men.
Time: (6:50).

In a more scientific match-up Jay Youngblood defeated Bobby Shane in a very competitive and entertaining match! The crowd was into this one right from the opening bell, when Shane bum-rushed Jay, until the exciting conclusion, when Jay ducked a Shane clothesline, and applied a sleeper-hold for the win! Time: (6:34).

Our tag-team offering, was a real barn-burner, as HARLEM HEAT defeated Wilbur Snyder and Spike Huber! This one was too close to call, right up until the end! The crowd spurred Snyder/Huber from one comeback, directly into another! The two fan favorites fought as hard as they could....BUT Sister Sherri was the difference in this one! She hopped up on the apron just long enough to distract Huber, allowing BOOKER T the chance to recover and use his HARLEM HANGOVER for the 1,2,3!
Time: (24:24). (4.5 stars).

**********INTERMISSION***********

The roller-coaster ride of exciting action, continued after the break as Curt Hennig clashed with HACKSAW JIM DUGGAN! Plenty of fireworks in this one, as these two put on a show of power (Duggan) and finesse (Hennig). Alas Curt couldn't get the job done legally, so here came the shortcuts! Finally incensed, Duggan lost his cool, and the match! He tosses Hennig out of the ring then is quickly DISQUALIFIED when he suplexed Curt through a table! Time: (9:03).

One half of the GNW Tag-Team Champions THE HEART-STOPPERS, Stan Stasiak WASN'T "The Man" this evening as he fell tonight in singles action to High Chief Peter Maivia! Maivia was totally on his game tonight, and his focused attack on Stasiak's lower back was effective and intense! After having it slammed into the apron early on (during an outside altercation), Stasiak was not able to recover. Stan made a brief comeback, but tonight belonged to Maivia! With crowd fully behind him he pins Stan after a well-timed SPINNING BACKBREAKER! Time: (8:06).

****CHAIN MATCH MAIN EVENT****
The whole evening was a steady crescendo leading to tonight's MAIN EVENT, where Mark Henry and Bruiser Brody nearly tore the house down! It was a bloody, violent and beautiful symphony of destruction! By the end of this "tsunami of pain", not one inch of chain was untouched by either man's blood. They bashed, and brawled as the sold-out crowd screamed one moment, then gasped the next. Henry pushed Brody to his limits, physically and mentally, with his persistent forward attack! But Brody, was in his element and he used the chain like a surgeon uses his scalpel! He began to dissect The World's Strongest Man, starting at the knees, and ending at the head! Brody finally weakens Henry enough to use his JUMPING KNEE DROP. ...to get the 3-count!
Time: (14:56).

Ilio DiPaolo battled his way past Brutus Beefcake tonight in Fargo. DiPaolo wins by pinfall after using his signature AIRPLANE SPIN. Time: (10:06).

"Playboy" Buddy Rose is victorious in his match against rugged veteran Billy Red Cloud.
Rose dominated the match, using his INSIDE BACKBREAKER for the 1,2,3. Time: (4:19).

**GNW FRONTIER CHAMPIONSHIP**
GNW Frontier Champion Bugsy McGraw successfully defended the title (his 1st defense) beating the young and popular Jim Powers! Bugsy used his Curly Shuffle and big punch to take Powers to the mat, then followed that up with his JUMPING SPLASH finisher.
Time: (5:48).

One-half of The GNW Tag-Team Champions Ox Baker was in action tonight against Eddie Guerrero. Guerrero's woes here in GNW continue, as he loses the match to the Ox. Baker kept Eddie from any aerial maneuvers, and used his power to control the match. He drops Guerrero with his trusty HEART PUNCH for the 3-count.

**2/3 FALLS NO DISQUALIFICATION**
A BLOODY RODDY PIPER defied the odds tonight defeating BIG VAN VADER tonight in Fargo in 2 CONSECUTIVE FALLS! Piper grabbed the first fall rather quickly (4:32) after a low-blow, with his SLEEPER! The second fall wasn't so easy......VADER UNLEASHED everything in his arsenal, VADER BOMB, AVALANCHE, sit-down splash....even slamming RODDY's head into the steel steps outside the ring! BUT miraculously PIPER withstood it all! In fact he tossed VADER into the guardrail and whipped him headfirst into the ringpost! Vader roars back and has Piper in a bearhug, and it looked like this match was going even up at one fall apiece..............BUT The Rowdy One had other plans! He drove a thumb into the monster's eye gaining his freedom, the reached into his trunks for a FOREIGN OBJECT which he liberally uses on Vader. Then it was a swinging neckbreaker, and RODDY gets his second straight pinfall, as the crowd went nuts.

However what looked to be another epic confrontation, went ugly in a hurry! Valentine attacked the champ before the bell, and had him in big trouble! Snuka, however, was able to get his bearings and land enough offensive shots to square things back up! But as usual with these two, eventually the action spilled to the outside, where both men are DISQUALIFIED for disregarding the rules and the referee! DOUBLE DISQUALIFICATION (Snuka retains).

Ox Baker and Stan "The Man" Stasiak continue their death-grip on the titles, defeating DEMOLITION tonight at DOG DAYS OF SUMMER '24! In their 8th successful defense of the straps they had their hands full for sure! Ax and Smash started off hot, tossing Baker to the floor, and double-teaming Stasiak, before the opening bell even rings! But the champs, soon recover and the WAR is on! Both teams blasted one another with heavy, heavy blows, and devastating double-teams! Demolition nearly tasted victory, on more than one occasion, but Ox and Stasiak both managed to avoid the loss! During a 4-man out of the ring melee, Stasiak clipped Ax in the back of the knee from behind, effectively removing him from the equation. Then The Heart-Stoppers went to work on Smash who was now alone! After some brutal double-teaming, Baker puts down his hard fighting opponent with a HEART PUNCH! YOUR WINNERS AND STILL GNW WORLD TAG-TEAM CHAMPIONS THE HEART-STOPPERS!! Time: (11:50).

Big Van Vader's mistake, was facing Roddy Piper two days prior to DOG DAYS OF SUMMER '24. He was battered by The Rowdy One, in two
straight falls, and entered this big match with a bandaged knee, and a taped wrist, no way to face an awesome fighting WORLD CHAMPION like the reigning BOBO BRAZIL! Take nothing away from Brazil, a tough customer for any challenger even if they are at 100%! Vader made no excuses and gave it everything he had....AND THEN SOME! Despite his injuries he used every move in his repertoire, but Brazil was up to the task, and fired right back at the monster! The match went to the outside, where Vader mis-timed a charge and careened into the unforgiving ringpost, and crimson soon flowed from the face of Vader! Bobo quickly tosses Vader back into the ring, and gets the pin after a Bobo Body Slam, and 2 consecutive COCO BUTTS! YOUR WINNER AND STILL GNW WORLD CHAMPION BOBO BRAZIL!!!

GENE: WE are FRESH off our hugely successful DOG DAYS OF SUMMER PAY-PER-VIEW, fans if you missed it was historic.....let's review what went down in Minneapolis Saturday night....

Dirty Dick Raines lost to Hacksaw Jim Duggan and is banished from GNW for 1 full year.

Wilbur Snyder and Spike Huber win the 11-Team Battle Royale, and earn the Tag-Team title shot!

Nord the Barbarian won the 16-Man I.S.TITLE SHOT BATTLE ROYAL......

Jim Snuka retained his I.S. Championship visa vie DOUBLE DISQUALIFICATION in his defense against Greg Valentine....

Rowdy Roddy Piper earns a WORLD TITLE SHOT winning the 16-Man WORLD TITLE SHOT BATTLE ROYALE......

The HEART-STOPPERS, BAKER and STASIAK retain the straps defeating DEMOLITION at GNW DOG DAYS OF SUMMER.....

AND last but certainly not least, GNW WORLD CHAMPION BOBO BRAZIL took down Big Van Vader to retain the most prestigious title in all of wrestling........

With Dick Raines departure from GNW after DOG DAYS, Great North Commissioner Bill Watts announced his replacement toady at an earlier press conference. Starting Sept.1st superstar KENNY KING will join the GNW roster, welcome and good luck Mr. King......

Perhaps the biggest story coming out of DOG DAYS, was the arrival of FIGHT CLUB....(plays the FIGHT CLUB clip from DOG DAYS OF SUMMER (see my PART I post)...Fan reaction was less than favorable for these new arrivals, and I'm sure the rest of the GREAT NORTH WRESTLING roster especially the champions, will be addressing FIGHT CLUB'S remarks and demands post-haste, and I am sure Mr. Shamrock and Co. won't find it that easy.....

WEDNESDAY night Great North Wrestling was proud to help the Faribault H.S. "Future Business Leaders of America " chapter raise funds for The American Red Cross (MN). The monies raised were donated to the Red Cross for updating and purchasing equipment for it's Bloodmobile!
What a night of professional wrestling action, all for a great cause!!!!

FIGHT CLUB made its debut tonight, and Steve Blackman was the first member to wrestle, and he had his hands full with Jim Powers! In fact Powers controlled most of the action, using his power to keep Blackman on the defensive and off balance! Unfortunately for Powers it would be a DISQUALIFICATION VICTORY. After powerslamming Blackman Jim goes for the cover and the sure-fire 1,2,3...... but KEN SHAMROCK charges down the aisle and interferes! The ref calls for the bell,awarding Powers the "W". Shamrock and Blackman put a beatdown on Jim until Blackjack Mulligan and Hercules Ayala race to the ring, chasing them to the back. Time: (8:14).

The big Korean Martial Arts expert Kim Duk is very impressive in our next feature as he ran roughshod over Buddy Fuller. Fuller did very little in this match, as Duk had his number from the opening bell! After some brutal chops, and decapitating kicks, Duk finishes Buddy fairly quickly, using a TOMBSTONE PILEDRIVER to get the pinfall victory. Time: (4:43).

Our tag-team offering tonight was a good one! Mad Dog and Butcher Vachon vs the team of Mark Lewin and Hercules Ayala! It was a back and forth struggle, and the crowd was into it. After both teams had several pin attempts, The experience of the Vachons as a tag-team was the difference! They isolate Ayala and use the double-team to perfection. Mad Dog pins a weary Hercules, after a running knee lift, before Lewin can make the save! (Ayala and Butcher Vachon were bloodied after several out of the ring skirmishes) Time: (19:36) 5-stars.

********INTERMISSION********

Pedro Morales was "en fuego" tonight in Faribault as he gets past "Moondog" Lonnie Mayne in a scrapper! Morales managed to shake off the effects off an early Mayne bum-rush, and fight his way back! Using his superior scientific skills, Morales eventually makes Lonnie submit to his BOSTON CRAB finisher. Time: (8:46).

Blackjack Mulligan was in no mood to mess around, or be messed with, as he destroys the masked menace known as The Grappler! Grappler tried using his LOADED BOOT right from the get-go but Mullingan caught his leg and drops him with standing LARIAT, as the crowd cheers! Mulligan then stomps a mudhole in his opponent in short order, putting him nighty-nite with his BLACKJACK CLAW!!! Time: (4:21) SQUASH.

BATISTA started on an offensive comeback after a Maivia pin attempt, and never looked back! He pins the rugged veteran after a spear.....with a BATISTA BOMB! Time: (8:58).

KEN SHAMROCK, after making his brazen statements at GNW DOG DAYS OF SUMMER, backed up his bravado big-time tonight, at the expense of a top-contender in rugged Ronnie Garvin ! Ken made surprisingly short work of THE HANDS OF STONE, in this FINISHER MATCH MAIN EVENT! He drills a charging Garvin with a spinkick, followed by a huracanranna , then pantomimes the "throat cut" sign to the stunned crowd, and slaps on his ANKLE LOCK finisher!
Garvin as tough as he is, has no choice but to submit! Time: (2:37). SQUASH

It was a wild night inside the Tacoma-Dome Saturday! Here's how it all went down!!!

Kenny King made his debut, , and found the going a bit rough, in his first Great North appearance, falling to Al Perez! Perhaps Kenny underestimated the competition, or maybe Al was just on his A-game, we can only speculate which was the case. After a scrappy, hard-fought back and forth contest, Al forces King to submit using his SPINNING TOE HOLD finisher. Time: (10:31).

Fight Club's Don Frye tangled with "The Crippler" Ray Stevens, in a match that quickly spiraled into a train wreck! After failing to intimidate Stevens with a brutal assault, Frye found himself quickly on the outside of the ring, receiving quite a thrashing from Ray! It escalated until Fight Club members Ken Shamrock, Dan Severn and Steve Blackman all rushed out to Frye's aid. It soon left Stevens beaten and bloody, fighting for his very survival! In a surprise Billy/Bart Gunn along with Inter-State Champion Jimmy Snuka rushed out to even the odds! A confused but thankful Crippler, despite previous differences with his rescuers was appreciative for the help. WINNER BY DQ RAY STEVENS!! Time:(3:43).

Beauregarde loves the Pacific NW, even though the Pacific NW FANS don't particularly like him! Beau is however undefeated in GNW competition in this portion of the territory, and he remains so after tonight's pinfall victory over Jerry Lynn! In an exciting and fast-paced affair, Beauregarde used a bit of agility mixed with some questionable tactics to get the "W". He countered a Lynn sunset flip and gets the pin with the aid of a handful of tights (unseen by the official). Time: (6:42).

**********INTERMISSION**********
The previously mentioned GUNNslingers were victorious in our tag-team feature, defeating THE BOYS, "Golden Boy" Paul Christy and "Nature Boy" Roger Kirby. It wasn't easy for Billy and Bart, and this was an enjoyable 4-man bruhaha! Quick tags kept the Gunns fresh and they eventually wore The Boys down. After a somewhat lengthy Christy/Kirby offensive rally, Bart and Billy turned the tide of the match for good. With Bart and Kirby fighting outside the ring, the legal men Christy and Billy were inside the ring brawling. Billy pins Paul after nearly separating his head from his neck and shoulders with a flying clothesline!
Time: (10:11).

If anybody deserves a title shot, it would be The Great Malenko. He is in the top half of the GNW TOP TEN, as has been on a tear of late! His impressive streak continued tonight in Tacoma with a COUNTOUT victory over of all people, "THE WORLD'S STRONGEST MAN" MARK HENRY!!! Henry battered Malenko for a good while, but the self proclaimed "Great One" fought back with everything he had! He takes big Mark to the outside....and that as they say was that! After a devastating RUSSIAN SICKLE from Malenko, the big man hit the floor, and couldn't beat the referee's count back intothe ring! Time: (9:37).

**GNW INTER-STATE CHAMPIONSHIP**
Nord the Barbarian, fresh off the heels of his PPV TITLE SHOT BATTLE ROYALE win at DOG DAYS OF SUMMER, came into the Tacoma-Dome on a roll, and with a bang! Inter-State Champion Jimmy Snuka had one of his toughest title defenses against the big berserker! First Nord tried to outwrestle Snuka (unsuccessfully), then he tried brute strength to bully his way past The Superfly! After using his over the shoulder backbreaker to weaken Snuka, it looked grim for the Champion. BUT the high-flyer from Fiji.....energized by the crowd and the will to win, stormed his way back. AFTER several leap-frogs and chops, and yes a few eye gouges (no DQ) he planted the Barbarian in the center of the squared circle with a spinning powerslam! The Superfly ascended to the top turnbuckle as the crowd went nuclear! SNUKA delivers a textbook SUPERFLY LEAP for the 1,2,3! THE WINNER AND STILL GNW INTER-STATE CHAMPION JIMMY SUPERFLY SNUKA!!! Time: (11:57).
